John Hawk - Owner

John Hawk, Owner

John learned about Home Instead when his grandmother needed care. He saw the impact Home Instead had not only on his grandmother, but on his parents as well – allowing them to resume a normal life while the CAREGiver, Sandy, took care of “Grammy.” John loves being a part of an organization that brings so much value to people in need. Outside of work, John enjoys golfing and spending time with family.

Andie Gomez - General Manager

Andie Gomez, General Manager

Andie came to Home Instead in 2019 from a long-term care facility that also supported aging adults. Her empathetic heart was the perfect match for Home Instead Charlotte. As our General Manager, Andie makes sure that our clients’ needs are first and foremost each day. She oversees and supports not only the admin team, but our Care Professionals as well. Andie is also a first point of contact when potential clients or families call our office in need of assistance. 

Andie explains how important her role is and how much pride she takes in it. "To support our community, I act as a leader in education and support. With a gentle approach, I LISTEN to what families need or what their concerns and challenges are. My goal is then, to put their minds at ease while providing them with the necessary information to make informed decisions about their loved ones. I want to help each family coordinate care, keeping their loved one at home for as long as possible or to provide them with additional assistance in a community living setting."

Toni Beer, HR Manager

As our HR Manager, Toni oversees the day-to-day functions of the Scheduling and Recruiting and Retention Departments. She is responsible for ensuring that our Care Professionals have the resources they need to provide exceptional care to our clients. She inspires Care Pros, provides moral support, and reinforces Home Instead's policies and procedures. She leads our teams with kindness, confidence and composure. 

Toni shares she believes in this quote written by Maya Angelou "I've learned that people will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel.” Working at Home Instead has given me the opportunity to fulfill my passion to care for older adults and support the Care Professionals who take care of them every day.

Jackie Donnell - Recruiting Coordinator

Jackie Donnell, Recruiting Coordinator

As part of the Recruiting and Retention team, Jackie is responsible for recruiting new, wonderful Care Professionals and beginning the onboarding process. She has been committed to creating an exceptional team that truly cares for our seniors as if they were family. Beginning as a CAREGiver in 2003 with Home Instead Charlotte she knows what it takes to share your heart to your client. She is known by all of us as a gentle soul with a kind smile. 

Jackie explains how getting to know others who are passionate about caretaking is one of her favorite parts of her job.
"I get the opportunity to meet many applicants looking to become Home Instead Care Pros. They share their stories and express their passions and desires to care for others. Many of them never realized that they were already caregivers. I look forward to telling them about Home Instead and explaining how we are the best in the area when it comes to Care Pros. After all, I am a prime example." 

Cassandra Herbin - Recruitment and Engagement Coordinator

Cassandra Herbin, Recruitment and Engagement Coordinator

As Recruitment and Engagement Coordinator, Cassandra uses her previous experience as a Home Instead Care Professional to onboard and train new talented Care Pros. Cassandra came to Home Instead in 2009 where she was a Care Pro in the field for many years. Her kindness and giving heart made her the perfect fit for the office. She spends her days finding and getting to know prospective Care Pros. She focuses on bringing in qualified individuals that will share their hearts and give their very best to our clients and their families.

Karen Kurey, Director of Client Care

As the Director of Client Care, Karen says this is her dream job because she loves working with clients, families and our Care Professionals to help older adults thrive in their homes. She joined the Home Instead Charlotte franchise in 2006 and has remained devoted to our mission ever since. Karen's kind heart and infectious laugh make her impossible to forget. She is truly loved by everyone who meets her. 

Karen describes how fulfilling her role as the Director of Client Care - "One of the most gratifying aspects of my job is being a witness to the incredible long-term friendships that develop between a client and Care Professional."

Consuelo Whiskey - Client Care Coordinator

Consuelo Whiskey, Client Care Coordinator

Consuelo began her Home Instead career in 2010 as a CAREGiver and quickly became a favorite in Clients’ homes. Now as a Client Care Coordinator, with her immeasurable experience, professionalism, and kindness, she spends time with clients in different role. Consuelo meets with potential clients and their families to share information about Home Instead’s services. Once on board, she regularly connects with them to ensure that they are receiving exceptional care. She loves bringing peace of mind to her clients, their family members, and friends. Consuelo is always there to help them celebrate the good times as well as to face and work through the challenging ones with grace and dignity.
Janice Coombs - Client Care Coordinator/Lead Care Pro

Janice Coombs, Client Care Coordinator, LEAD Care Professional

Like many of our office team members, Janice started her Home Instead career in 2012, in a Client's home as a CAREGiver. As our home care family expanded over Mecklenburg County, we needed an exceptional Lead Care Professional who could introduce new Care Pros to clients and provide additional training in the field. Leadership agreed that with her experience and personality, she would be an ideal fit. Shortly after, Janice took on the dual role of a Client Care Coordinator as well. Her main duties include quality assurance visits which ensure services are meeting the needs of clients, in-home introductions to cultivate great Care Pro and client relationships, and coordinating care for new clients.

Diane Blanchfield - RN Supervisor

Diane Blanchfield, RN Supervisor

As an RN Supervisor, Diane wears many fabulous hats. She has a wealth of knowledge, expertise in her field, and allows Home Instead to meet State standards, through her detailed assessments and evaluations of our new clients coming on board as well as through regular visits with our long-term clients. Additionally, she evaluates the skills of all Care Professionals as they join our team and on a yearly basis. She has even taken over the grand task of presenting Home Instead’s specialized Alzheimer’s training to our admin staff and Care Pros to ensure we are providing the best service possible to our clients. Diane’s impeccable attitude and support to the team is invaluable!

Connie Timmerman, RN Supervisor

Connie has joined our team as an RN Supervisor with a wealth of experience in the field. She has many years of acute care experience, as well as supervisory experience in senior care in a both a facility setting and in home care. Connie takes deep pride in her work and wants to do well in all she does. Her kind and compassionate demeanor make her a perfect addition to our Home Instead Family! “I love going to as many client’s homes as I can to connect with the client’s and their family members. It is so meaningful to me!” reflects Connie on her position.

Darla Brace - Staffing Supervisor

Darla Brace, Staffing Supervisor

Darla offers much compassion in her role as the Staffing Supervisor.  She also oversees the daily operations of the Staffing Department and On-Call Team. Darla relies on her years of scheduling and leadership experience to ensure Staffing is creating perfect matches between clients and their Care Professionals. Her ability to adapt to sudden changes with effective solutions often gives her the title of scheduling wizard.

"Clients and family members tell us all of the time how we make a difference in their lives" Darla explains how rewarding creating a lasting bond between clients, families and their Care Professionals is.

Barb Anderson - Assistant Staffing Coordinator

As our Assistant Staffing Coordinator, Barb is a dynamic addition to our team.  She assists Darla with creating perfect matches between our clients and Care Professionals. Barb previously worked with Virginia’s Department of Social Services for approximately 30 years and spent 15 of them as an Emergency Planning Specialist! She has spent her life being dedicated to serving others and creating order out of stressful situations. We are grateful to have her on our team and providing support to our clients and Care Professionals.

Barb expresses what she enjoys in her new role - “I love the challenge of knowing I have helped someone get coverage with a Care Pro. There is good stress involved also. I get a rush after I have found just the right person to cover a shift.”

K'Nesha Maddox - Home Care Consultant

K'Nesha Maddox, Home Care Consultant

K’Nesha is a bold and shining star at Home Instead. She has gained invaluable knowledge in her current role as our Home Care Consultant through her own personal experience as a Home Instead client. Additionally, K’Nesha has previously supported the Staffing department and as an On-Call Supervisor giving her a great understanding of our services and benefits to the community. Her bright smile, amazing style, and soothing voice allow her to make an impact as she visits and connects with referral providers across Mecklenburg County! K’Nesha has a deep passion for supporting families during their time of need and uses her skills and kindness to provide them with comfort and guidance.

Debbie plays an integral role in ensuring that the administrative and financial aspects of our business run smoothly. She has been with Home Instead Charlotte since 2006. Debbie not only comes with a wealth of knowledge but also a kind and gentle heart.
