Jerri was born in Norfolk, Nebraska and grew up on a farm. In April of 1991 she created and owned the first temporary employment agency in Northeast Nebraska. After operating the agency for five years, she sold it and moved to Omaha to obtain her college degree. As a single mother with two small children, she worked part-time jobs and attended college full-time. She graduated from the University of Nebraska with a BA in Organizational Communication and minors in Psychology and Business. As an Entrepreneur and 25 years’ experience with Management and Operations she wanted to do something that mattered, to build a company that created relationships and served the greater good. With her children grown, she realized this passion by purchasing the Colorado Springs HISC franchise office in September of 2010.Jerri now spends her days happily managing the full operations of a rapidly growing franchise. She encourages and leads a team of internal staff and a field CARE team, ensures that high-quality care is provided to our senior population, and leads through an example of high accountability and impeccable integrity.

She received a bachelor’s degree from San Jose State University and has 7 years of experience as a Service Coordinator in home health, nursing facilities, and hospitals.Diana and her brother cared for their mother, who suffered from dementia, at home for 5 years. While the day-to-day care was a struggle, fulfilling the promise to keep her mom at home made it worthwhile. Home Instead Senior Care offers the same “promise of home" to all of its clients, and she loves being a part of that.
Shannon came to Home Instead Senior Care (HISC) with a degree in Business Administration and a concentration in Human Resource Management. Her background is in human resources, business operations, and customer service. She specializes in partnering with community resources to create business solutions for clients. She particularly enjoys the process of searching for new, qualified, and talented individuals to join the Home Instead Senior Care team. Shannon knew after her first meeting with company owner Jerri Schomaker that HISC was a company that made a positive and palpable difference in the lives of seniors and their families, and she wanted to be a part of it. She brings compassion and the ability to build relationships to the team, as well as an understanding of human resource principles that protects the rights of employees and the company.
Kathryn Palmer comes to Home Instead Senior Care with a master’s degree in education, several years of experience as a writer, editor, teacher, and administrative assistant, and a heart full of love for the senior population. She attended Brigham Young University, graduating with a BA in English in 1993, and then completed her MA in Education in 2012 after having raised three remarkable children with her husband of nearly 28 years. Kathryn loves to sing and play the piano, and taught early childhood education music classes for five years while working as a free-lance writer and editor before earning her master’s degree and becoming a high school and then a community college English teacher. After she decided to leave teaching, Kathryn was determined to find another service-oriented, rewarding field where she would still be able to make a positive impact on her community. Her own aging parents and in-laws had begun to turn her focus to the elderly, so Home Instead Senior Care was a natural fit.
Amber was raised in Illinois, and even as a small child she felt the need to help others. In college, she planned to pursue nursing, but unfortunately her brother was in a serious accident that left him paralyzed, and she had to put those plans on hold to care for him full time. She was his caregiver for 2 years before he passed away. At that time, she realized how rewarding it had been to help him through the toughest time of his life.In 2017, Amber moved to Colorado looking for a job in her newly chosen field of caregiving. She chose HISC because she found the culture inspiring. Our motto, “To us, it's personal" felt right, probably because her first time being a caregiver was for her brother, and you can't get much more personal than that. When she walked into the office for her interview, the people there were so welcoming she felt like she belonged.
"I am continually struck by the professionalism, high level of caring and exemplary caregivers that I have met from Home Instead. My mom couldn't live without them, and neither could I.
