We can all learn so much from this wise age group.

Why Senior Care: I was drawn to Senior Care when my grandfather was diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease. He moved in with my family and I, and we took the role of caring for him throughout the disease process. With us being the best of friends, I was the only one who could keep him calm. Throughout this process, I quickly learned the benefits of keeping him home, and the importance of having a good support system. This experience led me to further my career in the helping profession, and gives me the ability to make a difference in the lives of older adults.

Background: B.S. in Human Development and Family Studies with a Minor in Gerontology. A.S. with an emphasis on Human Physiology. Past Home Instead Intern.

Why Senior Care: My passion for seniors began as a teen while working in a long term care facility. I enjoyed hearing and sharing life experiences with seniors so much that I went on to become an activity director in a few different facilities, one of which brought me to Colorado. Since that time and with the decline of my aging parents due to Parkinson's disease, my focus has turned toward senior advocacy and resource development. I feel, oftentimes, families and seniors alike are unaware of all the services available in the community to assist in keeping them as independent as possible.

I wanted to be the percentage that made the difference and help improve care for seniors. Just knowing that you are making a difference in someone’s life is very rewarding.

After hearing experiences the elderly go through, it motivated me to be their voice and do my best to make sure they are receiving the best care they deserve. Working with the elderly, you gain a new perspective and learn how to better improve their quality of life, which is very rewarding and is something I could see myself doing as my career path.
