Karen & Dave Huber - Franchise Owners

Karen & Dave Huber - Franchise Owners
​​Karen & David Huber became franchise owners in October 2007.  Karen's previous career was in banking as the Senior Group Director of a locally owned bank in town.  Karen helped the senior customers with their banking needs in addition to holding monthly meetings and special events.  She also arranged and escorted the monthly bus trips; some just a day or two, others were week long trips throughout the United States, including cruises and international tours. 
 
Karen enjoys the day to day duties of running a busy office, yet her greatest enjoyment is being out meeting with new families and prospective clients to share with them the services that are offered here at Home Instead Senior Care. 
 
Having been born and raised in Cedar Rapids has helpfed because she knows what is going on within the community.  Karen's own Grandmother utilizes the services of Home Instead Senior Care.  As Karen witnessed her grandmothers decline in health, she realized the impact that has been made in her life by having assistance from a CAREGiver a few times a week.  Karen encourages her CAREGivers and office staff to provide that same quality of care and attention that her grandmother receives.  
 
David continures works at Penford Products in Cedar Rapids, yet he is actively involved with major decisions for the office and helps out when he can.  He enjoys meeting with the CAREGivers and assisting the Home Instead office staff with special projects during the year, especially the golf outings! 
 
"To Us, It's Personal" is not only part of the Home Instead logo, it is what Karen & David believe in, which is why they made the decision to become franchise owners and why they truly enjoy what they do each day.

Sherry Peterson - Office Manager

Sherry Peterson - Office Manager Sherry Peterson started with Home Instead Senior Care in April of 2007 as a CAREGiver. In June of that same year, she was brought into the office as the Recruiting and Retention Coordinator. As business continued to grow she stepped into the Office Manager position. She takes pride in making sure that we have the right type of CAREGiver scheduled for each of our clients.
Sherry is typically the staff member that you will reach if you call the office after business hours. She feels it is most reassuring to clients, their families, and caregivers to know that someone who knows them and their needs is available at nights and on the weekends.  Sherry is proud to say that her husband and all of their children are Veterans.  Outside of work hours, Sherry enjoys spending time visiting with Veterans, particularly Veterans in our local care centers.

Amanda Bunney -Client Care Coordinator

Amanda initially joined our team as a CAREGiver.  Her capacity to relate to the clients, families and other caregivers prompted us to invite her to join the office team as our Client Care Coordinator. 

Amanda was a full-time caregiver for her grandmother.  It was in that role where she developed a high level of empathy for the families of aging adults.  Amanda describes herself as a natural born caregiver. Although her grandmother lost her battle to cancer in 2012, she continues to be an inspiration to Amanda!

Having worked in facilities as a CNA, Amanda is able to tap into that strong skill set to provide mentoring and coaching to our CAREGivers.   She looks forward to meeting new families and doing her part to ensure that the goals of remaining home as longs as possible are achieved.

Amanda has four children who are quite active in school sports and activities. When they are not on a ballfield, they love to be outdoors enjoying camping, hiking or traveling.  


Jill Kuhn - Service Coordinator

Jill Kuhn - Service Coordinator

Jill started with Home Instead Senior Care in February of 2018 as the Staffing Coordinator. Her primary role is to ensure each client's schedule has a personal touch. Currently, she is going to school and will graduate with a  BA in Human Resources Management in October 2018.

Jill's grandparents received home care.  Their experiences gave her insights on the importance of consistent scheduling and creating relationships built on trust.  She understands the value of finding solutions that answer the issues at hand, not just for today, but into the future. 

 Jill was married to her husband in November 2013.  They expanded their family in June 2015 with their son. If not at work or studying for school she can usually be found at her parents' farm. Jill enjoys spending time with her family, riding horse and camping with friends. 


Liz Jenkins - Recruiting and Engagement Coordinator

Liz Jenkins - Recruiting and Engagement Coordinator

Liz Jenkins started with Home Instead Senior Care in August of 2014 as the Administrative Assistant. In March of 2015 she transitioned to the Staffing Coordinator position and worked diligently in that role until August of 2017 when she started as the Recruiting and Engagement Coordinator.

Liz enjoys getting to know each potential CAREGiver as they interview as well as any new CAREGivers in their onboarding process. Liz also enjoys getting to stay in touch with and building relationships with our current CAREGiver team!

Outside of office hours, Liz enjoys spending time with her husband, as well as their son. 


Lori Barenz - Administrative Assistant

Lori Barenz - Administrative Assistant

Lori joined our office in 2015 as our billing specialist.  She is typically the first voice you will hear when you call our office.  Lori's many years in the accounting and bookkeeping field have proved to be beneficial in ensuring accurate billing.  Several of the clients are utilizing their long-term health care or VA benefits.  Lori will support those clients and families as they go through the process of opening their claims. 

Lori and her husband, Craig have a son and daughter.  Both of their children are very active in sporting and school events.  They are so active, that most of Lori's time is spent in the bleachers or volunteering at the events! 


Michelle Brown - CAREGiver Mentor

Michelle joined Home Instead Senior Care in 2013 as a CAREGiver.  Her ability to provide a high level of care was so evident that in 2015, we honored her as CAREGiver of the Year.
