Millennial CAREGivers, We Want YOU!Millennial CAREGiver Elizabeth R.

Millennial CAREGivers are making a significant difference in the lives of older adults.  Meet Elizabeth R., one such CAREGiver in Nashville.  Her passion for seniors drew her to Home Instead Senior Care.  “My passion for seniors began when I was a little girl,” she says.  “I visited my  grandparents often.  I watched them get elderly and I saw them decline in health as I got older. I wanted to be there and do whatever I could for them to make them happy and comfortable. When I was around them I made a difference.  All I ever wanted to do was make them happy, and that's what I want to bring to Home Instead when I am with a client.    When describing her relationships with her clients, Elizabeth says, “ The relationship is like I have known them my entire life.  They are like family and treat me like a granddaughter.  CAREGiving really doesn't feel like a job, it feels like more being at home taking care of family.”  Elizabeth provides many services to her clients, including transportation to a Parkinson’s exercise class, grocery shopping, cleaning, bathing assistance and companionship.  Elizabeth says her role of CAREGiver is most fulfilling because she “learns the history and stories of my clients.  I could listen to them for hours.  It is something to appreciate.  You must learn to have patience, be helpful, and appreciate their willingness to keep trying.”  Elizabeth says she has learned a lot from her clients, but one lesson stands out:  “Most of all they teach you how to love,” she says.
