"I am continually struck by the professionalism, high level of caring and exemplary caregivers that I have met from Home Instead. My mom couldn't live without them, and neither could I.
Lane Atkins was born in Dallas Texas and raised in Ft. Smith, AR. He graduated from Baylor University in 1993 with a Bachelor of Arts in communications. After graduation, he began a sales career in the Software Industry which spanned 10 years and 3 cities. Always looking for an opportunity to start his own business, he purchased his franchise of Home Instead Senior Care in January 2003."I have always loved spending time with seniors because I enjoy their company and wisdom. I've also always had a passion for helping others. So when I had the opportunity to do both of those things with Home Instead, I jumped at the chance. I was first introduced to in-home senior care after our family hired a company to care for my grandmother who was diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease in her late 70's. Just after graduating from Baylor, I lived with my grandmother in Garland, while I was looking for a job in the Dallas area. We were always close, but after living with her for several months we really had a special relationship. Unfortunately, a few years after I moved out, she was diagnosed with Alzheimer's and our family began the long journey of caring for her. My aunt lived close by so she was the primary caregiver and my mom did everything she could as a long-distance caregiver. Eventually it became too much for them to handle on their own and they hired a professional caregiving company. That's when I saw first-hand how hiring a professional caregiving company could relieve so much stress from the family caregivers. It helped my aunt with the day to day things and helped my mom relieve feelings of guilt for living so far away. The live-in caregiver that worked with my grandmother for the last few years was compassionate and kind and became like a part of the family."It's been a real blessing to have met and served hundreds of local seniors and their families. I've learned some very valuable lessons from meeting these amazing individuals with amazing life experiences, all you have to do is give them some time and listen.
