Adult Day Care & Respite Services

​The Home Instead franchise in Clawson has served more than 4,200 seniors in Southeast Oakland County since 1999. And for their 25th Anniversary, they are excited to announce a new service line being offered to the community starting in December of 2023. A limited number of full-day and half-day memberships are now available for adult day care and respite care services at their location at 800 North Crooks in Clawson.

“In-home care has become incredibly expensive,” says owner Bert Copple. “To have a caregiver come into your home Monday through Friday for nine hours a day can cost about $1,440 dollars per week. This is simply unaffordable for the majority of seniors and their families. Our new adult day care and respite program can provide 9 hours of care each day at our location for about $720 each week. That is a huge savings of fifty percent.”

The care is provided in the Home Instead building, Monday through Friday, from 8:30 am to 5:30 pm. Members bring their own lunch. Snacks are provided in the morning and afternoon. The Clawson location is limited to five full-day members or ten half-day members.

To qualify for this kind of care, memberships require a monthly commitment to reserve your space. A required in-take meeting with our nurse is done to ensure that the member is receiving care that is custodial in nature only. For example, members can have early stages of dementia only, must be able to follow verbal prompts and instructions, must be able to meet minimum transfer and mobility requirements, and must require minimum incontinence support such as bathroom reminders or foley bag care.

“We can provide medication reminders, assistance with ADLs such as toileting or incontinence care, stand-by assistance for ambulation, and assistance with glucose monitoring and diabetic care,” adds Copple. “Our professionally trained staff provides planned activities throughout the day to enhance interactions and to help keep members awake and active during the day to help them sleep better at night, preventing day-night reversal and reducing evening agitation while they are home.”

As this new program is being launched, the first two full-day members or four half-day members will receive an additional discount as we work to build out this new service to our community. “Once this location is launched and we determine a need in our community, the goal is to expand to a larger location that can provide care to 15-20 members using the same program and care.”
