2017 CAREGiver of the Year: Elaine McKenney

2017 CAREGiver of the Year: Elaine McKenney

Elaine has this innate ability to form an immediate, long lasting relationship with her clients and their families. We have heard many times how blessed they feel to have her in their lives.

Please enjoy Elaine's personal story about how she started her CAREGiver journey, as well as testimonies from one of Elaine's current clients and our office staff.

"I became a caregiver when my own mother was diagnosed with lung cancer. I took care of her until she passed away. For some time prior, I had been trying to figure out what to do with my life. I found that after the experience with my mom, that I wanted to continue being a caregiver for others. One year later, I had my first clients with Home Instead; a couple named Mel and Torch. One of my fondest memories was when Mel had me help him with his 200 orchids. I knew nothing about flowers (I really didn't even like flowers), but he taught me how to care for them. I now plant flowers every summer and think of him."

-Elaine

Elaine's heart to serve others goes beyond seniors. She makes care packages that she keeps in her car to hand out to the homeless women in her area. She fills them with feminine products, tooth paste, hand sanitizer, ChapStick, socks, baby wipes, and bottled water.

October 2017 Rookie of the Month: Brandy Ganas

October 2017 Rookie of the Month: Brandy Ganas

CG Brandy is a calm and reassuring presence to her clients. She had a challenging situation recently when she arrived to find her client had fallen and was on the floor. Brandy assessed the client, saw that she was not injured but could not get her up on her own. Brandy called the non-emergency number on the back of her badge, they came out and helped the client up. After the client was taken care of Brandy went to fill out an incident report. Not finding one in the journal, she called providing an update and let the office know she would be by to fill out an incident report. Brandy followed safety first guidelines, communicated with the office, and did an overall fantastic job with helping her client and following her training protocol!
