With their own parents in their 80s, Susan and Mac Johnson are sensitive to the challenges of caring for aging parents. Living quite a distance from their parents, they also understand the importance of knowing loved ones are well-cared for even when you’re not able to visit yourself.
Looking for an opportunity to align their business values with their desire to suppport seniors and their families in the community led Susan and Mac to investigate opening a Home Instead Senior Care office in Santa Barbara County. Running an independent business focused on clients remaining safely at home with assistance from CAREGivers appealed to their desire to move away from distractions of corporate politics and be in a business closely aligned wit h their values, while providing a valuable service to so many seniors on the Central Coast.
Since opening Home Instead Senior Care in 2002, Susan and Mac have been providing a service to Santa Barbara County seniors that help them stay at home longer through the care and support of their carefully selected team of CAREGivers, staff coordinators and community liaisons. The kind of care they want for their own parents is what guides Susan and Mac in running their business. Home Instead Senior Care, Santa Barbara County has grown from a staff of two to providing care for Clients throughout the County, all while ensuring each individual receives the personalized attention they deserve.

"I just want to take this moment to express our family's gratitude to Home Instead for their selfless care and positive energy. Our caregiver visits once a week to help with the bath. Then, she helps out with cleaning, organizing, walking the dog and whatever we need that particular week. She is always happy to see us.
