Just like most families, we took vacations to Banff, Dinosaur Provincial Park and the badlands. And I'll never forget the excitement of the Calgary Stampede. But the memories I treasure most are simple ones of times shared with Dad, like the first time he let me "caddy" for him at the golf course, giving me a crisp 20-dollar bill when we finished, even though he had to carry the bag for the last 8 holes.

Even though Dad's alone now, he loves living in the old house with the familiar pictures he and Mom hung on the walls so many years ago. He still goes to the course for his Thursday morning round with his buddies. But lately I've noticed some changes. He gets confused and can't find things around the house, and last week I found out he hadn't paid the phone bill. He's such an independent guy and I can't imagine moving him to assisted living or a nursing home. He just needs a little help, but I can't be there every day.
