Debbie Franchuk, RN, Co-Owner, Director of Care

Caring for people has always been a part of Debbie’s life. This interest began at an early age when her sister was critically injured. This opened Debbie’s eyes to caring for others and ultimately led her to pursue a career in Nursing. Debbie has a distinguished career at Alberta Health Services, there she built a reputation based upon nursing excellence. Debbie has had extensive experience with Home Care and Transition services. In these roles, Debbie saw firsthand the need for in-home care which the public system was not meeting. This inspired Debbie to open a Home Instead office to meet that need and provide a solution. As Director of Care, Debbie is able to use her nursing skills and professional experiences to help families navigate the system and customize unique care plans for each client. Debbie’s credibility is one of the reasons that Home Instead is the right choice for families who are seeking support for their elderly loved ones. 


Fred Franchuk, Co-Owner, Managing Partner

Fred Franchuk, Co-Owner, Managing Partner

Fred cares deeply about relationships, he has an old fashioned sense of customer service. He has built a career based upon anticipating and exceeding customer expectations. This high calibre of customer service is constantly being taught to our entire staff and he ensures that our clients and their family's needs are met and exceeded. Fred has worked with teams and organizations where he has built a reputation by raising standards for customer service and satisfaction. Aside from working behind the scenes to manage operations, Fred is continually providing direction and painting the picture of our future as a company. His leadership is one of the key elements that makes our team successful. He also spends a significant amount of time out in our community sharing information about Home Instead with Seniors Residences and Hospitals while continuing to meet with clients and families. 


Stephen Franchuk, B MGT, General Manager

Stephen Franchuk, B MGT, General Manager

After providing support to various departments within the organization, it was a natural decision for Stephen to be promoted to the General Manager. His ability to listen and understand helps to solve little problems before they grow, while simultaneously coaching and guiding the support team to meet the demanding and complex needs of our clients and their families. Along with the management of the scheduling department, Stephen also manages our web marketing, social media and will often be seen in the community at various events. Always here to help, Stephen is not afraid to do whatever it takes to keep a client or employee happy.​


Susan Szabo, Nurse, Client Care Coordinator

Susan Szabo, Nurse, Client Care Coordinator

Susan has an extensive and diverse background in senior care, nursing, administration and safety. A registered nurse for over twenty years, she has worked in long term care, orthopedic surgery, general surgery, obstetrics, emergency and senior management positions both in rural and urban settings. Care of the growing aging population has been a focus throughout her nursing career. Her passion for healthcare, and her desire to support seniors combined with her experience provides her with all the tools required when designing a care plan for our clients.


Grace Saunders, PSW, Client Care Coordinator

Grace Saunders, PSW, Client Care Coordinator

​Grace is a Personal Support Worker and also has a Social Work Diploma. These certifications help Grace ensure our clients are receiving the highest quality care. Grace works in a hands on capacity with our clients ensuring that their ever-changing needs are being met as they age. By staying ahead of the immediate needs that come with ageing, Grace is able to prevent hospital visits while keeping our clients as safe and independent as possible. If a client's wishes are to age where they currently call home, Grace is committed to finding solutions that will help meet this goal. 


Terry Boyle, Communication Specialist

Terry Boyle, Communication Specialist

As our Communication Specialist, Terry works with new clients and their families every day. Terry loves seniors and believes strongly in helping them stay in their home for as long as possible! As a nurse for over 14 years, Terry has gained extensive knowledge and experience that helps guide families through the maze of senior care options. She works on a daily basis with our Care team and Scheduling team to ensure our senior clients are having their needs met. Terry loves to help seniors and their families during this often very stressful time by spending as much time as needed for the family to feel comfortable. She also works with new CAREGivers who are joining Home Instead in our mission of serving Calgary’s seniors. Terry’s nursing experience, home care experience and caring nature makes her the perfect person to help you with your senior loved one’s needs.


Lindsey Little, LPN, Lead Client Care Coordinator

Lindsey Little, LPN, Lead Client Care Coordinator Lindsey is an extremely valuable part of our Care Team here at Home Instead Senior Care. Lindsey has been in nursing since 2009. As a Licensed Practical Nurse, Lindsey has spent significant time working with seniors while working in Long Term Care and also in AHS Home Care. Lindsey’s Passion for providing the highest quality care to seniors is what drew her to Home Instead Senior Care. At Home Instead, Lindsey is able to provide seniors with the full spectrum care that they deserve. As a LPN, Lindsey’s medical expertise allows her to see the full picture and provide the needed recommendations to ensure each senior has the best possible outcomes.

​With varied experience working both behind the scenes and in direct contact with different age groups and their families, Stefanie's background helps her engage with each person and caller in the office. Stefanie started her career with Home Instead Senior Care working as a CAREGiver where she worked with clients of varies needs. This experience helps Stefanie support CAREGivers who are working with clients and also helps her understand the family's needs. Her passion is in people, she loves to connect and create positive interactions. On any given day you can find Stefanie managing countless projects to keep the office running smoothly and efficiently. 


Tamara Dhillion, Lead Scheduling Manager

Tamara Dhillion, Lead Scheduling Manager

​Tamara has several years of scheduling experience and is a great asset to our team. She is able to find new ways to solve the daily challenges that arise while keeping a customer focused approach. Her in-depth knowledge of our CAREGiving team allows her to match CAREGivers to even the most challenging situations. Tamara makes it a priority to make sure all of our CAREGivers are prepared to work with our clients. ​


Cassidy Kleppe, Scheduling Manager

Cassidy is one of our Scheduling Managers here at Home Instead. She works diligently to learn about our CAREGivers so that she can match them to our Clients. Just like many other members of our office team, Cassidy started her Home Instead career as a CAREGiver. She loved working with each client and being able to support them in their goal of staying in their own homes. Cassidy left Home Instead for a few years but always knew she wanted to come back! After working for different companies in the industry, Cassidy knew that Home Instead Senior Care was different. At Home Instead, the matching is so much more personal and intentional. Cassidy’s experience as a CAREGiver coupled with her experience as a Manager helps her to support our CAREGivers.


Michelle Houston, Administrative Assistant

Michelle Houston, Administrative Assistant

Michelle is likely the first person you will speak with on the phone or meet in the office. She works behind the scenes to make sure everything is running smoothly for our CAREGivers and for our Clients and their families. Her previous experience gives her the tools she needs to be able to manage multiple projects at once and her previous experience as a Personal Support Worker helps her to guide the CAREGivers when needed. Michelle’s warm and friendly approach helps to build the Family feel of Home Instead Senior Care.

Shade Hassan LPN with Advanced Foot Care Training

As Home Instead Senior Care’s Foot Care Nurse, Shade has a very important role! As an LPN with Advanced Foot Care training, Shade is specially trained to work with Senior’s feet to ensure proper foot health. Proper Foot Care affects a Senior’s overall health and wellbeing. Her advanced dementia training also helps her to care for the special needs of our clients with Memory Issues. Without proper footcare seniors can experience pain, reduced range of motion and even serious infections. Shade’s advanced training allows her to reduce the chances of infection and gives her the expertise to recognize these potential problems early so they can be treated before a concern happens.


Taylor Pinkney, Weekend Scheduling Manager

​Taylor does a great job of taking care of schedule changes and supporting the organization on weekends. Taylor continues to guide and direct our caregivers while the rest of the team takes a break. Taylor works casual and on call as a scheduling manager. ​


Amanda Larson, Client Care Coordinator LPN

Amanda Larson, Client Care Coordinator LPN

Amanda’s career with Home Instead Senior Care started many years ago when she worked as a CAREGiver. Working with the seniors and their families inspired Amanda to go back to school to pursue her education as an LPN. Since Amanda gained her LPN certification she has worked in Long Term Care buildings but has always wanted to return to Home Instead when an opportunity arose. Amanda believes in the 1 on 1 support that the Home Instead model of care provides. She finds that seniors are happier and healthier when they are in their own homes. Amanda works daily with the CAREGivers to ensure they are providing the highest quality care for our clients. She also works closely with those clients who need medical care.


Jilysa Everett,Weekend Scheduling Manager

Jilysa Everett,Weekend Scheduling Manager

​As a Weekend Scheduling Manager, Jilysa supports our CAREGivers and Clients. She ensures all clients are receiving the highest quality care and their needs are being met. Jilysa works both as a Scheduling Manager and also as a CAREGiver. This gives Jilysa the unique ability to support CAREGivers, because she does the same work on a regular basis.


Catherine Guindon, Accounting Administrative Assistant

Catherine Guindon, Accounting Administrative Assistant

Catherine works as a CAREGiver and also as the Accounting Administrative Assistant.  She is responsible for Payroll and the Invoice processing. Catherine works closely with our Accounting firm to ensure all aspects of our book keeping are in alignment with Provincial and Federal laws. Catherine is another one of those important "behind the scenes" employees that we have. She is always willing to help and ensure the clients and CAREGivers needs are being met.
