One of the first things you will notice when meeting Vivian, is her 100 watt smile. It is a wide, bright event which the lucky recipient experiences immediately. It is as striking as walking into a cold, dark room and coming upon the warmth and brilliance of a fire burning. Immediately you are drawn in and connect to this woman, you want to hitch onto her star. As our General Manager has said, "I would think that in my darkest moment or saddest of days, if she would just laugh or give me that smile, I would know that all would be o.k." But her smile, as dazzling as it is – is only the first layer of this extraordinary human. It covers her many, wonderful layers of her Caregiver being. It covers a human soul of substance, a soul who deeply feels the call of CAREGiving- one not easily deterred by normal outside forces.
Vivian is the quintessential CAREGiver. She has already retired once from being a direct care worker and supervisor at a State School locally. This is a live-in facility and well known for some of the most difficult and intensive patients. Vivian will tell you she has seen it all, and has provided a variety of care services. She has used this experience to weave into her career as a CAREGiver with us. Vivian is patient and kind. But one of her most distinctive qualities, one of the most unusual components of her CAREGiving, is the way she just digs in with the most intensive care clients, dealing with some of the most difficult behaviors while maintaining her kindness and high quality of care.
Since being promoted to Caregiver Mentor, we all have seen Vivian grow and soar professionally as a CAREGiver of Excellence. One of the challenges of this position is balancing both direct care, along with the tenacity and patience required for training and mentoring her peers. It is not a position for everyone. Our General Manager wondered if Vivian was "up to the task."
Vivian left us all in the dust. She not only took on more intense clients, mentored patiently and consistently, served in the exemplary manner of not just a CAREGiver but was the ultimate team player, taking on "on-call" as well as her core duties. As our recruiter Patrick has described, "Vivian is prompt, reliable, and dependable. Even before she was promoted, if she was on a shift, I never worried while I was on call. I always knew our clients would be getting reliable, focused care and that their needs would be met and exceeded."

Miss Sharron Spann, "Miss Kitty ", as she is known in our office, was born into a difficult set of circumstances, as many are. Her background was devoid of financial, social or emotional normalcy, let alone privilege. A beginning that almost never fosters healthy choices.
While with Home Instead Miss Kitty has shared about her past saying, "Growing up in one of the roughest neighborhoods, I have seen things never meant for children." Yet despite her challenging beginning, Miss Kitty consciously chose to blaze her own higher path. A path for herself, her 3 daughters, her son, and every other life she touches. When asked about her life journey she will tell you, "It's still a work in progress". This work is forged by her past, shaping her future and those she encounters.
Sharron is first and foremost a woman of God. She will be the first to tell you that being a Caregiver is a calling from God, a calling to serve others. When she walks into a room, her smilewill greet you long before her presence. She will envelop you with her joy and warmth while entertaining you with her sense of humor. She is one of those rare people who always leaves you feeling better for being with her.
Miss Kitty is a CAREGivers CAREGiver. One who is always interested in her co-worker's wellbeing, consistently ready and eager to lend a hand to help others. Our Recruiter describes her as one of "the warmest CAREGivers on our Team". Miss Kitty never hesitates a fill-in shift when needed, and always gives 110% to her Clients." When asked why she became a CAREGiver, she became emotional and said, "People need me". And it's true, people do need her."
Rosa is our CAREGiver of the month for July! She recently received the Rising Star Award at our annual awards night. She has made such an impression on us with her work ethic. Ms. Rosa looks forward to seeing her clients and meeting new ones. At the end of each shift she says, "I feel so accomplished knowing I was able to be a part of their lives for a few hours".
"She is very deserving of CAREGiver of the month," says Keisha Kennedy, General Manager for Home Instead Senior Care, "She was brand new with no prior experience as a CAREGiver. She took her training very seriously, dug in deep, and learned. She never rejected a shift despite the level of care, she accepted the challenge and now I feel comfortable enough to place her with any client".
"I truly enjoy my job", she said, " It does not even feel like an actual job, which is the best part. It is more like spending time at a friends house, but getting paid for it". Ms. Rosa joined our organization a little over four months ago, and ever since she has become an invaluable asset to our team in every way.

Sharron was recently presented with the Charlotte Lawhon Award of Excellence at our CAREGiver Awards Night in May. Sharron has been with Home Instead Senior Care for 5 years. During that time, she has worked with various clients needing a variety of services. Sharron has seen and done it all!
Sharron's ability to adapt to any situation and client's preferences is one of the many reasons she is our CAREGiver of the month. She asks great questions to discover her client's preferences and then commits those to memory. She works with those preferences and makes each client feel special by customizing her time with them.
When we asked Sharron how she would define being a Home Instead Senior Care CAREGiver she said, "Being a CAREGiver to me is caring for those in need, whether its cooking, cleaning, running errands, or showing love, they are all needs and NOT just wants. My calling as a CAREGiver is seeing someone HEAL and to be someone that is there through their sufferings and their ailments and that they are not alone."

Shareesa has been with Home Instead Senior Care since August 2017. Shareesa has been a blessing to all her clients and Home Instead Senior Care. She is a very dependable CAREGiver. When she is on the schedule, you can always count on her to be there. Although she can seem quiet and shy, she comes alive when with her clients and does her best to make them feel comfortable and works to get them to open up and share how they are feeling.

This month’s CAREGiver of the Month is Melissa! Melissa has been with Home Instead Senior Care since May 2017."Melissa is an absolute light to all those who have the privilege of knowing her. She is always bursting with energy, smiling and bubbly no matter the time of day or any difficulties that may lie ahead for her. I can't think of one time, even when she has received bad news or lost a client, that Melissa has seemed down or sad. She always sees the cup as half full, as the expression goes, and makes it seem effortless to be positive and encouraging. I think this is what her clients appreciate most and it is certainly one of many qualities I admire about Melissa. She's a great person and caregiving is her calling for sure," said Keisha Kennedy, General Manager, when asked about Melissa.

Teri has been with Home Instead Senior Care since January of 2017 and has worked with various clients. She excels at assisting clients with Alzheimer's or another type of dementia.
When asked for her thoughts and feelings about what it means to her to be a CAREGiver, she had wonderful words to share:
"In my medical career of over thirty years, working as a CAREGiver for Home Instead Senior Care has been the most rewarding. Just to
know that the long list of non-medical services we provide that make such a huge impact in a person's daily life, puts a smile on my face when I lay down at night. The bond that a CAREGiver establishes with their clients is like none other. I tell people all the time that this is not a job but a joy. No matter how small or large a task may be, knowing that Home Instead Senior Care makes such a difference in the City of Hattiesburg and outlying counties is an awesome accomplishment. The icing on the cake is the friendships that will last a lifetime, that I have been blessed with, just by being employed here. Our CAREGiver of the Month for December is Amanda. We are very thankful for CAREGivers like Amanda. She is so helpful to Home Instead and is very loyal, loving and reliable.
Amanda said this of being a CAREGiver, "I love being a caregiver! It’s my opportunity to make a difference in someone’s life. Taking care of someone can be a big responsibility and challenging at times, but it’s very rewarding! I love being able to help my client anyway I can. Our CAREGiver of the Month for November is Erykah. We are thankful for Erykah because, according to our Staff Coordinator, “she is loyal to her clients, dependable, willing to work with any level of client and any personality. Joyce is such a kind hearted, compassionate person who excels at making clients feel comfortable and loved. With her warm smile and beautiful spirit, it is hard to feel down, so her clients and their families enjoy her positivity! Marilyn has been with Home
Instead Senior Care in Hattiesburg since December of 2016, and in
that time has shown herself to be an amazing CAREGiver. Marilyn is a very conscientious worker,
always looking out for how she can better support her client. She is consistently going out of her way to

Elvie has mostly worked with one client during her tenure at Home Instead Senior Care. We asked that client and her husband to share how they feel Elvie has impacted their lives with her CAREGiving. This is what Mr. F had to say… "She is very observant all the time of my wife's needs and responds appropriately. She follows through on all things we ask her to do. My wife considers her a great driver yet always corrects me when I take her places… but never Elvie! Elvie knows how to respond to my wife's feelings and does not become frustrated in changes in our schedule. She has become like part of our family! When I told my wife Elvie was up for CAREGiver of the Month at Home Instead senior Care, her response was 'I would vote for her!'"
What a wonderful testament to Elvie and what she has accomplished being a CAREGiver! The services she has provided for this family has obviously impacted their lives so much that they were willing to share such sentiments! When we see Elvie with her clients or hear how much they care about her when they call into the office, it reminds us of why Home Instead Senior Care is here and enjoys being a part of so many people's lives. We are so very blessed to have you on our team Elvie!
When we asked Nikki to tell us about her most successful day as a CAREGiver she shared the following story…"I was with a patient in the hospital and she was very sad and felt as if things couldn't get better. She wouldn't say much at first to me or anyone else. However, I talked with her and told her I can only imagine what she may be going through, but God is a great God and He wouldn't put more on us than we can bare. She told me I was right, with a smile on her face. The next day, she seemed to be doing better. She smiled and she opened up to me and we talked about all the happy moments in her life ... I even told her some of my happy moments. I felt that was a successful day at work being a caregiver because she opened up to me and told me things she hadn't told anyone before."

Our CAREGiver of the Month for June 2017 is Mrs. Bobbie B. Bobbie has been with Home Instead Senior Care since September 2015. Since beginning work with Home Instead Senior Care, Bobbie has mainly worked weekends, as she also works another full time job, and has been with her current client since February 2016. Any shift that she can take on and any tasks, great or small a client may throw her way, she handles with grace.
Bobbie fearlessly takes on any challenge that comes her way. She is fiercly loyal to Home Instead Senior Care and any client who is blessed to have her as their CAREGiver. She is very reliable and works every weekend she is scheduled. She always calls with any new reports concerning her clients or their home enviroments to ensure that the office has the most up to date information. She is always willing to be coached on a particular task and will request or take any additional training that she feels will help her provide the best care for her clients.

Our CAREGiver for the month of May 2017 is Ms. Jane M. Jane has been with Home Instead Senior Care since September 2016 and has already worked with numerous clients whose needs vary greatly. Jane takes it all in stride and does her best to make sure that all tasks are customizable to her clients and they each feel special.
Jane takes any opportunity to educate herself about her clients, their special diets or needs, their health conditions, and any special training that the office may offer or suggest.
Jane is always updating the office when there are concerns and issues but she also loves to share funny stories her clients tell her and fun daily activities in which she creates to help keep her clients engaged. She also updates the office about changes she feels are occurring in their care or health, which is really important to her co-workers as well as the office staff and family members. She reminds us all to be on our toes and keep our eyes and ears open because even a little change can make a big difference in a senior.

Kesheena recently went well above and beyond the call of duty with a female client she has served for a while. The client's home was somehow recently infested with bed bugs. Kesheena reported her concerns to the office and was the first to let us and the family know that there was even a problem at the client's home. Instead of being scared or weary of the situation (as anyone might be), she got right to work and didn't even bat an eye! After her report, she jumped into action and was ready to do anything necessary to help her client get through this situation. She sprayed,cleaned and stayed in constant communication with the office to give us updates on the client and client's home. What she did for Home Instead Senior Care and her client has made all the difference. Her client can now return to her home and feel safe and well taken care of!
"The day I discovered that one of my clients had an infestation of bed bugs, I felt every emotion that day… I was angry and very saddened. I was upset because a resident was spreading them and saddened because I had to throw out all my client's household furniture. I felt horrible after knowing my client had bed bugs and I was not aware and neither was she in the state of mind to tell me. It was a very lengthy and frustrating process for both of us, but we finally got rid of them. After we discovered my client was bed bug free, we both felt relieved and excited!" said Kesheena about caring for this specific client.
Oftentimes, caregiving can be
perceived as just another job or position in which anyone can excel in. It can
also be misconceived that a CAREGiver who does excel can switch the caring on
while on the job and merely switch it off when the job is done. Being a
CAREGiver, however, is not a title. It is a calling, a journey. It is that
special something that you carry with you everywhere.
Ms. Bethany W, our CAREGiver of the Month for March, carried this gift oustide of her work. We wiould like to share a post from our Facebook page, written by a person in the community:
"I had never heard of Home Instead until last night and I have never had any direct dealings with Home Instead but I met one of their employees last night and had to leave a review!! I was in the hospital in severe pain that ended up being a kidney infection. I was at my breaking point with the pain. The wait in the waiting room was 3 hours. An employee of yours, Bethany, came over and asked if she could put her hands on me. She rubbed my back for 45 minutes and I wouldn't have made it through it without her. A stranger rubbed my back in the E.R. out of the kindness of her heart because she noticed my pain. She went and found a blanket for a man in a wheelchair that was all alone and shaking after he had been told he couldn't have one. She brought him coffee too. A business is only as good as their employees. Way to go Home Instead!"
Our CAREGiver of the Month for the month of February is Ms. Rhonda L, who has nurtured this desire for years and has given its benefits forward to the many lives she has touched. Ms. Rhonda cares for her clients at Home Instead Senior Care, as well as the great veterans of our nation’s military.
Our CAREGiver of the Month for the month of January is a person that contains this inner strength and her client always has a bright day when she is there. Ms. Samantha B had very little professional experience when coming to Home Instead Senior Care. But with determination and a heart for caring, she put forth her best effort every day to ensure her client had the best care she could give.
"Being a CAREGiver is about having a family, not a job." Samantha says. "Someone that you take care of and do whatever you can for them. Someone who knows you will be there when needed and a friend when called upon. Someone you can smile and watch the Today Show with! (A long time favorite activity of her client Ms. Marguerite G.
Our CAREGiver of the Month for the month of December holds this responsibility close at heart. Seairra H is always there for her clients and builds the kind of trust that any great relationship will certainly need to flourish.
"Seairra just really cares about the well-being of her clients," says Patrick Jarman, Recruitment and Retention Coordinator, "She's always on time and ready to go and always reports anything that needs to be brought to our attention. She really bonds with her clients and that definitely shows when, even long after a client has ceased to need our services, they still talk about how much of a treat her company really was."
Seairra really makes an impact on the lives she touches and has that special personality that makes people just feel at home when they are around her. Our greatest goal at Home Instead Senior Care is to make our clients feel cherished and important. Seairra always has a way of doing just that.
No matter how long the day may be, or challenging a client may become, Janet is always on board with a smile. She genuinely takes great joy and even more plasure in making her clients' days just a little brighter. This brightness starts with her smile and shines with her dedication.
"Janet never wavers for anything." says Denina Rogers, Client Care Coordinator for Home Instead Senior Care, "When I arrive to visit her clients, she is always there with a big smile and eager to serve."

Maxine has been a CAREGiver with us for many years, and it seems with each passing year, she only gets more devoted to those that are in her care. She is always punctual and knowledgable about the clients' routines for the day. She will go in early, or stay as late as she is needed.
Maxine has a big heart for what she does, and time only sees it grow as she makes true differences in the lives of her clients. With every new challenge, she looks forward with forittude and compassion and learns how to overcome yet again. She always contacts the office with any concerns and helps us stay on top of any issues that may affect her clients so that we can always provide the best service possible.

Mrs. Patricia P, our CAREGiver of the Month for the month of September, is a fantastic example of how important it is to do so. Mrs. Patricia is always early and will often stay long after her shift is scheduled to end. "It is not about work," she has said, "It is about taking care of my client." She takes extra care when documenting anything of note for the day and also makes sure that she communicates any issues with the office staff as soon as there is a concern. This allows the office to relay any changes and get the best help possible.
Being consistent is about being able to do these things regularly and never wavering, for a dire emergency can come up at any time. Being reliable, professional, and responsible is very important when it comes to building a relationship, and Mrs. Patricia is very aware of the importance it has to her duties and responsibilities.
"I never have to worry when Patricia is on shift with her client," says Patrick Jarman, Recruitment and Retention Coordinator for Home Instead Senior Care, "I know that everything will be documented, accurate, and reported and that her client will be in good hands. She always fills in when she can and is truly there for her client. She really seems to get what we do and why it is important."
Ms. Janie shows her dedication in everything that she does. Whether she is on the job and caring for her clients, or even just having a conversation with you, her passion for what she does always shows through.
“Home Instead Senior Care is the place for me,” she has said, “It provides me the foundation I need to really be there for my clients.” Ms. Janie joined our organization over a year ago with a very limited part-time schedule. She has since become an invaluable asset to our team in every way and we could not imagine our company without her. As she became more available, she always found more time in her schedule for her clients and would be there with them in a moment’s notice. She has shown time and time again how much her clients truly mean to her.

Ms. Jennifer is always in contact with the office to let us know everything her client needs and to communicate any updates that pertain to her client. When we need to know anything about her client, Ms. Jennifer is always there with the latest and most accurate information. Ms. Jennifer’s hard work and caring heart makes every day a bright day for her client, and she always knows she can depend on her CAREGiver. “I love my client,” Jennifer says, “every day is truly a blessing with her. I could not ask for anything more.”
Our CAREGiver of the Month for the month of June is Ms. Kesheena W, and everythhing she does illustrates true comittment. Kesheena is always in constant contact with our team and our clients, hoping to find a way to enhance the lives of current clients, or showing new clients how much we care. She likes to keep herself reachable and available in case anything happens with her clients so that she can be there for them no matter what may happen.
She is always ready for a new challenge and is always looking forward to her next big success. “Our clients need someone they can depend on,” she says. “they need someone that cares about them. Not just as a job, but as a human being.” When asked if things ever got difficult with her clients, she smiled and responded simply, “You can’t sweat the small stuff.”
Having no professional experience, Meagen came into Home Instead Senior Care simply looking to brighten peoples' days. She had taken care of her grandmother, but had no clue how she was going to do all of it for a stranger. She continued to grow her talents and never looked at any situation and unsolvable. It is this ever-reaching spirit that has kept her going as a CAREGiver.
Almost a year later, it has become second nature, and she comes to see her client every day with a tinge of excitement. "A caregiver is someone who shows profound sentiments for their client and people in general." she states, "A person who is dependable, caring, and loving. A person who cultivates love. My passion is helping others and seeing them happy. I am grateful to have that opportunity."
Meagen says she has learned much while with Home Instead, and wants to give everything she has to making the world better for seniors to live in. She wants to always be where she is needed and wants her clients to know she will always be there for them. As Meagen's time with us continues, we know those sentiments will be able to continue to ring true for her. Congratulations, Ms. Meagen, and thank you for all of your efforts for our seniors.
Mrs. Bobbie places great importance on making everyone's day just a little brighter. As the First Lady of her church here in Mississippi, she knows that life is about God's plan, and His plan for her is to be a light for our clients. She seeks to be the changing force, to not only have that positive outlook herself, but to give her client the chance to have the same.
"Taking care of people is more than just seeing to their physical needs," she says, "but it is also about being able to brighten their day while always being professional and friendly. It is important to know that if you treat your clients with respect and kindness, you get a smile that will open up their day and yours."

Ms. Rebecca is always there for those she cares for, and never lets anything else get in her way. Her care is unwavering and her heart fixed on her dedication. She quite literally makes it her mission to have everyone she cares for smiling at the end of the day.
"My seniors are my mission," she says, "they are why I am here." Ms. Rebecca says that being a caregiver means having the opportunity to love others at a time when they need it most. She states that God created each of us with an infinite value and she loves being able to show clients that she loves and values them regardless of what age or stage they have reached.
Knowing that one day she would want someone with compassion and understanding of what it takes to be a great caregiver, that is what she always strive to give to her clients. Ms. Ashante says that what she enjoys most about being a caregiver is not only the conversations with her clients, but the knowledge and wisdom gained from someone who has lived long and fruitful lives. "This is what makes me so honored and so proud to be that special caregiver that makes each and every day a little bit brighter," she says, "Our clients deserve all the love, respect, and care that we have and with these three characteristics you will be the best caregiver you could be."

Ms. Rhonda T dedicates herself every day to enhancing her clients' lives in the smallest ways to the biggest. Ms. Rhonda never takes her clients for granted and always shows them what they mean to her. She dedicates her entire self to the work that she does and the people that she cares for. Always on time and never late, Ms. Rhonda always gives her all and never waivers in what she does.
"She is always there for her clients," says Keisha Kennedy, General Manager of Home Instead Senior Care. "She makes every effort to be reliable for her clients and always takes any steps needed to not disappoint them. Watching her work shows that this mission beats in her heart. Ms. Trinetta B has been with her client for almost a year and has always been by her side. Throughout the past year, the client has gone through many changes, both in health and in life. In both, Ms. Trinetta has been there to help her transition comfortably and confidently.

Ms. Shiela P, October's CAREGiver of the month, exudes all of these qualities every time she is with her clients. She has been with her clients for well over a year now and treats every day like the first. She is always first in line when they need someone, and always makes time to ensure they are adequately cared for. What makes her truly shine in her role, however, is the dedication with which she does her work. "She is just so reliable," Tracy Trondson, our Staffing Coordinator, says, "I know that whenever she is with them that everything will always be okay."
"It's the relationship," Sheila said, when asked what her favorite part of being a CAREGiver was. "That relationship with my clients is by far the best thing about my job. I love going to see my clients every day. It is what keeps me going through the day. They are like family to me and I just want to do what I can to give them the best day possible." Thank you Sheila for all you do!
Being a part of a team is much more than just being one of many. It is the comfort of knowing you have many looking out for each one. It is about working together to best meet our clients' needs, both expressed and unexpressed and giving them the best experience possible. Having a team helps us ensure this happens every single day, and Ms. Bonnie does everything she can to make sure that happens to every client she has the pleasure of meeting.
When informed that she had made CAREGiver of the Month, Miss Bonnie would only accept if she could nominate someone in the office to share the honor with her. Therefore, with great pleasure, we also recognize Miss Tracy T, who Ms. Bonnie says has made her time with Home Instead worthwile. "Tracy has always worked with me," she says as she remembers fondly. "Anything I have ever needed, she has been there with a solution and is just as responsible for the care of our clients as I have been. Being a CAREGiver of the month, or even a CAREGiver, would just not be the same without her." Thank you for all that you do Ms. Bonnie. It shows everyone the type of woman you are that you would share your honor with a staffmember! You are one of a kind!
Always being motivated by her desire to help others, Ms. Kimberly is always looking for new ways to give her clients a great experience. "Kimberly is amazing," says Tracy Trondsen, Staff Coordinator of Home Instead Senior Care, "She goes above and beyond to determine her clients' unexpressed needs and meets them in a caring, professional fashion. I know that whoever I put Kimberly with, she will meet and exceed their expectations and make them feel blessed to be a part of the Home Instead family." For her, it is not about getting up and going to work for the day. She sees each day as a new opportunity to spend time with family. Congratulations to Ms. Kimberly as the CAREGiver of the Month.
Being a CAREGiver gives Mrs. Naomi a great sense of pride, "I really enjoy helping others. Just being able to be there for my client makes me smile. Hearing events and things they have done and so much they have gone through is simply amazing. I know how it feels to have others come in and take care of family members. My own mom has caregivers come to help her. So I know what my family and I expect. In turn, I try to do that for my clients and always go above and beyond." Mrs. Naomi truly embodies the spirit of being a CAREGiver and has a gift for what she does. We congratulate her as our CAREGiver of the Month for July.
Being a CAREGiver and being able to define it as such a calling means a lot to Ms. Bobbie. "I truly enjoy the opportunity to impact clients' lives and make a difference to them. I appreciate the chance to get to know clients and their families and become an integral part of their lives. Seeing the appreciation in their eyes for the smallest of deeds I do is by far the biggest motivator for me to keep doing what I do! I feel truly blessed." We thank Ms. Bobbie for all of her contributions and congratulate her in being the CAREGiver of the Month!
The CAREGiver of the Month for the month of May is Ms. Shawn-Ashlee Davis. Shawn-Ashlee has been a CAREGiver with Home Instead since June 24th, 2014. To her, it's all about being the person her client can always rely on. "To me CAREGiving means giving all of your time, energy, attention and anything else possible to create the best atmosphere possible for clients to feel important, loved and for them to know that they have worth," she says.
Ms. Davis says she works by her motto, "A life worth living is a life of giving." She does not take all of the credit, however. "The way I make a difference in the lives of my clients is by allowing God to love and work through me," she says, "I could never do what I do on my own. I find my strength in the Creator. With God, I have been able to assist clients with ADLs, but more importantly, I have been able to build relationships with clients and show them the respect that they deserve."
Ms. Shawn-Ashlee's humbleness and dedication truly shows what Home Instead Senior Care is all about. We thank her and congratulate her as CAREGiver of the Month!
Mrs. Rita Mills is our CAREGiver of the Month. Rita has been a CAREGiver with Home Instead since August 7th, 2014. To her caregiving is a blessing. "I have always wanted to take care of seniors," she says with a wide smile. "It is a learning experience every day. Each and every one of my seniors has become a part of my family. This is not a job to me, it is an adventure."
When asked what kind of experience she likes to provide for clients, she says "I cater to each of my clients' individual needs. I treat them with respect and dignity. They are a very important part of my life and I let them know that every time I work with them." She says that you need to get to know their likes and dislikes and about their lives to show them that they are very important.
We are proud this month to be able to recognize Mrs. Rita Mills. Her connection with her clients is admirable and her relationships with them are genuine. We wish her the best as she continues to share her experiences with them and create new ones along the way!
Our CAREGiver of the month is Ms. Marsha Green. Marsha has been a CAREGiver with Home Instead since August 12th, 2014 and feels blessed every day. "Caregiving, for me, is an opportunity to serve others." She says, "It is a chance to be there for them and demonstrate indiscriminate love. It's about letting my client know that they are not alone and that they can have someone to depend on."
When asked what motivates her to be a CAREGiver, she answered, "What motivates me is knowing that all of my efforts will make life easier for my clients. I think that is the most rewarding aspect of what we do."
Ms. Marsha Green has made a great impact on the lives of her clients. With compassion, dedication, and a true love for what she does, she is making the difficult times in their lives not so difficult.
Taylor has been a CAREGiver with Home Instead since August 9th, 2014 and has always gone out of her way to give clients a top notch experience. “I get to give my all to someone who truly needs me...” she says, “Whether it may be someone who needs companionship or who needs me for a little more.”
When we surprised Willie Bell with the news that she was our October
CAREGiver of the month, she was shocked. She said, “I always just go and
do my work. I don’t do it for the recognition. I never expected to get
an award for just taking care of my clients.” But she was excited
nonetheless! This, among so many other reasons, is why we chose Willie
Bell as our CAREGiver of the month; her selfless attitude, her
dependable nature, and seamless care given to each of her clients. She
also is a fantastic “in a pinch” CAREGiver. Willie Bell always puts her
client’s needs before her own. Thank you Willie Bell for all you do for
HISC and your clients!!!!!!!!!!!!
September’s CAREGiver of the month is Lakeshia Chambers. Lakeshia has
been with Home Instead Senior Care since October 2013. We asked her,
“Why did you decide to work with Home Instead Senior Care?” Her response
was “God gave me this job. I was stressed and prayed for God’s help in
getting a job.” It was a Sunday and she was searching for jobs on the
internet and the Home Instead website just popped up. When Lakeshia
tried to close the website, it wouldn’t! So she decided to at least try
and applied for the CAREGiver position. The next day she was shocked to
get a call from office. We know we are certainly excited that she
completed that application. And the rest, as they say... is history!

Julie has been with Home Instead Senior Care since October of 2013. Julie works with various clients needing all levels of care. She has a way of adapting to any situation. The best story we could share that would convey the type of CAREGiver Julie is, would be the time she called our office for her client and had us pretend that we were a local university. See, her client was a professor at this university and now has dementia. The client thinks she still needs to go to work every day and Julie must try to redirect her for safety. Julie called our office one day asking us to pretend to be the school and in the background we heard her tell her client, "The school says that due to bad weather, they are canceling classes so you don't have to go to work today." This calmed the client down and Julie was able to help her complete other tasks for the day. We were confused at first but once we realized the lengths Julie was willing to go to ensure her client's safety and keep her mind at ease, we knew we had a jewel of a CAREGiver that deserved recognition. Thank you Julie for all you do!
Lorraine Green is our CAREGiver of the month for July. She has been with
Home Instead Senior Care for two years. She has worked with various
clients, multiple shifts and has completed over 2800 CAREGiver hours!
Lorraine excels at working with intensive care clients or those who need
major assistance with personal care needs/ activities of daily living.
She is always focused on the needs of the client, their safety and is
the first to report anything to the family or office that needs to be
addressed, resulting in better quality of care for her clients. Thank
you Lorraine for all you do. We are so blessed to have you be a part of
Vanessa works with Home Instead Senior Care on a part-time basis but has made a lasting impression on her client and client's son. Vanessa will go above and beyond the call of duty. She isn't afraid to do what is necessary for her client. She recently called the office explaining that her car had broken down and someone would be coming to get her to make sure she could provide services for her client on time. A short time later, Vanessa called back to say that her back up ride had also broken down! Eventually Vanessa took it upon herself to just start walking to the client's home. She completed the shift that afternoon and never complained! What drive and determination Vanessa has for getting the job done, no matter what!
Rossie has been a CAREGiver with Home Instead Senior Care since May 2013. Besides being a wonderful CAREGiver, Mrs. Rossie is also a published author (poetry) and is currently working on 8 children's books to date. As for her CAREGiving, she has willingness to learn. She completed all her training within a few weeks of being hired. She completed training beyond what was required. She is out going, friendly, never meets a stranger, and goes above and beyond the call of duty when in a client's home. She meets their expectations and usually well exceeds their further needs. She has said that she feels her work is "a calling." We are so blessed to have Mrs. Rossie on our Home Instead Senior Care Team!
Christy has been with Home Instead Senior Care since July of 2013. She wanted to start as a part-time CAREGiver but every client the office scheduled her with, loved her and requested that she return. Christy has always stated that she is driven by opportunity. She has a desire to grown and learn new things. She truly has a caring and concerned nature, whether it's accepting last minute shifts, coming in early or staying late to help out her clients. She also has a way of communicating with families and the office so that the client's care is improved daily by reporting concerns and changes in care. We feel so blessed to have such a wonderful person as a part of our care team.
Peggy has been with Home Instead Senior care for over a year. She came to our organization with 20 plus years experience in providing care in various settings but felt that she thrived in the home care setting because it provides CAREGivers with the opportunity to work with a client one on one. Peggy feels this is beneficial for CAREGivers because it allows them an opportunity to build a meaningful relationship with clients and their families. Peggy excels at keeping client's engaged in activities and making sure they don't lost mobility... she likes to see them active! We love Peggy's go-get-it attitude and the energy she brings to each and every shift.
Judy has been with Home Instead Senior Care over a year and has worked
with various clients of different needs. Currently she is working with a
female Alzheimer's client who has recently been diagnosed with the
disease since Judy began working with her. Judy has worked to adjust her
CAREGiving skills to meet this client's needs as often as she needs to,
so as to adjust to cognitive changes.
Judy puts her whole heart into being a CAREGiver. She is also a pastor's
wife and believes that CAREGiving is a calling that only a select
number of people can commit to because the work is so difficult at
times. She also feels it is rewarding just to help others and
appreciates the flexibility that Home Instead Senior Care has provided
to her so that she can still fulfill her commitments in her church and
be able to work doing something she is so passionate about.... taking
care of seniors!
JoJo has been a CAREGiver with Home Instead Senior Care since 2010. She
is a full time teacher, is very active in her church, and also takes
night classes while working some evenings and weekends with Home Instead
Senior Care. She is very dedicated to her clients, very loyal to Home
Instead, and is compassionate about seniors in the Hattiesburg
community. When asked to share her favorite aspect of CAREGiving, she
said, "ensuring that my client receives the utmost care, meaning that
he/she is happy, comfortable, and feels very loved."
