Home Instead® Care Professional of the Month Clarisa Jones is one of the special ones. Home Instead franchise owner Todd Felker pointed out: “Clarisa has a knack of reaching her clients in ways where others struggle.” That has been an unfailing, compassionate quality for Clarisa, who joined the award-winning Collin County franchise in Plano, Texas, four years ago.
“Clarisa is very consistent and dedicated to her clients. Clarisa has been with her current client for a few years. The family just loves her and all she does for them,” Todd said. He and Mentor/Trainer Amanda Ross said they were honored to announce Clarisa had been selected as a Care Pro of the Month for the Dallas-area franchise. Compliments for Clarisa’s skillful and empathetic care have been no surprise.
Clarisa has been working as a professional caregiver since 1992, and she is glad to be a member of Collin County’s Care Pro team. “I had heard many people talk about their great experience with Home Instead, and I decided to check the company out,” Clarisa recalled.
“The moment I walked in the door, Todd, Diane and Kelly provided me with such a warm welcome. They each listened to my wants and needs and worked hard to make them happen. They each have such great and patient personalities, and this has made me want to continue working for this company.”
Family caregiving has been a continuing focus for Clarisa. “I’ve provided care for my sister who had a brain aneurysm. I’ve also provided care for another sister, who we thought had multiple sclerosis. I currently provide care for my brother who lives in a nursing home as a result of multiple strokes,” Clarisa explained.
With her family and professional caregiving background, Clarisa has been a great addition for Home Instead. Her experience has come in handy when challenges arise. “Over the years,” Clarisa said, “I have worked in many different capacities. I started my professional caregiving career by providing 24-hour, live-in care for several families for about 15 years. I’ve also provided care to the elderly in nursing homes. Now I’m providing daily care to the elderly while they get to remain in the comfort of their own homes. It’s been a very good experience for me to work with the elderly. I have learned a lot about them, their families and their lives.”
Clarisa added: “Just being around the elderly has been rewarding for me and my life. The love, care and appreciation I receive from them makes me want to give them everything they are asking for so they can have a peaceful life.”
When asked what she likes best about working as a Care Pro, Clarisa replied: “I get the opportunity to make the elderly feel comfortable by providing good quality care. I get to laugh and talk, meet new people, accompany them to their medical appointments and more. You might even get to play games with them or have lunch out somewhere.”
Among her memorable experiences, Clarisa recalled when one of her clients was still able to drive. “While he had a sports car,” Clarisa said, “he didn’t drive fast nor did he have any accidents. He was just a gentle, kind person with whom I got to talk, and watch TV and movies. I also accompanied him to doctors’ appointments and went with him for his weekly grocery shopping trips.”
