Kari Smith, Franchise Owner

Kari Smith, Franchise Owner

Kari stepped into her new role as owner at the beginning of September 2019. She is thrilled to be working with the caring office staff and CAREGivers here at Home Instead Senior Care in Olympia and surrounding areas. She and her husband both grew up in Olympia, met in high school and moved back to raise their four children near their families in a community they have loved. They own two Cutters Point Coffee shops in Lacey, WA and have run those over the last 14 years. She most recently worked at Olympia High School in the office serving students, teachers and parents.

She has a passion for serving people, whether that is through the ministry of Young Life where she volunteers with high school and middle school students or through the church where her husband is the pastor at Grace Community Covenant Church or at home with her four kids running around to soccer, basketball, football or baseball games and practices or to the ballet studio and theater or just trying to get dinner on the table for the whole family to sit down and eat together!! She is about people, which is what drew her and Rhyan to Home Instead Senior Care.

This business is about serving people, sometimes in their greatest need, and we get the privilege to step into those places with families and we consider it an honor. To us, it's personal.

Kari enjoys traveling to explore new places and cultures and spectating at her kids' activities watching them love what they do!

Rhyan Smith, Franchise Owner

Rhyan is thankful for the opportunity that Home Instead Senior Care gets to step in and help families sometimes in their greatest time of need. He and Kari started their time as owners at the beginning of September 2019 and he is encouraged to get to be part of the caring, compassionate staff here in the Olympia office.

He will continue to serve full-time as the pastor at Grace Community Covenant Church off of Yelm Hwy in Olympia but will be an integral part of our team by building relationships with employees and community members learning how we can help and offer encouragement and solutions to aging adults and their families.

Helping others has been what has defined most of who Rhyan is as he has served in ministry roles over the years through Young Life and churches serving youth and their families and then the entirety of the church body and all that encompasses the joys and struggles of real life of real people. Life is not always easy and he hopes Home Instead Senior Care can help in whatever ways would be beneficial to our clients and their families.

Rhyan enjoys coaching youth football and basketball, traveling with his family and getting in a round of golf every once in a while!

Connie Royster, General Manager

Connie Royster, General Manager

Connie Royster is our General Manager, and a native of Olympia. Connie has been advocating for seniors for over 25 years, which is when she began owning and managing her own Adult Family Home. Connie's entire life has been spent working and caring for those who are most vulnerable - children, those with special needs, the disabled, and seniors. Connie has served on the Board of Directors for a local Senior Center, and a local Supported Living Group Home Association. She has also spent many years in full time church ministry.

Connie is married, has two adult daughters, and two very special grandchildren! Outside of work she enjoys teaching Sunday School, playing wither her grandchildren, singing and watching movies.

Susi Mantyla, Service Coordinator

Susi Mantyla works at the Olympia Home Instead Senior Care office as our Client Care Coordinator. Her first exposure to Home Instead Senior Care was as a CAREGiver. She quickly realized she loved what she did so she then became the Office Coordinator, helping out at the front desk and then moved into the Service Coordinator role. She has settled into her current role as our Client Care Coordinator. Susi is the voice many hear when working to make great matches between the client and the CAREGiver and making sure our clients are receiving the best possible care available.

Outside of work, Susi and her husband enjoy travel which has included amazing locations such as, New Zealand, Hawaii, and all over the U.S. They also enjoy family time with their daughter and son in law, and 2 rescue dogs.

Alicia Fox, Service Coordinator

Alicia Fox, Recruitment and Engagement Coordinator

Alicia is the Recruitment and Engagement Coordinator here at the Olympia Home Instead office. As a key player in our office, she recognizes the importance of building strong relationships and a foundation of trust with our clients and CAREGivers. By building on these principles, she keeps things running smoothly and efficiently in our office for our clients, their family members and our CAREGivers.

From a young age, Alicia's parents instilled the value of giving back and helping others. Since then, she has been the Vice President of the PTA, served as a Camp Fire Leader, and has bettered her community by donating her time and efforts to the homeless and locals in need. Alicia's previous care experience includes caregiving for Developmentally Disabled children and adults, those with Alzheimer's, and those receiving Hospice care.

When she is not focusing on her Scheduling duties at the office, Alicia enjoys spending time with her friends and family. Her favorite getaway is picturesque Orcas Island. She loves visiting to collect hidden treasure souvenirs and to go whale watching.

Julie Wade, Client Care Coordinator Assistant

Julie moved to Olympia in 2019 from her native home of Texas. She worked as a hairdresser for 24 years, and then got her degree in psychology and began work in a hospital in various capacities. She worked her way into management, but soon realized she was more of a people person. When she made the move to Olympia, someone asked her if she had ever thought of caregiving. The answer was an emphatic yes! After all, the senior population is her favorite to work with.

She did some research and found Home Instead. She loved all the reviews and upon meeting all the staff, she knew she had found her new work home. After working as a CAREGiver she offered her expertise in the office when needed and has been an added blessing with her office experience. She has found the purpose she had been longing for by meeting with and working with clients and their family members.

Julie has two lovely daughters she could not be more proud of. She is also so fortunate to have four grandchildren that she looks forward to seeing during her Texas visits. She loves singing, taking in her new surroundings, and getting snuggles from her senior hospice, foster pup!

Skye McCoy, Service Coordinator

Skye is the Scheduling Coordinator here at the Olympia Home Instead office.  She started caring for people at the age of 16 where she volunteered at Clare Bridge in Puyallup WA, helping with resident activities.  Once she turned 18 years old, she began her journey as a resident assistant specializing in Dementia and Alzheimer's.  While going to college, she switched from assisted living to a family home, later discovering in-home care and fell in love with all aspects of caring for people even more. 

Growing up Skye volunteered any free time to local organizations including participating in her church youth group.  She now volunteers with Military Veterans with her family. 

When she is not focusing on her scheduling duties at the office, Skye enjoys spending her free time with her four cats, singing, dancing, painting, and walking the beach.

Jill Hankins, Service Coordinator Assistant

Jill is our new Service Coordinator Assistant. Jill moved to Lacey from Kirkland, Washington in the spring of 2015. In her previous role, she worked for ten years in the day spa industry as a Licensed Massage Practitioner and a Licensed Esthetician. The fall of 2016, she enrolled at South Puget Sound Community College (SPSCC), and in June of 2019, she graduated with an Associate in Arts degree. Once more, the fall of 2019, she returned to SPSCC and by spring quarter 2020, she completed her academic pathway in Office Administration.

Jill has a passion for helping others, so while attending college, she worked with seniors as a Home Care Aide. After completing college her desire and dedication to help others continues. In her current office position, she looks forward to meeting new clients, supporting the Home Instead team and connecting with the community as well.

Finally, away from her work environment, Jill enjoys painting, hiking, spending time with her daughter, son-in-law, little grandson, and loving Cavapoo.      

Trina Townsend, Lead CAREGiver

Trina Townsend, Lead CAREGiver

Trina knew at a young age that she loved helping people. Even in junior high she volunteered at a school for those who were handicapped. She has taught Sunday School, Vacation Bible School and was a camp counselor. After earning her AA degree in California with certification as a dietary supervisor and culinary emphasis, she soon learned that her love for people was stronger than her love of cooking. She lived in and worked at a group home for adults with developmental disabilities for 12 years. She moved to Washington where she continued to work in group homes and coached Special Olympics.

She became a CNA and then worked in a nursing home and soon discovered she was more suited for in-home care and is delighted to be part of the Home Instead team. She loves the fact that she gets to be a CAREGiver and help provide tools needed to support other CAREGivers.

When not working, she enjoys volunteering with a ministry that helps people get food and other needs met.

Marisa Sanchez, Lead CAREGiver

Marisa was born and raised in the Great Pacific Northwest. Having come from a big wonderful family, she always valued making people feel cared for and taken care of. She realized that caregiving was her heart's work after working with children with disabilities for over three years and later expanded her skills working with seniors. She is always enthusiastic about meeting a new client and more than eager to whip up a good home cooked meal!

Starting at Home Instead in 2017 she was blown away by the supportive work family she found allowing her to become an even better CAREgiver than before! Being able to help other CAREGivers grow has become a loved part of her job.

Outside of work Marisa loves to spend time exploring the great outdoors with her husband and dog and also finding new arts and craft skills she can tackle.
