About Us

Anne2

Anne Monaghan, General Manager

Anne Monaghan has been with the company since March of 2006. She serves as the General Manager for the franchise. She has worked in several roles over the years to include Staffing Coordinator, CAREGiver Experience Manager, Operations Manager, and now oversees the day to day operations of the company. Her insight into implementing engagement strategies has helped the franchise reduce turnover to half that of the national average for private duty home care companies. She was instrumental in redesigning and implementing the new Home Health Aide Certification program offered in the State of Michigan by the Michigan Homecare and Hospice Association. Anne is responsible for all CAREGiver training and re-certification in the franchise to include mandatory open house hands-on training and ensuring all CAREGivers complete required annual continuing education.

Anne has also served as a caregiver having cared for her mother who suffered from Alzheimer's disease.

Kyla McBride, Human Resource Manager

Kyla started working for Home Instead Senior Care in February 2015 as a Staffing Coordinator and After-Hours Supervisor. In August 2015 she became the Human Resource Specialist and started conducting interviews and orientation of new CAREGivers. Kyla graduated with her Master’s degree concentrating on Human Resources and became the Human Resource Manager in January 2017.

Kyla’s experience with seniors ranges from growing-up living with her own grandparents, to working in Physical Therapy offices while in college, assisting seniors in their rehabilitation.

Kim Marsh 2

Kim Marsh, RN Quality Assurance Coordinator

Kim is one of the Quality Assurance Coordinators and a Registered Nurse that started in February 2020. She develops the plan of care for an assignment of clients, completes quality visits in person and virtually with use of our home care tablet. She collaborates with clients and families to ensure that all of their care needs are met. Kim also is the trainer for the caregivers, both in the classroom and in the hands-on skills lab.

Kim began her nursing career working in the hospital in orthopedics. She went on to work in hospice in the home care setting as case manager and later in-service operations management. While working in hospice, she had the opportunity to work side by side with Home Instead caregivers in patient homes and was very impressed with the quality of care they provided. She is passionate about senior care, quality of life and aging in place.

Kathy Kast, RN | Quality Assurance Coordinator

Kathy Kast, RN Quality Assurance Coordinator

Kathy joined the Birmingham team in December 2019, as a Quality Assurance Coordinator. In her role, Kathy creates and implements a plan of care specifically tailored to client's medical, personal and household needs. She works closely with caregivers to ensure client satisfaction. Kathy comes from a hospital setting specializing in neurology, with vast experience in all aspects of nursing care. She is passionate about helping seniors enjoy the comforts of home life with the help of dedicated caregivers.

Janice Winkley, RN | Quality Assurance Coordinator

Janice Winkley, RN Quality Assurance Coordinator

Janice joined the Birmingham team in January 2020, as a Quality Assurance Coordinator. In her role, Janice creates and implements a plan of care specifically tailored to client's medical, personal, and household needs. She works closely with caregivers to ensure client safety and satisfaction. Janice has a wide variety of nursing experience ranging from ICU to Public Health. Her love of seniors brought her to Home Instead, where she thoroughly enjoys working to keep seniors safe and healthy in their homes.

McKenna D

McKenna Dauenhauer, Technology & Quality Assurance Coordinator

McKenna joined the Home Instead team as a CAREGiver in October of 2017. In high school, she obtained her Certified Nursing Assistant certification with hopes of helping individuals in their time of need. While working as a CAREGiver, McKenna found her passion assisting clients with everyday activities and making it possible for them to stay at home. McKenna was given the opportunity to take on the role of Lead CAREGiver in January of 2020. The role was fulfilling to her because the first impression between CAREGiver and client is the most important. McKenna started doing CAREGiver to client introductions in 2019 as a Lead CAREGiver.

In September of 2020, McKenna became a CAREGiver Ambassador completing deliveries and CAREGiver to client introductions both in person and virtually. As of January 2021 McKenna became the Technology and Quality Assurance Coordinator. She manages the tablets that every client receives in their home and trains the CAREgivers on how to use the tablet in engaging their clients.  She also ensures quality of care in client’s homes that have 20 hours or less of services per week by conducting virtual visits with the client, their family members and CAREGivers.  She takes pride in establishing relationships with CAREGiver's and clients in order to make their Home Instead experience a memorable one.

Ellen Miller, Billing & Payroll Coordinator

Ellen came to work as a CAREGiver at Home Instead-Birmingham after taking care of her mother–in-law who had a terminal illness. She began here in September 2010 and worked closely with one client for 4 years. In June 2012, her background as an administrative assistant brought her into the office environment once again to fill the position assisting in our HR department and billing. She is now handling all billing and payroll for our clients and CAREGivers.

Samantha Carroll

Samantha Carroll, Staffing Coordinator

Samantha joined Home Instead in June 2020 as a Staffing Coordinator. She recently graduated from Western Michigan University with her bachelor's degree in Human Resource Management. She is currently working to obtain her Master's degree of Business Administration from Northwood University.

As a Staffing Coordinator, Samantha maintains client and CAREGiver schedules with an emphasis on creating high-quality matches and development of exceptional relationships, follows up and communicates CAREGiver and client issues to appropriate supporting colleagues to ensure problems are resolved, and maintains accurate client and CAREGiver records in the software system.

Samantha's love for seniors started at a young age as she was fortunate enough to spend time with her great grandparents. In addition, she was a server in an assisted living facility during her years of high school.

Erin Cravens

Erin Cravens, Staffing Coordinator

Erin joined the Home Instead-Birmingham team in August 2020 as a Staffing Coordinator. In this role, she works to pair clients with CAREGivers who are a great fit in order to ensure the most personalized care is provided. Erin's background includes working with adults with Traumatic Brain Injuries in a vocational rehabilitation setting, with experience providing individualized care and developing meaningful connections with clients. She also completed a Bachelor of Science in Psychology in August 2018, which fostered her understanding of the physical, social, cognitive, and psychological changes faced throughout the human lifespan.
Mary Panetta | Receptionist

Mary Panetta, Receptionist

Mary started with Home Instead in August of 2019. Mary's family has been granted with long lives. So, she has helped family members through the different stages of Alzheimer's. Mary has gained a great respect for these family members, while working for many years with young children.

Then, Mary's daughter began an internship with the Alzheimer's association. Mary, who was already a supporter for years, became a team leader for the Alzheimer's walk in Grand Rapids. After that she made the transition from working with young children to working with older adults.

Mary admires the work the caregivers do, as well as works to help the office staff provide whatever they may need to care for the wonderful clients. Mary is typically the person to answer the phone when callers call Home Instead, as well as greet visitors at the front desk.

Nadya Smith | CAREGiver Ambassador

Nadya Smith, CAREGiver Ambassador & Mentor

Nadya joined the Home Instead team as a CAREGiver in February of 2018. She gained a lot of experience by taking care of her mother while recovering from multiple surgeries. She also cared for her Grandmother who had dementia. Being an only child with older family members, Nadya was always drawn to seniors and wanted to make a difference in their lives. From the beginning, she always aspired for more involvement with Home Instead. Nadya became a Lead CAREGiver in April of 2019, and then a CAREGiver Ambassador in November of 2019. As a CAREGiver Ambassador, Nadya introduces CAREGivers to clients in person and on the Home Care tablet. She also makes deliveries to clients for DME and supplies. Nadya is also a CAREGiver Ambassador where she communicates and guides new CAREGivers into their role at Home Instead during their first 90 days.

Audrey Kendrick, CAREGiver Mentor

Audrey is a highly skilled and professional CAREGiver that helps pave the path for newly hired CAREGivers. The Mentor position began in February 2017 where Audrey is assigned new CAREGiver that starts at Home Instead. During a new hire's first 90-days, the Mentor makes weekly calls to the new CAREGivers ensuring their experience with Home Instead is great, as well as answer any questions in regards to policy or client concerns.

Audrey was referred to Home Instead by a friend in March 2015. When Audrey first started she had little professional experience but had personal experience in her younger years helping her mother. Now Audrey is one of our most skilled CAREGivers that is always asked to come back by clients and their family members.

Bert and Stephanie are the owners of Trusted Care at Home, Inc, the owner/operator of the Home Instead Senior Care franchise in Birmingham, MI. They also own Copple Direct Home Care Supply LLC, Copple Properties LLC, and Real Leadership Company LLC.
