Home Support Worker

Job Details

Home Instead Senior Care is hiring caring and compassionate individuals who want to help older adults remain at home by offering individualized one-on-one support. As a Home Support Worker, you will help seniors tackle the various cognitive and physical challenges associated with aging while enabling them to maintain their independence and quality of life.

While the exact services you deliver will depend on your skills, personality, and the needs of our clients, potential duties include:

- Companionship and conversation
- Light housekeeping tasks and meal preparation
- Medication and appointment reminders
- Accompanying clients to appointments
- Contributing to a positive living environment to enhance a client’s quality of life

Although not required, you may also provide personal care, mobility assistance, and Alzheimer’s support.

Home Instead Senior Care commits to ongoing skill development by providing paid training and ongoing support. Daytime, evening, overnight and weekend hours are offered. Visits are between 3 and 12 hours in length and occur on a weekly ongoing basis. Group medical benefits with employer contributions are also available.

Candidates must be fluent in written and spoken English and, upon hire, provide a clear criminal background check and vulnerable sector check.

Staffing Advisor

Job Details

As a Staffing Advisor for Home Instead Senior Care (3337989 Nova Scotia Limited), you work to organize schedules and create great matches between our caregivers and our clients.  

About you: 

You are an excellent communicator, organized and known for your problem solving skills. 

When a crisis or hectic situation comes your way, you embrace it, think of a logical solution, collaborate with your team and jump on board with the implementation of your plan. Ambiguity doesn’t scare you and “self-motivated” is your middle name. 

You have experience working with a wide range of personalities, whether by working in a call centre or as a dispatcher, in the hospitality industry, or in an office setting. You are extremely reliable and present yourself in a professional manner every day. Whether it's on the phone or in person, helping your team or your customer makes you feel great! 

Key responsibilities: 

* Ensure outstanding customer service by scheduling and coordinating case load efficiently and effectively 
* Monitor staff attendance, promptly identify tardy Caregivers, notify client of delay, and determine appropriate remedial actions, if necessary. 
* Handle last minute call-outs or emergency schedule changes . 
* Participate in overnight / on-call duties 1-2 evenings per week and every 3rd weekend. 
* Maintain accurate schedules, attendance records, and clear notes for exceptions in the Company’s systems 
* Document and escalate Client or Caregiver issues to appropriate management for follow-up 
* Utilize multiple phone lines to promptly answer incoming calls, address caller’s needs or appropriately route caller to other office personnel 
* Serve as point of contact for clients and effectively address schedule changes, questions and concerns. Solicit Client feedback per company procedures. 
* Contact and schedule Caregivers for various training sessions and meetings. 

Education/Experience/Skills requirements:

* Minimum 1+ years of experience in a fast-paced, deadline-driven role.
* A diploma in a relevant field, such as administration, is considered an asset.
* Must demonstrate sound judgement and good decision-making skills.
* Upon hire, candidates must provide a clear criminal background check and vulnerable sector check.

Bonus Assets:
• Strong knowledge and proficiency with Office 365.
• Enjoy acting as a resource for Client/employee inquiries.

Client Care Coordinator

Job Details

Home Instead Senior Care is Nova Scotia's trusted source of non-medical care services for older adults who wish to remain living at home. We are looking for a motivated, results-oriented professional for the role of?Client Care Coordinator?who can conduct in-home care consultations, perform quality assurance visits and otherwise manage our client accounts to provide the highest quality service to our senior clients and their families. 

Primary Responsibilities: 

  • Meet with potential clients and family members to discuss their needs and provide solutions in the form of a service plan. 

  • Conduct Service Inquiries and Care Consultations as needed following the consultative sales process. 

  • Work with other team members to coordinate various aspects of a client’s care.  

  • Conduct client/CAREGiver introductions with every new client/CAREGiver.  

  • Create and maintain client and responsible party records documenting all quality assurance meetings.  

  • Recognize and pursue opportunities to modify service plans to best support the ongoing needs of clients through a quality assurance program. 

  • Work with clients and their families on the various issues that may arise to ensure they are getting resolution to issues as well as receiving the services needed. 

  • Recognize and pursue opportunities to introduce Home Instead Senior Care services to RPNs while visiting apartment buildings, condos, assisted living communities and the hospital (superintendents, managers, care managers, nurses, social workers etc.). 

  • Generate weekly, monthly and quarterly performance reports  

  • Participate in community events and networking events as necessary 

  • Conduct care consultations/intros and other on call tasks every 3rd weekend  

Education/Experience Requirements: 

  • LPN, CCA, or a professional in a health-related field 

  • 2+ years of relevant experience

  • Must possess a valid driver's license and a reliable vehicle 

  • Above average written and verbal communication skills 

  • Strong administrative and computer skills 

  • Competitive spirit, capable of working independently 

  • Strong relationship building skills 

  • Self- motivated with excellent prioritizing and time management skills 

  • Proven ability to negotiate, influence and problem solve 

  • The flexibility to work in a 24/7 environment where work outside of office hours can be required
