"I cannot say enough good things about this company, and Butch and Kyle who manage it. It all started out this past Christmas when we had major issues with Attention Plus (AP) not providing the services we expected, contracted, or paid for in the care of my great aunt, who suffers from Lewy Bodies dementia and requires 24/7 caregivers. Butch was able to staff us with caregivers in the week prior to Christmas, within three days of initially contacting his company and requesting services.
My initial intake phone call with Kyle was amazing. She listened to all my concerns regarding AP, and was just as appalled and shocked with the care we had been getting as we were. She put the wheels in motion, and got us set up to meet with Butch and to do an assessment asap. Our family was personally covering care while this transition was taking place, so having Butch be able to staff on less than a weeks notice was amazing. We have now had them providing services to us since Dec 17/ Jan 18, and have secured an excellent team of regulars, who we are completely at ease leaving my aunt with. We know they do a great job because we continually keep the communication lines open, give and get feedback for any issues or questions that arise, and keep tabs via camera and notes to the caregivers. With my sister taking the M-F/9-6 shift, she is also able to provide training specific to my aunt for any new caregivers, as well as help them learn my aunt's routine, needs, transfer procedures, etc. Butch also indicated that they have a lot of expertise in dementia specific services, so if you need that type of care, I think you would be very happy with their services. On a caregiver specific note, they have an excellent procedural notebook that each caregiver fills out, reads, and takes notes in to keep abreast of what is going on with my aunt. There is an online checklist program that they fill out each shift, and we can monitor schedules, leave to-do lists, or communicate via that online forum. It works pretty well, with my only complaint being that it won't send photos or videos if I want to share them with Butch or Kyle. The other thing I like is that if someone calls in sick or is unavailable for a shift, that Butch and Kyle personally come in and take that shift. This also keeps them familiarized with their client's needs and level of care, which helps them be better at their jobs, as well as better able to staff the perfectly matched caregiver. All in all, I would give this company a 5 of 5 stars. They are a HUGE improvement from Attention Plus, who I wouldn't trust to keep a potato safe. Please keep them in mind if you are looking for caregiving services!!! It is worth every penny to have that peace of mind."
"My husband and I are deeply grateful to the caring Home Instead Companions who gave us respite and peace of mind during our recent stay in Kailua. It was not an easy situation for us to unexpectedly find ourselves giving 24/7 care to my cousin during a time when all three of us were to be vacationing together in Hawaii. I will never forget how the pressure started to lighten from my shoulders, when Kyle Lovett’s first words to me by phone were “Help is on the way!” Kyle appeared on our door step, like an angel, 30 minutes later with warm hugs and reassurances that Home Instead would soon give us the relief we needed. She greeted Betty with an equally warm hug and exuded heart-felt caring and empathy for her illness. Happily, Home Instead was able to cover every request, even when we found we would like to add additional time onto several of the shifts. As the owner of a staffing company, I realize this was not a small feat and required considerable effort on your part. Each of the companions was on time, confident, caring, and clearly had received excellent training. They knew how to relate to Betty to help ease any anxiety she might be feeling and to give her confidence. Each of them communicated well with me and displayed a desire to conscientiously carry out any instructions I gave regarding Betty’s care. Thanks to Home Instead, My husband and I received the respite time we needed to enjoy beautiful Oahu, free of guilt, and Betty was safe and well cared for to the satisfaction of the entire family. "Home Instead was nice to work with. Before we hired them, Butch came over to the house. He met my mom and looked at our house to check on it because they were actually checking mobility; I guess some houses are too messy or too cluttered. We went over their provided services, and he asked what we really needed. Mostly what I needed was somebody to help my mom in the shower while taking a bath. He made it easy for me to look at the schedule. He checked the bathroom to make sure that it was OK. They were really good. It only used them for about a month, but that whole month went pretty smoothly. The administrator or the director was very good about following up. He called and asked if we will continue the service.
