2023 Caregiver of the Year, Sergiy

Congratulations, Sergiy O. for being our Caregiver of the Year 2023!!

Sergiy has proven himself to be one of the most dedicated and reliable carepros in our team. Over the past 4 years he has mantained a stellar work ethic, and continues to support his clients in a calm, kind and humble manner. Sergiy never shies away from taking on clients with complex care tasks, and is able to think on his feet for quick and practical resolutions to everyday issues that may arise while offering care services. He keeps the office team promptly informed as to the status of his clients and is meticulous in his reporting.

Sergiy is eveready to help other carepros teammates, assisting them with training and sharing hid deep insight about senior care that he has gained over the past many years. We are truly grateful for the amazing work you do for each of our clients and for your being a part of the Home Instead team. Sergiy we hope you continue with us in the years to come!

Where were you born? Where did you grow up?

I was born Belarus but grew up in Ukraine.

How long have you worked at Home Instead?

I have been working at Home Instead since 2019.

What is your favourite part about being a care pro?

I enjoy working with my clients and helping them with their routines and activities of daily living. However, when it comes to favourite moments, I really enjoy when a client asks me to assist with some random or unexpected household task like changing a lightbulb. It always makes me feel more like a part of their family!!

Tell us a little bit about yourself?

I was born 53 years ago in Belarus but grew up in Ukraine. I came to Canada 20 years ago. My father is Ukrainian and my mother is Russian, so my national identity is somewhere in between Russian and Ukrainian. I have a sister too. I inherited some personality traits from my parents which are very valuable in my work. My mother was always busy at home caring for our family, but she never felt burdened by it. And being humble as a person comes to me from my father.
I started working at Home Instead at the end of 2019m as a Care Pro. I truly value this career as it always brings me closer to people and I take my job seriously, leaving everything behind when coming into the client's world.

God bless you, Sergiy!
