Home Instead: A Lifesaver in Critical Times
Thank you Home Instead! During a recent family crisis we found ourselves in need of reliable care for my mom, who has Alzheimer’s. I reached out to Home Instead and they were nothing short of exceptional. Their responsiveness during this critical time was truly remarkable. Within three days they had developed a personalized care plan and identified staff tailored to my mom’s needs.
One of the most reassuring aspects of Home Instead is the quality of their staff. From the initial consultation, coordination, and care provided, every member of their team displays professionalism, empathy, and expertise. The level of personalized attention and detail given to my mom’s care has been outstanding. This level of dedication sets them apart from other companies. I cannot recommend them highly enough!
I wish there were 10 stars to give to this incredible company! My sisters and I, who live out-of-town, had struggled for two years, since my father's passing, to give my elderly, now-widowed mother, the care she deserved. We contacted Chelsey and her team at the Home Instead office in Newport News, and within a day, we had a Care Plan in place so that my mother could safely and happily remain in her own home with a wonderful Care Professional! The Home Instead Team went above and beyond to LISTEN to what we wanted/needed in the way of care for my mother, communicated with our family many times per day, paired my mother with THE PERFECT Care Professional, and they continue to reach out to make sure all is going well for my mother. I have never been so impressed with a company which provides care for seniors than I am with Home Instead of Newport News! I know that my mother is happy and well-cared-for with Tracey, her Care Professional who has exceeded all of our expectations! The peace of mind that my sisters and I now have cannot be adequately expressed. I would wholeheartedly recommend Home Instead of Newport News to all who have an elderly loved one who needs assistance in their own home!
I've been using Home Instead for more than eight years now. I like the worker that they have sent to me. She is very thoughtful and well suited for her job. The best thing is she listens to me. She can come in and sit here beside me and listen to all of my woes. She comes Tuesday and Thursday and it's six hours for each time she's here. When I first started having this, my husband was living and he needed help if I was going to leave somewhere. One of the workers came and sat down and talked to me about what was available and what we could use and how much it would cost and decided on what we ended up having. Right now, they just provide me companionship, but they had offered me more services if I needed them such as bathing myself. I'm called an independent resident here, but Home Instead offered me a maid and a helper to cook meals. We have a dining room and I do have my meals there.
Debbie is the absolute best in terms of helping and supporting my parents. Her care and compassion are immeasurable. She is always on time, if not early ... she goes above and beyond to ensure my parents receive the absolute best care. Debbie is always responsive. I cannot give her a higher recommendation.
We have a Stella 5 days a week, she is always on time giving valuable care to my mother. Paying very close attention to what is going on with her needs and her health. She always alerts me to any changes that I need to know about.
Charlotte has now been with us for over 4 months serving as a caregiver for my wife who has dementia. She is definitely a five-star caregiver. She integrated with our family immediately. She is personable, compassionate, and highly skilled. My wife loves her and interacts better with her than members of our family do. She is always on time and is flexible in extending or changing her hours to meet our doctor or personal needs. I was conflicted about seeking professional caregiving help, but Charlotte and Home Instead is a Godsend.

My wife, Sandy, developed dementia about five years ago. Home Instead came into the picture about 3 years ago to help care for her. She started with a few hours a day, but we soon realized she needed 24 hour care, which was amazing. She continued to decline, which ended in her passing in April of 2023. With the excellent service for my wife, I chose to transfer services to myself. My hours are from 8 a.m. until 9 p.m. My caregivers are Esther, Janice, Tunisia, and Stephanie. I greatly appreciate all the care that I receive, and am especially grateful for the much needed companionship since the passing of my wife. I feel that all the carepros deserve recognition for their diligence and very faithful service to me and my wife.
I have Home Instead for five years now and I use them every day. I have a girl that stays with me and takes me out for my appointments. The service is fine. It couldn't be better. They provide meals and took me wherever places I had to go. She's here every day. Everything that I had to do, she would help and take me.
I am very impressed with the quality of the care my mother is receiving and how Home Instead in Newport News sent a caregiver to start working an overnight shift with her on the same day we had the care consultation meeting and assessment. The caregiver (April) is gentle and very focused on safety. The response is always prompt when I call or email with questions. Hiring Home Instead has allowed my father, brother, and I to get some much-needed rest after caring for my mother during the day.
Home Instead in Manhattan has an amazing staff, both in the office and in the field. Managing my father’s care from almost 300 miles away has been so much easier with their help. The aides working with my dad are kind, patient, brilliant problem solvers and we just love them all. Our care manager, Jessica, always responds super fast when we need help and has been an incredible blessing on this difficult journey. Highly recommend!!
Excellent experience. Good honest answers by the leadership (Holly) to my searching questions gave me peace to try Home Instead. The caregiver (Dawn) has proven to be the best “medicine” for my wife afflicted with dementia. Despite being nonverbal, she began began talking more, smiling more etc!
Everyone at Home Instead in Newport News has been wonderful for my Mom and Dad. The care and comfort Toni, Gloria, and Jacinda provide my Mom is exceptional and so appreciated, especially by my Dad who was a little reluctant at first. He tells me all the time how much he appreciates them being there!
Before our care giver with Home Instead, our senior with Alzheimer's would sleep most of the day and we would have trouble getting her out of bed. With 12 hrs a week with Home Instead, she is happy to get out of bed to spend time with her care giver! They play games together and bake cookies. She also had more energy the rest of the week. Thank you Home Instead for giving our senior a better quality of life help her do the things she likes to do!
We have used Home Instead for care services for my mother. So far, it has been a wonderful experience. The caregiver for mom is very conscientious, professional, friendly, tolerant and caring. She always arrives on time and is very dedicated to her care giving. She and my mom seem to really get along well. I find their prices to be reasonable and I am happy with the billing process. Home Instead is a nice company - my siblings and I are very pleased with them.
Home Instead provided us with the perfect match for our family. Our caregiver is energetic and so helpful around the house. Trying to get my husband to shower was a big stressor for me. Somehow she is able to get him to take a bath every time she comes. She is fantastic and I can't say enough good things about the care she is providing my husband! I look forward to the days she comes as much as my husband does. She is truly an angel.

We have used another provider but Home Instead has been a vast improvement versus our other experience. I was very skeptical to look for other agency because of the experience we were dealing with before. A friend of mine told me to call Home Instead. She said she met a guy from there at a golf event and said he was extremely nice and could tell he was passionate about what he does and could help. I gave Home Instead a call and that guy came out to meet with us. Chuck understood our pains and an apologized for them. Which brought a tear to my eye, he apologized for the other companies mistakes. He also said that we care for those who once cared for us and that seniors deserve the utmost respect and highest care possible. That is what Home Instead is all about. The care givers that work with my dad are loving, caring, patient and the office is very responsive. A huge improvement over the other local agency. I now can see why Chuck said that Home Instead care givers love what they do and its not really work for them it fulfills their hearts to care for others. If anyone is looking for a quality, professional home care company, I highly endorse Home Instead Senior Care. My mother, in her mid-eighties, just needed a little help with everyday chores and activities such as cooking, housekeeping, laundry, going to the store and appointments, etc. The caregivers are always on time, and always show great compassion, caring and patience. Sometimes you just need a little extra help and if you find yourself in this position, don't hesitate to contact Chuck at Home Instead Senior Care, he is an remarkable youngman who cares not only about my mother but for me as well.
