Chair mobility, walking, stretching, yoga and physical-therapy exercises are important to incorporate into your daily routine (along with your prescribed medications). Together, these exercises promote circulation and bowel regulation. Dementia_Brain.png

And studies have shown that these types of physical activity can enhance memory. In fact, findings based on a study by scientists with Irvine's Center for the Neurobiology of Learning & Memory have discovered immediate effects of brief bouts of moderate exercise on memory in 50-to-85-year-old participants. Results showed a striking enhancement of short-term and intermediate memory in both healthy and cognitively impaired adults, compared with subjects.

This could be the first step toward improving your quality of life and preventing mental decline; however, please consult your doctor before starting any new exercise plan. If allowed by your doctor, consider trying the Home Instead-approved “Let’s Get Moving” mobility plan.
