Since 2016, Meals of Joy has been a meal with joy… and hope! Every day, low-income seniors living in the West Valley of Phoenix, AZ make the impossible choice between using their funds for basic needs such as health care or eating a healthy meal. Of the elderly living in Maricopa County, over 80,000 seniors live under the poverty level of $1,100 per month. They spend money on housing, electricity, doctor visits, medicines, then finally comes food and necessities. The unfortunate statistic is that by 2050 Arizona's elderly population will triple in size and represent 26% of the population. That will mean that more seniors will be at risk of going hungry.
Meals of Joy prepares and delivers freshly made, delicious, and nutritious meals directly to seniors' doorsteps five days a week by volunteers showing smiles on their faces offering kind words. This one-to-one personal visit is so important as it often is the only interaction a senior has in a day.
Your donations will fund their NO-COST MEAL PROGRAM for seniors living below the poverty level or with challenging medical conditions in the nine communities in Arizona they serve (Surprise, Goodyear, Litchfield Park, Peoria, Sun Valley, Sun Valley West, Tolleson, Buckeye, and Avondale).
