Home caregivers who are looking after elderly loved ones know that preventing falls and other accidents is important, especially for those with brittle bones. Making a home as safe as it can be is a primary concern for many home caregivers and senior citizens.

How can one recognize areas where safety can be improved? And what steps can be taken to make any home safer? Home caregivers with these questions on their minds should attend the free May 4 webinar sponsored by Home Instead Senior Care.

The Webinar

“Home Safety for Seniors” is the latest in the ongoing series of Family Caregiver Support webinars. It is scheduled to begin at 10:00 a.m. Pacific time (12:00 noon Central, 1:00 p.m. Eastern) on Wednesday, May 4, 2016. Simple modifications can often make a significant difference in improving the safety of one’s home. These small changes may have a big impact on preventing falls or other accidents.

Home caregivers who attend this online webinar can leave the session being able to:

Better understand how important home safety is, especially in a household with an elderly occupant.
Identify warning signs and potential sources of danger in their home (or the home of a loved one).
Come up with simple strategies to make a home a safer environment.
Participants will also learn about home safety checklists and affordable fixes for their houses or apartments.

The Speaker

Lakelyn Hogan is currently working toward a Master of Arts in Social Gerontology. Lakelyn’s passion for helping others has led her work with aging adults and their families as they navigate the senior care continuum.
