Results of Study from the National Alliance for Caregiving and AARP Revealed at June 4 Congressional Briefing


Home Instead Chief Advocacy Officer Jisella Dolan with Gail Gibson Hunt, President and CEO of the National Alliance for CaregiviAs part of the Home Instead Senior Care commitment to family caregivers, Home Instead, Inc., is proud to announce its sponsorship of Caregiving in the U.S. 2015. This joint research study between the National Alliance for Caregiving and AARP provides new insights into higher-hour caregivers (21+ hours of care a week), caregivers age 75 and older, multicultural caregivers (including African American/Black, Hispanic/Latino, and Asian American/Pacific Islander populations), and the challenges facing caregivers in the workplace. The study was made possible through generous sponsorship from AARP, Archstone Foundation, Eli Lilly, Home Instead Senior Care, MetLife Foundation, Pfizer, UnitedHealthcare, and the Family Support Research and Training Center in conjunction with the University of Illinois at Chicago.

The National Alliance for Caregiving and AARP convened policymakers, family caregiving advocates, aging professionals, and others for the release of the research study, Caregiving in the U.S. 2015. Speakers and notable attendees include:

  • U.S. Representative Diane Black (R-TN)
  • U.S. Representative Michelle Lujan Grisham (D-NM)
  • Gail Gibson Hunt, President/CEO, National Alliance for Caregiving and Member of the PCORI Board of Governors
  • Susan Reinhard, RN, PhD, FAAN, Senior Vice President and Director, AARP Public Policy Institute & Chief Strategist, Center to Champion Nursing in America
  • Family caregivers from New Mexico, Tennessee

Jisella Dolan, Home Instead Senior Care Chief Advocacy Officer, attended the briefing and met with caregiving advocates from government, non-profit organizations and private industry.
