  3. A Message From Lisa and Frank

For those of you that pay attention to marketing and slogans, you are likely familiar with the phrase "To Us It's Personal".  You see it on almost all of our brochures, client journals –
anything that has our Home Instead Senior Care logo.

However, to us, it really is much more than an advertising tag line – it sums up why we do what we do.  If you ask any employee that works here – CAREGivers and administrative staff alike – you'll find that, for most of us, working here IS personal.  We are drawn to serving seniors.  Many of us typically find fulfillment in helping people in general (our pets will argue animals too) but we have a particular affinity for the elderly – often because of our own personal experiences when growing up.  Consequently, no matter how challenging the work can be – there really isn't anything we'd rather be doing.  Nothing gives us greater pleasure than to help each of you.

At this time of year, we always reflect on our accomplishments over the last 12 months.  We detail this in the "highlights" section of this newsletter.  It's not surprising, given our collective desire to help others, that many of our highlights focus on giving – the Walk to End Alzheimer's, the community education, our Pay It Forward program and "Salute to Senior Service." However, our very favorite, the Be a Santa to A Senior Program, is "wrapping up" as we write this letter (pun intended).  This is our favorite because the program allows us to bring out the best in the community at large and embodies the expression, "it is better to give than receive."  The generosity shown by all who participated in this holiday gift drive is like nothing we have seen in our 9 years of doing this program. The gifts were all so thoughtful and festive. They were given in the spirit of love and compassion – and this really does come through when handling the gifts. We were delighted to once again donate these presents to various Meals on Wheels programs for dissemination to seniors in need throughout Hillsborough, Merrimack and Belknap counties. To many, the gift from our Be A Santa To A Senior program will be the only holiday cheer they
receive. We now can't imagine the Christmas season without this program and we are already thinking to next year.

Counting our blessings is a nice way to inventory the past year and plan for the year ahead. Lisa and I are grateful for so many things. Your trust in our care is perhaps the most humbling.  For everyone here, we wish you the happiest of holiday seasons and a wonderful New Year!

Best,
Lisa and Frank Byrne
