Lakelyn Hogan, Home Instead gerontologist and caregiver advocate, recently appeared on Dr. Phil. During the show, Dr. Phil interviewed Lakelyn, along with Tracy, a family caregiver who cares for her 87-year-old mother who has Alzheimer’s disease and lives in Tracy’s home. Tracy’s mother moved in with Tracy’s family 10 years ago when she showed early signs of dementia. Tracy’s mom previously cared for Tracy’s grandmother, who also had Alzheimer’s disease. Before becoming a caregiver, Tracy owned four consignment stores, an online store, and had additional business interests, but consolidated everything to one store after her mom moved in.Between running her business, being PTA president, maintaining a household and caring for her mother, as you can imagine, Tracy’s life is stressful.
