Tierra Loves to Serve Seniors

There’s one thing everyone should know about Home Instead® Care Professional of the Month Tierra: The humble senior-care specialist loves being a part of the Care Pro team for her Waterford franchise, a member of a network comprised of Home Instead, Inc. and its parent company, Honor. Serving as a Care Pro is more than just a job for Tierra.

With the world’s largest home-care network and the most advanced care platform, Honor and Home Instead are revolutionizing care for older adults, their families and Care Pros. Combined, the network has more than 100,000 Care Pros across 13 countries, meeting the growing needs of millions of older adults and their families worldwide. Tierra is one of those outstanding Care Pros.

Tierra works for owner Glenna Yaroch’s award-winning Home Instead office that serves North Oakland County, including Waterford, Clarkston, West Bloomfield and 15 other communities. The franchise’s general manager, Gail M. Wilk, announced Tierra’s honor earlier this spring.

“Tierra is among our Care Pros who have provided excellent care and put their clients first. Tierra is well-loved by our clients and their family members. I am proud to acknowledge Tierra and our fellow honorees, and I certainly am proud to work with them. My most highly valued principles are ‘go the extra mile ... it is never crowded’ and ‘the quieter you become, the more you can hear.’ You can see those qualities reflected in Tierra’s character.”

For Tierra and her co-workers, touching their clients’ lives impacts their souls, whether they are providing physical help such as light housekeeping, meal preparation, medication reminders or personal care or if they are offering emotional support in a companionship role.

In addition to her other Care Pro skills, Tierra provides safety assurance, transportation and errands. She offers personal assistance with eating, grooming, dressing, bathing, incontinence care, cognitive impairment, hospice support and mobility. By expertly doing so, Tierra and her fellow Care Pros not only assist their clients, but help their families eliminate worry, reduce stress and re-establish personal freedom.

To build on their knowledge and experience, Tierra and other Care Pros are offered the opportunity to increase their dementia-care skills by taking part in the Home Instead network’s one-of-a-kind training protocol.

Home Instead’s Person-Centered Care Training for Alzheimer’s Disease and Other Dementias is recognized by the Alzheimer’s Association® for incorporating the evidence-based dementia-care practice recommendations in these topic areas: Alzheimer’s and dementia, person-centered care, assessment and care planning, activities of daily living, and behaviors and communication.

All Home Instead Care Professionals are screened, trained and insured. For inquiries about employment, please call (248) 886-7300 or apply online. For further information about Home Instead, visit our website.
