Lakelyn Hogan, gerontologist and caregiver advocate, was recently featured on Hallmark’s Home & Family. During the segment, Lakelyn promotes our social movement, Ready to Care, advocating to increase the world’s capacity to care for seniors.

The next time you’re out and about, look around. Do you notice more and more older adults around you? You may not yet, but society is changing. Soon, people over age 65 will outnumber younger ones, and it’s not just in your neighborhood. The global population is graying at astonishing rates, and it’s not slowing down anytime soon. Our rapidly aging society is poised to impact us all. By 2050, the 65+ population will be more than double that of the world’s youngest citizens. Additionally, the fastest-growing segment of the U.S. population is 85+. As our older adult population grows globally, so will the number of people who need every day help.

This movement inspires and empowers people through service, education, and giving. We hope that those who join in Ready to Care will be more aware of the older adults around them and we hope they will be encouraged to do little acts of care and service that make a positive impact.
