In February 2005, Jim Lonon turned a vision into reality with the opening of Home Instead Senior Care of Union, Anson Stanly & Lancaster Counties. A U.S. Army veteran who served in medical service during the Vietnam War, Jim later built a successful career at Eastman Kodak before dedicating himself to improving senior care in the community. Under his leadership, Home Instead has served approximately 2,000 clients and provided meaningful employment to over 2,500 caregivers and office staff. Jim is an active member of Weddington Methodist Church and enjoys spending quality time with his family, especially his three beloved granddaughters.

Trenna Lonon graduated from East Tennessee State University with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 1985. She dedicated 20 years to geriatric nursing, working as an RN in various long-term care facilities. In 2005, recognizing the need for seniors to have options so they may age at home, Trenna and her husband Jim, co-founded Home Instead of Union, Stanly, & Anson Counties. For nearly two decades, they have been committed to providing personalized care solutions that enable seniors to age in place with dignity and independence.

Chris Lonon has been at Home Instead since 2005 and became a co-owner in 2018. Based in Charlotte with his wife, Megan, Chris holds a law degree from NCCU and brings over 10 years of experience managing business offices for medical practices prior to joining Home Instead. His blend of legal expertise and business management allows him to lead with both compassion and efficiency, ensuring that seniors and their families receive the highest level of care and support.

Director of Operations

Kesha Hickson began her journey with Home Instead as a Staffing Coordinator and now proudly serves as the Director of Operations. Passionate about helping individuals remain in their homes, she finds fulfillment in personalizing care. Inspired by her diverse and dedicated team, Kesha values collaboration and support in overcoming daily challenges. Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her husband, Clint, and their three children, along with their pets. Her personal motto: "When you reach the end of your rope, tie a knot and hang on." .

Shana Smith

RN Director of Nursing

Shana is our Director of Client Services, overseeing Quality Assurance visits for our Medicaid, CAP, Long-Term Care, and Private Pay clients. A dedicated RN she has been serving Monroe's geriatric community for over 15 years. A lifelong Monroe resident, Shana shares her home with her husband, two children, and a lively assortment of pets, including two dogs, three cats, two chinchillas, a hamster, and seven chickens!

Administrative Director

Sherry expertly manages payroll, VA, Private Pay and Long-Term Care billing, and invoicing, ensuring smooth and accurate operations-she's our resident spreadsheet wizard! A Marshville native, Sherry spent 32 years in Texas before returning home in 2014 to be closer to family and the community she loves. She brought her warm heart and meticulous skills back with her and now resides in Marshville with her husband and their two cats, who keep her life full of love and energy.

Thomas Brodeur is a Client Care Coordinator at Home Instead, where he is passionate aboutadvocating for those in need and providing essential information and services to enhance their quality of life. He values the company's commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion, believing it sets Home Instead apart from other providers. With a background rooted in respect for the elderly, Thomas aims to offer compassionate care, inspired by the teachings of Jesus. In his personal life, he enjoys 80s pop, rock, and country music and dreams of traveling to Brazil for it's warm culture and social interactions. He believes in the importance of kindness and understanding and advises new team members to let their hearts guide them.

Emily Tyson

LPN, VA Client Care Coordinator

Emily Tyson has been a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) since 1999 and is currently pursuing further education to become a Registered Nurse (RN)! She has been with Home Instead since November 2019 and serves as both a Client Care Coordinator and the key role of VA Coordinator. Emily has a deep dedication to veterans and takes great pride in supporting them. She values the strong sense of teamwork at Home Instead, where colleagues and owners collaborate closely, creating a family-like environment. Outside of work, Emily enjoys spending time with family, friends, and her beloved dogs. If she could have a superpower, she would choose the ability to teleport, allowing her to be in many places at once.
