Families want their aging loved ones to be comfortable, happy, and to have the desires of their hearts. Loving family members often promise to keep their parents and grandparents in the comfort of home for as long as possible - maybe even until the end of life. Our goal at Home Instead Senior Care is help families keep that "promise of home." Our greatest reward comes from providing families with reliable, trained, and compassionate CAREGivers they can trust. As the franchise owner, I am personally invested in making sure every contact with Home Instead is a positive one. To us, it's personal. I set the tone for all my employees to follow with my enduring commitment to quality, respect, and client satisfaction.

I truly believe that at Home Instead, we are changing the face of aging. We are showing our community that fear and isolation don't have to be the norm for our honored seniors. I see the differences that our CAREGivers make with the clients we serve. We are providing joy and laughter. We're helping to revitalize our clients' self-esteem, and we are supporting their independence. I am so grateful to be a part of this.

During my undergraduate degree, I was focused on working with children; but I suppose life had a different purpose for me! Opportunities to help seniors kept appearing, and I found myself developing a strong passion for working with the aging population. So, when I went to pursue my Master’s in Social Work degree, I decided to focus in gerontology. Through my MSW program, I gained more experience working with seniors and their families, which only solidified my career aspirations. The Client Care Coordinator role at Home Instead is my dream job, where I can fulfill my calling to help seniors on a daily basis. The values and mission of Home Instead align perfectly with my own. I feel honored to be trusted with the responsibility to ensure quality care and service for our clients and their families.​

​After a career in manufacturing, I decided to continue with my pursuit of helping people by becoming a licensed practical nurse.  With many hours of classroom, lab, and clinical training in numerous acute rehabilitation facilities; I recognized my genuine interest in seniors and those needing assistance.  My desire to contribute to the quality of life for our seniors is what led me to my role as the medication client coordinator at Home Instead Senior Care.  In this position, I work with our clients, their families, their doctors, and our CAREGivers to provide safe and accurate medication administration services.  With Home Instead, I am blessed to have a team that shares my values of compassion, courage, and responsibility.  I look forward to serving you!

Since I was a young child, I knew that I wanted to be a health care provider. As a five-year-old, my idea was that I would be a doctor in space! When I got to college, I studied Zoology. After raising three children, I eventually pursued my passion for helping people by becoming a registered nurse. Working with seniors at Home Instead is really a natural fit for me. I can relate with the families we serve, because I have planned and coordinated care for my own mother. As an international medical team volunteer I have worked to provide care to vulnerable populations abroad. But, I've also worked very locally in a clinic for low income individuals. My heart's desire is to serve others and to relieve suffering wherever I can. At Home Instead, I help "keep the promise of home" for our senior clients by supervising our CAREGivers who administer client medications. It's interesting and rewarding work; and I am very proud to say I work for Home Instead Senior Care!​

Before I joined Home Instead, I had a management role at a different in-home care agency in the area. After a few years there, I felt limited from making the true difference for people that my heart desired. A co-worker had applied at Home Instead and told me how different it was there. My "aha moment" was finding Home Instead's core values listed on a job posting: To honor God in all we do; To treat each other with dignity and respect; To encourage growth in ourselves and others; and To build value in our service to others. I was so encouraged to find an agency whose values matched my own! Now, as a leader of the Home Instead team in Beaverton, I work closely with Mike to ensure that everything we do makes a difference in the lives of our clients and CAREGivers.​

Growing up I spent a lot of time with my grandmother. She took me everywhere she went. Senior exercise classes and events were a large part of Grammy’s life, so from a very young age, I was surrounded with the most experienced population of people. I always loved their stories about how things were for them as younger people and the journeys they had taken. I have always been pulled to health care in some capacity, and I’ve worked with insurance companies, health care agencies, and hospitals. When I was in college, I felt the pull to help with the generation I was so comfortable and familiar with. So, I worked with a home care agency in California as a caregiver, scheduler, and human resource assistant. When the opportunity presented itself to get back into the field with Home Instead Senior Care, I could not resist. I have truly enjoyed my time with our fantastic staff and clients. I feel I have found my home.

Home Instead's mission statement, to enhance the lives of aging adults and their loved ones, is a statement that I stand by and believe in. I lived first hand with four different family members what it means to see the effects of illness and aging and what my role was in their lives. I came to Home Instead after feeling a pull that I was supposed to work with seniors. It's amazing to see firsthand how our CAREGivers are making a difference every day, giving our clients and their families hope, support, and genuine care.

I worked as a CAREGiver for Home Instead for almost two years before joining the office team. In that time, I was privileged to care for dozens of clients in all circumstances and stages of need. I've known I wanted to help others since working as a certified nursing assistant in the past and finding this chance to specifically help with seniors!  I was very honored to be named the Beaverton Home Instead's 2015 CAREGiver of the Year. I have always been a very empathetic person, and I enjoy learning from other people. I have a special affinity for seniors as they have so much to wisdom to share from their lifetimes of experience. As a CAREGiver trainer in the office, I have the opportunity to help establish and hone those direct-care skills that are so important to our quality care. I can speak a little French and enjoy learning about France. I also love reading a good book, watching a good movie, or seeing musical theater on stage! I keep busy outside of work with my husband and 5 kids! (4 boys and 1 girl). I am also involved in my church and enjoy volunteering with babies and high schoolers. I am honored to be a helper to God's children at both ends of the age spectrum! ​

After becoming a part of Home Instead, it was so easy to embrace the mission of helping seniors stay at home. The stories, the memories, everything that seniors had worked for was tied up in the home they wanted to stay in. Working here has changed my life. I have gained a new perspective on what is truly important as we care for the elderly and as we age ourselves. I am truly blessed to work with people who share those values. ​

I aspire to live in a world where everyone follows the golden rule, books come bundled with extra dark chocolate, and all baked good are calorie free. As a cardiac tech with more than 20 years of experience, I have worked for Tuality Hospital, private cardiologists, and currently, the Portland Veteran’s Hospital where I work specifically with patients who have cardiac care needs. I am an advocate for senior in-home care and increasing the quality of life for our beloved seniors; so being a service coordinator at Home Instead is a natural fit for me. I love being part of a team where courage, responsibility, and love are woven into our everyday actions. When I am not working at the hospital or on the phones at Home Instead, I enjoy cooking, baking, and of course eating! ​

I have always been passionate about caring for and helping others. In my youth, I found fulfillment and growth in assisting the elders of my family with their struggles. This passion continued into adulthood, as I took a position in a nursing facility, where I would eventually meet my husband. As we raised our two boys, my journey would eventually take me to a group home for medically fragile adults. Later in life, I would face the challenge and privilege of providing medical care directly to my husband, as he neared the end of his life. The boys and I could give him what he wanted most, to be able to pass away at home with his family and dogs near him. The values of Home Instead directly mirror my own. It's a tremendous blessing to be a part of a team so dedicated to honoring the spiritual and medical beliefs of those we assist.  To provide exceptional care to them and their families, and support their own personal journey at home.

Like many others, I have had loved ones age and lose the ability to care for themselves. In witnessing that struggle, I always hoped for loving solution that could help meet their needs. As a CAREGiver and on-call supervisor for Home Instead Senior Care, I've found exactly that. I'm so proud to work alongside other people at Home Instead who believe, as I do, that everyone should be treated with respect, no matter what their needs may be.

After years of being home with my wonderful kids, I felt inspired to start working part-time outside the home. My search led me to Home Instead where I was hired by Mike and team as both a CAREGiver and an On-Call Supervisor. I teach my children to spread as much kindness as they can every day; and my work at Home Instead gives me so many opportunities to do just that. I cherish the relationships I get to form with clients and their families as well as the CAREGivers and office team. I could not ask for a better group of people to work with. Our vision to bless lives through courage, responsibility, and love shows in everything we do at Home Instead. After a career path in the disciplines of science, information technology, and business accounting, I am thrilled to be with Home Instead Senior Care. I have a genuine compassion for people and love engaging in work that improves the quality of life for aging adults. Though much of my work as the bookkeeper is done behind the scenes, I enjoy opportunities to work directly with our clients and CAREGivers on questions related to billing, payroll, and benefits. Mike and team have created a very unique and special office environment where respect, accountability, and teamwork are values that are not only prized, but also practiced. I find great satisfaction in my work at Home Instead and look forward to serving you. ​

​Prior to coming to Home Instead Senior Care, I spent nearly three years in the home health space as a medical transitional care team administrator. That experience showed me that seniors who are discharged from the hospital without sufficient support at home end up right back in the hospital within thirty days. Having recently experienced the benefits of in-home caregivers for my 92-year-old mother-in-law, I am a passionate home care advocate. I love my job, as the Home Care Consultant, to spread the word about our amazing service for families. Our Home Instead Beaverton team is awesome, and our CAREGivers are truly amazing. I am honored to be a member of this organization, and I strive to live and exemplify its core values and mission.
