Congratulations to the November 2022 Care Professional of the Month - Sandy Christmas!
Where were you born and where did you grow up?
I was born and raised in Louisa, the youngest of nine. When people hear that I have eight siblings, I jokingly say that my parents didn’t have anything else to do. They were fruitful and multiplied. Believe it or not, we have a small family compared to others. My aunt had 13 and so did my pastor. One of my cousins had 21.
How long have you worked at Home Instead?
I have been with HI for almost 3 years. I started just before COVID hit in March of 2020. I was in the job center looking at listings when I noticed a listing for a company called Home Instead.
What’s your favorite part of caregiving?
I think my favorite part of caregiving is getting to know my clients, their likes and dislikes, what keeps them happy, etc. This helps me to anticipate my clients’ needs almost before they do. I wish that I could take on more clients, but because of my allergies, I have to stay away from dogs and cats.
Tell us a little about yourself.
My name is Cassandra. Sandy is a nickname. Cassandra is actually Greek. I don’t know where my mom got the name. A gentleman asked me once if I was Greek. I never responded. I believe the name means “helps” as in a “gift of helps”.
