"I am continually struck by the professionalism, high level of caring and exemplary caregivers that I have met from Home Instead. My mom couldn't live without them, and neither could I.
Suzanne opened the Springfield, MA branch of Home Instead Senior Care after spending several years caring for her grandmother and great-aunt, and realizing that this was, indeed, a calling for her. She brings with her the clinical skills she gained as a mental health therapist with a concentration in geriatric psychology. While working on her masters’ degree, Suzanne interned at the UCLA Neuropsychiatric Institute in Los Angeles. There, she worked on the geriatric unit in individual therapy and group therapy settings, as well as conducted discharge planning meetings with patients and families. “There are so many aspects of running this business that appeal to me,” Suzanne says, “but hands down, my favorite is the initial assessment meeting with the clients and their families or friends.” It is during this time that she becomes excited about the potential she sees Home Instead can make in a client’s life, admitting that “to become a partner in care as someone ages also brings back the feelings I had when I cared for my grandmother, which were pretty special.” Suzanne’s family (along with a little help from a Home Instead caregiver) helped her grandmother remain at home until she died at the age of 101, surrounded by family in her home. “That is the spirit that inspires our work here,” she says.
As Director of Operations, Maureen oversees all activities which contribute to providing quality home care services to our clients. Maureen continually monitors the overall performance of operations and strives to achieve complete customer and caregiver satisfaction.
Maureen began her career with Home Instead in 2011. Her experiences with senior care both personally and professionally made her a perfect match. She is passionate about making sure all clients get the quality services they need and deserve and caregivers receive the training and information they need to be successful. She does this by working very close with the Client Care Coordinator, Recruitment and Retention Coordinator and Scheduling Coordinator. The message she delivers to the office staff, clients and caregivers is clear, "All clients are to receive the quality of care from a qualified caregiver that I would expect for my own family."
In her spare time Maureen enjoys being with her husband, their three dogs and one cat. She also enjoys time with her two daughters, son-in-law and six grandchildren. She loves gardening, home projects and organizing. She says she also loves random road trips and will begin a new adventure traveling this spring in a camper.
Julie is the friendly voice on the other end of the phone line. "My favorite part of the job is working with our caregivers & clients over the phone!" As the initial point of contact, Julie can answer questions about career openings, caregivers wanting to check on a schedule, or basic services information. She will make sure that you get the help you need, and assists all the team members - she is certainly the hub of our office! Julie says "I like working with seniors because I believe they deserve quality care. It is nice to work for a company that really cares about the health of our seniors." She certainly knows what she is talking about as she has had 10 years experience in the medical field as an Emergency Medical Technician Intermediate specializing in advanced life support. On her days off, Julie will most likely be spending time with her son and family, either at the beach, getting crafty around the house, or dreaming of the horse she will one day rescue. "I think my compassion for others and desire to do my best makes an impact on the client/caregiver experience." We totally agree, Julie!
Amy joined Home Instead Senior Care as a caregiver, and wanted to help out with our scheduling needs as we grew. She is now the full-time Staff Coordinator for all the caregivers – a job that requires infinite patience and a love of puzzles! Her biggest challenge is juggling the scheduling needs of the caregivers with making just the right match between caregiver and client. Knowing the caregiving job inside and out has helped her discover what works best to ensure stability and a good fit with the clients. "Besides playing with my puzzle all day, I like the interaction I am able to have with the all the caregivers." On her off days, Amy enjoys the peace and quiet of home with a blended family of 6 children ranging from teens on down to a baby. All joking aside, she is truly a devoted mom who takes great pride in her contributions to the Home Instead team!
