Maureen Hopkins - General Manager

Maureen Hopkins - General Manager

Maureen has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology and a minor in Business Relations from the University of Maryland, College Park.  Go Terps!.  She worked as an event planner and public relations associate in Manhattan for two years after graduation.  She then lived in Maui for three years where she grew a passion for Scuba Diving and found the love of her life, her husband Chris, a fellow New Yorker.   After living the good life in Maui she decided to move back closer to her family and is now living in Saratoga Springs.

Maureen has worked for Home Instead periodically throughout its existence in Saratoga Springs in a variety of assignments and positions, and is now quite comfortable with her new title of Office Manager.  Her favorite part about working with Seniors is hearing their tales and adventures and sometimes even getting to share her own.

Linda Powers - Client Care Coordinator

Linda Powers - Client Care Coordinator Linda Powers, PHR is our Client Care Coordinator. In that role she is our face to potential new clients. She meets with potential clients and often their families, to determine if the services provided by Home Instead are appropriate to meet the client's specific needs. She also performs follow-up visits to clients to determine on-going satisfaction with our services and CAREGivers. In previous positions Linda was a business and human resources professional, and an adjunct instructor for computer basics and Microsoft Office (Nassau Community College and SUNY Adirondack). Linda received her Master of Arts degree in Business and Policy Studies and undergraduate in Education and Business. A believer in lifelong learning, she received her professional human resources certification earning the PHR title for the periods of 2007-2010 and recertification for 2010-2013. Linda also completed a medical transcription course (terminology, anatomy and transcription) in May 2010 and received Microsoft Certified Application certification for Word 2007. She enjoys meeting people and her current role will provide substantial opportunity for doing just that. Outside of work she and her husband enjoy the outdoors: camping, boating, fishing, and snowshoeing.

Laurie Glogowski - Recruitment and Retention Coordinator

Laurie Glogowski - Recruitment and Retention Coordinator

Laurie received her Associates Degree in Accounting from Fulton Montgomery Community College. Upon graduation she went to work in the business office of a local nursing home. Her office happened to be situated on a patient wing. It was here that Laurie found her niche in life. Residents who lived at the nursing home would stop by and say hello and share their day. This was best part of her day and she believes it brightened their day as well.

Laurie had a very special relationship with her grandmother Theresa who lived to the age of 96. They enjoyed spending time together, often sitting down for a great game of pinochle, and Laurie helping her Grandmother with daily tasks when assistance was needed.

After moving to the Saratoga Springs area Laurie worked in the adult day care field for many years. Laurie recently worked in our office as a Staff Coordinator. She is happy to be back under her new role that still allows her to work with our wonderful CAREGivers. She is “happy to be back in the office with a great group of co-workers.” (Her quote, not ours, but we couldn’t agree more!)

Laurie shares her life with her husband, four children and her dog Darby. She enjoys gardening, cooking, playing card, scrapbooking and taking walks with Darby.

Maria Geizer - Community Relations Director

Maryellen Carpenter - Vice President

Maryellen Carpenter - Vice President

Maryellen Carpenter is our Vice President, financial guru and payroll expert.

Maryellen has a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from the University at Albany.  She worked for New York State government for 32 years, retiring in August of 2002 from her position as Director of Human Resources Management for the New York State Division of the Budget.  Following a three week "retirement", she joined Home Instead Senior Care, where she quickly learned to do everything.  Over the last few years, we have hired the staff you met above, and her life is now simpler.

Maryellen and Nelson's family has recently expanded.  Their son Michael and daughter-in-law Kate reside in New York City with their 2 year old daughter Lila and her new sister, Casey. Since Lila and Casey's arrival, New York City has become one of our favorite places to visit. Our daughter Maureen married Chris Hopkins last summer on Cape Cod and have recently added puppy Allie to their family.

Jeannie Forand - Staffing Coordinator

Jeannie Forand - Staffing Coordinator

Jeannie was raised in Burnt Hills, NY and graduated from the Burnt Hills Ballston Lake High School 1978.  She was married in 1978 after high school and has 1 daughter Amanda and 2 grandsons and has several great grandchildren with her present husband.  Jeannie's oldest Grandson is a United States Marine serving in Japan for the next two years. "I think it's important that my first born is a United States Marine, on call to defend this great county".  Jeannie had a Rottweiler/Australian Shepard named Abby for 16 of those years.  She graduated Schenectady County Community College with AAS in Clerical/ Word Processing (Transcriptions) in 1987.

Her father died of Dementia so that subject is very important to her and "anything I can do to help the fight against Alzheimer's."    Her Mother is 87 and as her legal guardian Jeannie spends most of her spare time taking care of her.

"I came to work for Home Instead Sr Care June 2012 and did not realize how rewarding it was going to be.  I pride myself with being able to match up the perfect care giver for our clients' needs and personalities.  It is very satisfying when a client calls me to tell me how wonderful their care giver is that I sent them.  Making seniors lives a little easier and taking some stress off of client families who care for the seniors is very rewarding to me.  I will be with HISC when I'm a senior and beyond. I love it that much."
