More than 650,000 calls are made every day to 911 dispatch centers across the United States. Chances are that you or a loved one will be in need of emergency services in your lifetime – but what should you do in those critical minutes while waiting for First Responders? Join us to learn the top tips to handle an emergency situation, and ways to keep yourself or others safe. 

SPEAKER: Marlon Pendergraft, Newport News Fire Department

Marlon Pendergraft started his career with the Newport News Fire department in 2007. Over the last 10 years he has been promoted to Senior Fire Fighter/Medic, working on both Ambulances and Fire Engines. He is certified in Advanced Cardiac Life Support, International Trauma Life Support and Pediatric Life Support. Marlon is also an EMT- Intermediate, Certified CPR Instructor, and a Certified Fire Inspector who works with the Public Education Division of the Fire Department. Marlon spends his time increasing Public Fire Safety Awareness by educating the community on proper techniques & tips when in an emergency situation.
