Home Instead is personal for me for many reasons. The first and most important reason is connected to my faith. James 1:27 reminds me, "Pure and genuine religion in the sight of God means caring for orphans and widows in their distress." The other, more personal reason involves my role in caring for my mother, a widow diagnosed with early onset dementia at the age of 58, in 2013. Because of her illness, I've personally lived the experience of helping to provide care for someone in need. I've seen the impact that meeting her needs has had on her quality of life for three years. I've also seen the way it has impacted my family, my friends, and my own heart. From the time I sit down at my desk every morning, I am driven to help, even in the smallest measures-a phone call, a reassuring laugh, or empowering our caregivers to do their job effectively-to meet needs for those who are struggling. I'm thankful to play a small part in that process at Home Instead. When not working, my home life with my husband and three children keeps me more than busy.
