For those of you who haven't participated in the past, Home Instead Senior Care's Be a Santa to a Senior program is an annual program in which we ask that community groups and organizations provide names of indigent seniors in our area who may not receive a gift or who have very little to no family contact for the holidays. We gather a list of these names and gift ideas that we then place on ornaments on a tree and people within the community will "adopt" those seniors and purchase gifts for them. We all get together early in December for a wrapping party and then each community group is responsible for delivering the wrapped gifts to the appropriate senior.
Our Be a Santa to a Senior trees will be going up in various locations on November 15th-18th 2016!
The trees will come down on December 7th, 2016
We will be hosting 2 wrapping parties this year! They will be held at our office on December 15th & 16th. The times are TBD. Anna will be contacting all who asked to volunteer about the specific times for your organization.
We would like to invite each of all our community partners to be a part of our annual Be a Santa to Senior program in some fashion. You can call our office about submitting a list of names of senior in need (must be a healthcare organization in Hattiesburg or a surrounding area), help with tree decoration and placement, or volunteer by helping us to wrap gifts on one or both dates. To make this program successful, it takes each and every one of us working together to make this holiday season special for the seniors in our community.
