A tradition of great caregiving means that we take care of our own as well as we take care you and your family. 

We reward our local CAREGivers with CAREGiver of the Month and CAREGiver of the Year awards to show our appreciation for all they do. Home Instead, Inc. also recognizes regional CAREGivers of the Year and one special CAREGiver who shows exceptional dedication is the recipient of the national award — The Mary Steibel CAREGiverSM of the Year Award.

This program inspires CAREGivers to strive for excellence. It creates a sense of pride and rewards their hard work, compassionate care and service to others.

June 2017 CAREGiver of the Month - Rosie

June 2017 CAREGiver of the Month - Rosie

Rosie is known as “a rescue CAREGiver.” She will help any client in a pinch, no matter what the challenge, and even on short notice. Explaining that Rosie joined the award-winning Home Instead Senior Care franchise in October 2016, Recruitment Coordinator LeeAnn Loveland said: “Rosie is fairly new with us, but she has already proved to be a great asset. ​Nearly two years ago, when Jane was CAREGiver of the Month for Home Instead Senior Care® Livonia in August 2015, she recalled how she had often lost to a client in checkers. April 2017 CAREGiver of the Month - Luvenia

Luvenia was looking for part-time work last summer and went online before finding Home Instead Senior Care. “I like Home Instead Senior Care because they are very accommodating about the scheduling and take my family time into consideration. Of course, my priority for work hours rests with my full-time job,” said Luvenia, who will be making a major life change next summer when she begins a two-year college program to become a registered nurse. March 2017 CAREGiver of the Month - Judy

Home Instead Senior Care staff members agree that Judy has gone above and beyond the call of duty. She often trades shifts with CAREGiver team members so that their client can see the same familiar faces. In one stretch, she worked 12 straight days that included 9 p.m. to 7 a.m. shifts. On Fridays from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., Judy and her husband take care of a granddaughter who will turn 3 on July 9. They also have two grandsons who are in school. Read more...

​Wanda found Home Instead Senior Care online while looking for a home health care job. “I worked in an assisted living facility for about 10 years. With assisted living, you might have up to 30 residents under your care, but that is not unusual,” Wanda said. “I like working for Home Instead Senior Care. She works Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays in a supervisory role for a group home on behalf of a rehabilitation services company. CAREGiver of the Month - Alyce

​Alyce’s vast professional experience includes positions as a rehabilitation aide, a hospice personal care attendant and in dementia care, among other responsibilities. “I specialized with Alzheimer’s clients in Ohio. I have had many dementia clients who were nonverbal, so I follow body language and cues,” Alyce said. “I loved every minute of the job in Ohio, and I liked the one-on-one nature of the job. Perhaps half serious and half jesting, a client told Karen that her 84-year-old husband “wasn’t for sale.” Replied Karen: “I see the ‘sold’ sign on him. Where did you get him? I’d like to go to that store and get one like him.” Karen handled the situation with humor, but she also got the point because she has worked with many couples. “I am always very nice to her and make sure I talk to her first when I come in the door,” said Karen, who assists two couples as her regular clients, with both wives needing the most help. Owner Glenna Yaroch’s franchise discovered that Jess was the perfect job applicant. She helped care for a grandmother before she died. In her third year of college, she worked for the Texas Visiting Nurse Service. Jess earned an associate’s degree in health and human services and was a licensed CNA who was the director of resident services at a seniors’ facility.
