Every 66 seconds someone in the United States develops Alzheimer’s disease, and more than five million Americans are living with the disease today. Caring for someone with Alzheimer’s disease or dementia often requires a great deal of time and patience, and it can cause great stress to the caregiver. Understanding these conditions in your client or loved one can help you to best serve them and their changing needs. Join us to learn more about the fundamentals of Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias and learn tips to best care for those living with the conditions. ​

SPEAKER: Marjorie Hilkert, Alzheimer’s Disease & Dementia Trainer Marjorie Hilkert is a passionate advocate for people with Alzheimer’s disease and dementia and their caregivers. Inspired by her experience caring for her father who was diagnosed with the disease in 2002, Marjorie has worked tirelessly to train and educate the community in all aspects Alzheimer’s and dementia. She is a trainer with Home Instead Senior Care; speaker for the Alzheimer’s Associates’ Southeastern Virginia Chapter; past Chairman of the Williamsburg Walk to End Alzheimer’s disease; member of the Peninsula Alzheimer’s Leadership Council; and certified art facilitator and trainer for the Memories in the Making Creative Art Program.
