Congratulations to our 2018 CAREGiver of the Year CHRISSY BENBOW!!
Chrissy joined our team in May 2015 and has been a powerhouse since completing training. She is always willing to pick up extra shifts when asked and loves the challenge caring for multiple clients.
Not only do clients feel secure when Chrissy is providing care, but their families have peace of mind knowing that her attention to detail and years of experience provide an additional layer of expertise to the care they are receiving. This was most notable in 2017 when Chrissy contacted the office stating she felt there was something wrong with her client. Though her client was walking/talking, Chrissy's innate sense told her something in her client's behavior wasn't right. After multiple calls to the office and a wellness check by local police Chrissy finally went home for the night. The following day Chrissy had the same uneasy feeling and again began contacting the office with her concerns. She was finally able to convince her client to go to the hospital where they discovered her kidneys had shut down. If it had not been for Chrissy's tenacity and sixth sense, her client would have died. Below is an excerpt of the letter her client wrote on her behalf:
"For me the most significant thing she's done is save my life by getting me to the ER when unknown to both of us, my kidneys failed. I was too ill at the time to realize the enormity of my situation. Based on my symptoms and her caregiver experience she took the action needed to same my life! !"
Chrissy embodies the heart of Home Instead Senior Care. She is the same today as she was yesterday and her clients never receive less than 150% from her. She is quick to find humor in all situations and brings a strong commitment and caring to every client she touches.
When she isn't providing exceptional care, Chrissy is spending time with her son Scott who one day aspires to be a professional bowler as well as with her extended family.
Chrissy you are truly our heroine, thank you for living Home Instead and raising the bar of non-medical care in our community!!
