Meet Our Team

Betty Phillips, Owner

Betty Phillips, Owner

Betty took a summer job working in a nursing home immediately out of high school before she went off to Ohio University to study Medical Dietetics that fall. She developed her passion for helping Seniors and became aware of the challenges they face with rehabilitation, isolation, moving out of their homes., family dynamics, the progression of geriatric disease and ailments but also the joy and vast experiences they have to share with those willing to listen. She worked at the same nursing home every summer and after graduation for a total of eight years. She continued her education in senior care by attending Franklin University to further her knowledge in Healthcare Management and Administration where she expanded her scope into managing a Senior Care facility. Betty found Home Instead Senior Care through a couple of local owners who educated and marketed the services to her for her clients and she thought "That's it, all these seniors need is a little help at home, and they can stay home forever." She started her Home Instead Senior Care September 1, 2008. Betty is married and has two adult children. The love of her life is Preston her 8-year-old Springer Spaniel who does come to the office and spend the day occasionally.

Kelsey Thompson, Home Care Consultant

Kelsey Thompson, Home Care Consultant

Kelsey has had a strong desire to work with seniors since being raised by her grandparents in rural Kentucky. Growing up, her grandparents taught her the importance of giving back to others and taking the time to listen to people's stories. She took this wisdom she learned from her grandparents and applies it to each day. She began working with seniors after earning her STNA certification from Elizabethtown Community and Technical College in 2014 at Loretto Motherhouse Infirmary. From there she learned the true meaning of giving back to seniors, while also becoming aware of the challenges that can come with aging. Kelsey then moved from her hometown in Kentucky to Denver, Colorado, where she continued to care for those aging in place and furthering her education, earning a Bachelor's of Science degree in Human Services with a concentration in Mental Health. After graduating, Kelsey moved to Columbus and discovered Home Instead Senior Care. In her role, she bring clients onboard, works with the family to create a care plan, keeps touch points with all parties involved in the care plan and does quality assurance through home visits and phone calls. Kelsey wants to continue to learn how she can better care for those who are aging and give to others as her grandparents have for her.

Because he has great passion to help others, it was easy for Steve to relate to Home Instead’s values right from the start. He feels proud that Home Instead is in the business of helping people stay in their homes safely and allows them to maintain an independent life style. Steve has been a part of the Home Instead team for three years and oversees the recruiting, interviewing and training of employees.
