Barbara has been with Home Instead for 3 years.  “I look at CG as if I'm looking after a family member. I learned from my parents that family is everything! I first became a CG caring for my mother when she was on hospice and when my father was at the end of his journey. I look at CG as an extension of caring for a family member. I consider it an honor to be part of these still important people who have lived before me, they are full of life and wisdom! I have learned so much from my clients! I am humbled.”  Congratulations Barbara for your heart and dedication!

July 2020 CAREGiver of the Month - Lynn Cavalieri

A little about Lynn: "I decided to get into care giving when my elderly father started to decline a little, and I wanted to be able to care for him at home as he aged. It was a great decision. I have had many wonderful experiences over the years and I feel rewarded every day that I get to see my clients and help them stay in their homes safely with dignity and respect. I don't think there is another field of work that is challenging but just as rewarding at the same time, and it is nice to know I have helped someone feel better even if only for a short period during their day. I enjoy reading, hiking, doing puzzles, taking walks and being out in nature, but above all I love caring for, and helping people who can no longer do things for themselves."  Lynn also shared that she has been married for 27 years!  Congratulations Lynn on a job well done!

Michelle shared the following with us, “I am married with 1 daughter and 2 grandchildren 14 & 13. I have been to all 50 states and lived in 6. I love to travel and explore. I enjoy tending to my veggie garden. I became a caregiver because of the way my great aunt was treated by a family friend/caregiver. She treated my aunt awfully so I wanted to make sure I could help an elderly person and their family not go through want my aunt went through. I have found that Mandela coloring books or any kind of coloring is helpful for dementia clients. I also have found game shows helps clients get engaged. Watching too much of the news seems to upset, scare, depress my clients. Always remember there is beauty in the world!! Old saying, stop and smell the roses!!! Life is short and life is simple. It’s what you decide to do with what you were given.”

Thank you, Michelle, for your tireless work in supporting your clients and allowing them to live safely in their home.  Now, more than ever, is staying home so important.
