Home Instead is looking for a Registered Nurse (RN), LPN or a person with at least 7-10 years experience in Health related field who is ready for a rewarding full-time career in a more causal and relaxing environment that still allows them to utilize their extensive nursing experience. In this position the Nurse / Trainer & Recruiter will assist our Recruiter to hire, train, and oversee our many Caregivers that work with our in-home clients. Although Home Instead focuses on "non-skilled / non-medical" services like bathing, transferring, meal preparation, and companionship, this position requires regular interaction with the agencies that provide the skilled / medical services for our clients in their homes.

Home Instead has offices in Topeka and Lawrence and our Caregivers serve clients in both Shawnee and Douglas Counties, however this position only involves occasional travel to those areas.

The Nurse / Trainer & Recruiter is expected to perform a variety of duties that relate to training and hiring including:

  • Create a monthly training calendar
  • Schedule and conduct Caregiver Training, Quarterly On-site Quality Assurance Visits, and performance reviews
  • Assist with the Recruitment of Caregivers by responding to employment inquiries, interviewing, and hiring in a professional and friendly manner
  • Monitor and comply with federal and local labor and safety laws
  • Enter and maintain accurate Caregiver records in the operating system
  • Maintain regular attendance at the office to execute job responsibilities
  • Demonstrate open and effective communication with owner, colleagues and Caregivers
  • Schedule and conduct Caregiver Orientation
  • Evaluate and update all orientation and training materials as needed
  • Develop monthly in-service topics to meet Caregiver and office needs
  • Develop, plan and facilitate quarterly Caregiver Meetings
  • Be able to easily learn new software and be able to generate reports and interpret the data provided by the reports
  • Degree and an active license as a Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) required
