Linda Nwosu had just moved from Dallas to Houston when she began her online search for a senior-care job like the one she had.
"I did not want to work for just any agency. I wasn't sure who it would be," explained Linda, who had worked for a company like Home Instead Senior Care® in Dallas.
Linda's research was intensive. She checked out all senior-care agencies' online ratings, from one star to five stars, and eliminated the companies with three or fewer stars. "I further checked into the four- and five-star companies and made calls to the three highest-rated employers," Linda said.
When Linda called the Home Instead Senior Care franchise that serves Houston, Bellaire, Missouri City and Sugar Land, a staff member quickly returned the call and set up an interview. Following the vetting process, Linda was hired in July 2016 at owner Greg Gomez-Mira's award-winning company at 8313 Southwest Freeway, Suite 109.
"I love the work. Home Instead Senior Care is very understanding and takes the CAREGivers' interests to heart. They have flexibility. The office staff's communications and listening skills are great. Not only that, but they talk to you with love," Linda said.
In January 2017, Linda was honored as the franchise's CAREGiver of the Month. "We were blessed that Linda applied. She has been a wonderful addition to our franchise, and we are truly ecstatic she is on our professional team of CAREGivers," Staff Coordinator and Office Manager Destiny Wesley said.
Linda's responsibilities include meal preparation, medication reminders, light housekeeping, companionship, and transportation and errands. In addition to those services, CAREGivers offer personal assistance with eating, grooming, dressing, bathing, incontinence, cognitive impairment and mobility. By expertly doing so, CAREGivers not only assist their clients but help their families eliminate worry, reduce stress and re-establish personal freedom.
