Michelle 2024 circle small

Michelle Man, Lead Scheduling Coordinator, West Vancouver

Michelle felt the emotional and physical toll that Alzheimer’s Disease had on her father and on her family as the illness worsened throughout the years.  It was a blessing they had help from Home Care Support which made it possible for her family to keep their father at home with his loved ones.  It was so inspiring that Michelle began her senior care journey as a Home Care Worker during her University years to help other families in the same situation.

After graduation from University, Michelle enjoyed much success in the corporate world in progressive roles ranging from Project Management, Training, Operation Management, and Client Services.  Despite a busy work life in the past 20 years, her passion for serving seniors has not dimmed.  She has volunteered with the Heart and Stroke Foundation and various organizations for seniors.  When she saw the Home Instead Tagline: To Us it’s Personal, it really resonated with her.  She is excited to leverage her skills and experience to complete the full circle working with such an amazing and compassionate organization helping seniors continue to live their best life.

Michelle enjoys foodie adventures with family & friends, loves to play badminton & tennis, and work on DIY and upcycle projects on her free time.

Doug joined Home Instead as a Care Professional in March 2017.  Prior to that he was the owner of the Dog's Ear T-shirt & Embroidery store in West Vancouver for sixteen years. Due to health reasons, he sold his business in 2011 and by happy accident eventually wound up as a Care Professional for Home Instead.

"I wouldn't have thought to seek it out in all honesty, it just came my way - as things often do - when we are ready to receive them.  I see my role as one who strives to improve the quality of life for our clients and their families. Patience, empathy and compassion, if you have more than the average amount of these attributes then you will enjoy this line of work as much as I do, no question."

Doug has since been promoted to Lead Care Professional and is doing his best to guide and support our Care Professional Team by sharing his best practices.  In his free time, he loves to tinker with mechanical and electrical devices and would love to foster dogs and cats one day.

Latest review from our community

We were blessed to have Home Instead CAREGivers provide daily visits for our dad who lived alone and needed help with chores and shopping.  The staff was wonderfully responsive to our shifting needs and unpredictable shcedule, and everyone was consistently positive and helpful.  We appreciated the professionalism, problem-solving, and friendliness that characterized our every interaction with them.
