Wanda Lynch, Home Instead of Charlottesville July 2022 Care Professional of the Month

Congratulations to the July 2022 Care Professional of the Month - Wanda L.

We would like to congratulate Wanda Lynch for being our Care Professional of the Month for July. She has been with us since December 2013. Not only is she very reliable, Wanda is also very dedicated to her clients. Words that come to mind about Wanda are: attentive, conscientious, personable and kind-hearted.

Where Were You Born

I was born right here in Charlottesville at Martha Jefferson Hospital.

Where did you grow up?

I was raised in Fluvanna County across the street from my grandparents’ farm.

How long have you worked at HISC?

Eight and a half years, working with the same family.

What's your favorite part of caregiving?

My favorite part of caregiving is a hard question to answer because from a young age I've been helping to take care of people-- young and old. But I think my favorite part is when you're doing something with a client and they get that grin of absolute happiness. It doesn't happen all the time but when it does it seems to refuel my love for this work.

Tell us a little about yourself

I am the oldest of 4 children, and like I mentioned before, I've always been caring for people. My mother had worked with the elderly and differently-abled my entire life (she tells stories of me in my baby swing at the adult daycare centers). So I've always been comfortable around that type of setting. My aunt saw at a young age that I liked to help take care of people so she helped me learn how to care for children. She always said I'd grow up to help people. My grandmother had health problems as I grew up, and when I was older I would help with her. I got married at 19 and then helped care for my new niece and nephew.  In my spare time, when I'm not filling in to help care for my grandfather or helping my parents wrangle the zoo we call our pets (fun fact: we have a mini pig that lives in the house and loves my mother!), I like to play video games, research different topics that I'm interested in and I enjoy cooking.
