Mona - November 2020 CAREGiver of the Month
Our Caregiver of the month is Mona. She was born in Nevada and when her parents divorced, she spent time in Nevada and Alaska. She is married and has one son and 3 grandchildren. Her and her husband Darryl lived in Fairbanks, AK up until 3 years ago. She worked as a sous chef at Westmark and as a baker at Safeway in Alaska. They moved to Arizona as “snowbirds” but ended up staying here.
Mona came to work for Home Instead in January of 2020. What makes her a great caregiver? She has a such a big heart and loves taking care of people. She took care of her late father, who had dementia, and her husband who has leukemia. Mona took caregiving classes at Virginia Piper that were specifically tailored to caring for someone with Leukemia. These classes helped her care for her husband, who is now in remission.
