Where did you grow up?
I grew up in Lexington ,Virginia , spent summers with my my paternal grandmother in Georgia.

What's your favorite part of caregiving?
My favorite part of caregiving is growing a relationship with my client. The relationship you establish with them gives them comfort in knowing they’re loved and cared about. I feel even as a person’s health declines that they still feel comfort in knowing no matter what changes come their way that their caregiver will remain the same -- always with a smile on their face and a peace about them.
Tell us a little about yourself
My road to caregiving and volunteering began after my mother passed away with brain cancer at the age of 59 I started off volunteering to read with cancer patients through hospice. As I wasn’t quite old enough to start working in the caregiver field. I wanted to be a good listener, a neutral party. Mostly I just wanted to be a friend to them in their time of need. After high school I remained a volunteer as well as became a supervisor for a company that made aviation life rafts. As a second job I became a private duty caregiver at various times in my life. Each experience helped shape the way for me to now do this full-time -- as it’s truly a joy to enhance someone’s quality of life. I became a wife and mother which is my first love. I have 4 daughters, 1 son and two grandsons. In my off time we like to spend time at the lake or gathered around the table eating homemade goodies or playing board games.
