The Home Instead offices located in White Plains and Yorktown Heights serve Westchester,​Putnam and Dutchess counties. Owner Brian Trainor and his team possess a heartfelt desire to work with families in our communities to help seniors safely lead more fulfilling lives in their homes.

We're available to help you understand the options, provide support during your decision-making process, and ensure your senior receives the right care from a CAREGiver specially selected to match the needs and personality of your senior. Our CAREGivers ​are all fully screened, insured and bonded. For hourly service, each of them drives their own car.​


Brian Trainor - Owner

​Brian Trainor is a lifelong resident of Westchester County. He founded the Home Instead Senior Care office in White Plains, NY in June of 2004 to meet the growing need for eldercare services in the Westchester County area. Brian understood that the proven Home Instead Senior Care model was the best way to provide dependable, trusted senior home care. He believes in customizing senior home care that is tailored to meet the unique needs of each and every client, and remains dedicated to building strong and trusting relationships. ​

In late 2006, Brian's success enabled him to expand his service area to include all of Putnam County and parts of Dutchess County. As the business grew, Brian opened a second office in Yorktown Heights to better servce the nearby communities. Brian and his caring team understand the foundation of their success is the strong, personal relationships they build with each care receiver and their families and friends. Together, the team possess a heartfelt desire to work with families in our communities to help seniors lead safe and fulfilling lives in their homes. 


Angela Halstead - Staff Coordinator / Office Manager

​Angela joined Home Instead in 2006. After studying Special Education prior to joining our team, Angela worked as a live-in Resident’s Manager for teenagers and then adults.  After her experience as RM, it was a natural progression for Angela to switch to home health care working with the senior population. A caretaker at heart, she brought to Home Instead a commitment to playing a role in ensuring that the aging population can remain safe and taken care of in their own homes. As the Staff Coordinator for Southern Westchester, Angela handles the placement of caregivers into the homes of seniors, as well as the supervision of our caregivers in this territory. Angela also handles all of the administrative tasks for the office. In her free time, Angela is an avid Jazzerciser, and she loves to cook, read, and spend an occasional evening at Paintbar events. ​


Sue Gannon - Staff Coordinator

​Sue has been with Home Instead since 2010, and brings to the agency over 12 years as a staffing coordinator in the senior service industry. Sue handles the placement of caregivers into the homes of seniors who live in Northern Westchester, including areas north of Tarrytown and into Dutchess County.  Sue is also responsible for the supervision of all of the caregivers in this territory. What Sue loves most about her job is successfully meeting the needs of our clients by finding them “just the right” caregiver to suit their individual situation. In her free time, when she’s not eating out in Westchester’s best new restaurants, she loves to spend time with her husband and 2 daughters, and to take her dog Riley for long walks on the beach.​


Amy Slingerland, LCSW-R - Client Care Coordinator & Quality Assurance

Amy has been a Social Worker for over 26 years. Prior to Home Instead, she worked as a hospital social worker and for the Westchester County Department of Social Services. Joining the Home Instead team in 2013, Amy has a great understanding of the issues that affect our seniors at home. As the Client Care Coordinator, Amy assists with service inquires, and conducts In-Home Quality Assessments to ensure our clients are satisfied with the services they are receiving. In addition, she assists with the Training of our caregivers to help assure that our clients always get the best possible care, and she also serves as the Alzheimer's Support Group Leader. Amy has a wealth of knowledge of community resources and is available to seniors and their adult children for referrals, references and community resource information. In her free time, Amy is a voracious reader, and enjoys biking, entertaining, swimming, photography and travel.


Dana Bos - Community Outreach and Education / Client Care Coordinator

Dana joined the team in April, 2016. She is responsible for community outreach and education, which include raising awareness of Home Instead and bringing our public education programs to Westchester communities, as well as conducting Alzheimer's Business Training. As well Dana assists with service inquires and conducts In-Home Assessments.  She has 15+ years of public relations experience in the food and restaurant industry in New York City and Westchester. With an M.S. in Food & Nutrition, she has always been particularly interested in senior health and eating habits, and the changing nutritional needs of people as they age. In her free time, Dana does metalsmithing, event planning and décor, and loves to cook.


Michelle Moroney, RN - Director of Patient Services

Michelle comes to Home Instead with over 20 years of nursing experience as both a clinician and educator, including work as a Critical Care-Cardiac ER Nurse, Assisted Living/Resident Care Director, Home Care Field Nurse, and Long-Term Care Skilled Nursing Supervisor, to name just a few. As well, Michelle has a great deal of work with Alzheimer's & Dementia Care. Michelle is our Clinical Nurse Supervisor. She supervises our personal care staff and provides ongoing quality assessment visits for all our personal care clients. Outside of Home Instead, Michelle enjoys spending time with her family, traveling, hiking and baking.


Thomas McPhillips - Director of Home Care Consulting

Thomas is our newest team member. He has first-hand experience with Home Instead, having used our services for his mother. His role is building and maintaining relationships with referral provider networks including medical facilities, senior support centers and other senior services in the Westchester community. He has a background in Consultative Sales and Marketing within the advertising and insurance fields. Thomas is a huge fan of Notre Dame football, an avid music lover, and enjoys time with his family. He is very much looking forward to working with the senior community in Westchester.
