Maureen Hopkins - General Manager

Maureen Hopkins - General Manager

Maureen has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology and a minor in Business Relations from the University of Maryland, College Park.  Go Terps!.  She worked as an event planner and public relations associate in Manhattan after graduation.  She then lived in Maui for several years where she grew a passion for Scuba Diving and found the love of her life, her husband Chris, a fellow New Yorker.   After living the good life in Maui she decided to move back closer to her family and is now living in Saratoga Springs.

Maureen has worked for Home Instead throughout its 18 year's in Saratoga Springs in a variety of assignments and positions.  She now serves as General Manager and has recently become a Minority Owner.  Her favorite part about working with Seniors is hearing their tales and adventures and listening to their advice.  She is amazed at the impact our CAREGiving team has on the lives of our clients.

Aside from handling the day-to-day operations at Home Instead, Maureen can also be found running after her son, Brendan.  Brendan, in typical three year old fashion, never sits still.  When not at Home Instead or chasing her son, Maureen can be found in the classroom as she works to acquire her degree in Nursing.  Amazingly, she is still able to find time to sleep.

Maria Geizer - Community Relations Director

Maria Geizer - Community Relations Director

Maria does the marketing for our office throughout the tri-county area we serve. She networks with area hospitals, rehabilitation facilities and various senior organizations to ensure that the community knows who we are and how we can assist folks by providing quality in-home care. Maria also presents community programs and workshops on issues related to aging, such as Alzheimer's education for families, home safety, preventing hospitalizations and senior fraud protection.

​Currently, Maria is an active volunteer for the Alzheimer's Association. She is one of their Caregiver Support Group Leaders and is also a member of their Adirondack Leadership Council. She is a member of the Warren, Hamilton and Washington County Long Term Care Council and the Saratoga County Aging and Disability Network.  She is also an active member of the Saratoga Springs Lions Club, and has recently been elected Secretary of the New York Statewide Senior Action Council - Saratoga Chapter.


Laurie Glogowski - Client Care Manager

Laurie Glogowski  - Client Care Manager

Laurie received her Associates Degree in Accounting from Fulton Montgomery Community College. Upon graduation she went to work in the business office of a local nursing home. Her office happened to be situated on a patient wing. It was here that Laurie found her niche in life. Residents who lived at the nursing home would stop by and say hello and share their day. This was best part of her day and she believes it brightened their day as well. 

Laurie had a very special relationship with her grandmother Theresa who lived to the age of 96. They enjoyed spending time together, often sitting down for a great game of pinochle, and Laurie helping her Grandmother with daily tasks when assistance was needed. 

After moving to the Saratoga Springs area Laurie worked in the adult day care field for many years. Laurie recently worked in our office as a Staff Coordinator. She is happy to be back under her new role that still allows her to work with our wonderful CAREGivers. She is "happy to be back in the office with a great group of co-workers." (Her quote, not ours, but we couldn't agree more!) 

Laurie shares her life with her husband, four children and her dog Darby. She enjoys gardening, cooking, playing card, scrapbooking and taking walks with Darby. 

Marsha Scotti - Client Care Manager

Marsha Scotti - Client Care Manager

Marsha has an Associate's Degree in Liberal Arts and Business from Cobleskill College. She also attended Russell Sage College and the University of Scranton. She started her working career at General Electric where she was a specialist, quality control for electric insulation for generators. She moved to Pennsylvania and owned a florist and greenhouse business, Beagle Florist, for 10 years. Subsequently, she worked as a treatment coordinator for an orthodontic practice. Coming out of retirement, she is now our Client Care Manager, having finally figured out what she wants to do when she grows up.  She states this is her dream job and we couldn’t be happier.  Marsha has three children scattered across the country in Los Angeles, Seattle and Scranton…all great places she really enjoys visiting!

Dale Were - Recruitment & Engagement Coordinator

Dale grew up in Delmar NY where she was a graduate of Bethlehem Central High School. Dale studied Business Administration, Business English and Business Math. Dale was a member of DECA (Distributive Education Clubs of America) which prepares emerging leaders and entrepreneurs in marketing, finance, hospitality and management in high schools and colleges.

Dale grew up in her family's business in Delmar, where she mastered customer service, her managerial and supervisor experience along with office administration and basic accounting.  She attended numerous Boston Gift Shows with her mother as well as National Retail Hardware Conventions with her father, who at the time was the President of the Association. During her years in Delmar she was an active member in Bethlehem Community Church, where she was a second grade Sunday School Teacher along with teaching Bible Studies to the kids during the summer Bethlehem Christian Workshops.

Taking a short break from her family's business, Dale acquired her CNA certificate and worked the overnight shift at Eden Park Nursing home, where she gained valuable insight into the world of nursing homes. Since that experience, Dale has been an advocate for keeping seniors home as long as possible so they can live in their own homes and enjoy their lives as much as possible.

Although Dale's career paths changed to an Executive Administrative Assistant, Marketing/Advertising Manger, office manager and supervisory positions, she never lost her passion for seniors.

Due to life's circumstances, Dale was needed at home for a time. During that period, Dale answered the call of two different friends who needed home care for their mothers. She jumped at the opportunity to help not only her friends, but their beautiful mothers stay at home.  During that time Dale was an interim Director of the Open Door Soup Kitchen for a year, where she fed hundreds of people a week, clothed and helped to shelter numerous homeless as well as council teens that had temporarily lost their way. Her office door was always open to those who we released from prison, to teens who were in dire straits and even to a little office mouse!

Dale has never lost her passion for the elderly, homeless, the downtrodden. She is always on call 24 hours a day for those who are in need of an ear.

She says her love and passion for the elderly comes from her Grandmother who lived until she was 96. The last 10 years of her life, her grandmother lived with her parents with Dale helping with her care. "She was always my inspiration". Dale's mother is almost 94 and is still on her own in Acts Community in Vero Beach Florida.

Dale has two children and four grandchildren, who are the loves of her life.

Dale is an avid photographer, when she is not spending time with her grandchildren, she can be found in the mountains, by the edge of a lake or at weddings taking pictures. She is a piano player/keyboard player and has numerous friends in the music industry.

Loriann Eldridge - Staffing Coordinator

Loriann Eldridge - Staffing Coordinator

Lori grew up in Ballston Lake where she attended Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake Schools.  Lori studied Business Administration throughout her Senior year.

All her life she has taken care of others. It is her passion to do so. She cared for her Mom, Dad & Grandmothers. She worked in a Memory Care Facility for ten years. She believes helping others is what she is meant to do.

Working at Home Instead lets her continue to do the work she enjoys. She enjoys matching CAREGivers that will be best suited for our clients.  She also enjoys getting to know the families too!

Lori teaches Obedience & Conformation Dog classes at the 4-H Center. She is very involved with dogs. She serves on the Board as Secretary for Saratoga NY Kennel Club and a Board Member with Northland Newfoundland Club. She is a member of Newfoundland Club of America where she serves on many committees. She is also a member of the Stewards Club of Upstate New York.

Lori resides in Ballston Spa with her three Newfoundland dogs: Sully, Clancy & Avery. 

Susan Clayton - Care Coordinator

​Susan has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Liberal Arts from SUNY Oneonta. She spent her Freshman year at the Fashion Institute of Technology in Manhattan and her Junior year in Nottingham, England. While studying abroad, Susan traveled extensively in Great Britain and Europe. Susan started at Home Instead as a CAREGiver, but now enjoys working in the office where she can assist our clients, as well as our CAREGivers. Susan has always enjoyed helping Seniors, whether it was a neighbor or a family member. 


She and her husband live in Ballston Spa. Susan has 4 daughters and her husband has 3 sons. Between them, they have 8 grandchildren. When her children were youmg, Susan taught Sunday school and was their Girl Scout/Brownie troop leader.  Susan loves to travel, spend time with her grandkids and laugh!  

Linda Powers - Care Coordinator

Linda Powers - Care Coordinator Linda Powers, PHR is our Care Coordinator. In this role she is our face to potential new clients. She meets with potential clients and often their families, to determine if the services provided by Home Instead are appropriate to meet the client's specific needs. She also performs follow-up visits to clients to determine on-going satisfaction with our services and CAREGivers. In previous positions Linda was a business and human resources professional, and an adjunct instructor for computer basics and Microsoft Office (Nassau Community College and SUNY Adirondack). Linda received her Master of Arts degree in Business and Policy Studies and undergraduate in Education and Business. A believer in lifelong learning, she received her professional human resources certification earning the PHR title for the periods of 2007-2010 and recertification for 2010-2013. Linda also completed a medical transcription course (terminology, anatomy and transcription) in May 2010 and received Microsoft Certified Application certification for Word 2007. She enjoys meeting people and her current role will provide substantial opportunity for doing just that. Outside of work she and her husband enjoy the outdoors: camping, boating, fishing, and snowshoeing. 

Georgia Scaringe - Bookkeeper

​Georgia brings to her position over 20 years of business experience with varied responsibilities including: controller; human resource manager; benefits administration; office management; and customer service.  She has worked for large national and international organizations but found her true calling while working at a small assisted living facility in Peterborough, NH.   Georgia felt a connection to residents and very much enjoyed the interactions she had with them as well as the staff.   She has also uses her accounting and bookkeeping skills to assist small businesses through her own company. 

Originally from this area, Georgia and her husband Tony moved back to Saratoga from New Hampshire where they lived for nearly 20 years.  Most of their family still lives in this area and being near their daughters and grandchildren has been a blessing.  Their youngest daughter and two of their grandchildren live in Florida providing a nice place to get away in winter.     

Maryellen Carpenter - Vice President

Maryellen Carpenter - Vice President
Maryellen has a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from the University at Albany.  She worked for New York State government for 32 years, retiring in August of 2002 from her position as Director of Human Resources Management for the New York State Division of the Budget.  Following a three week "retirement", she joined Home Instead Senior Care, where she quickly learned to do everything.  Over the last few years, we have hired the staff you met above, and her life is now simpler.

Maryellen and Nelson's family has recently expanded.  Their son Michael and daughter-in-law Kate reside in Pelham with their 2 daughters Lila and Casey. Since Lila and Casey's arrival, New York City has become one of their favorite places to visit. Thier daughter Maureen and son-in-law Chris have a son, Brendan, who they spoil rotten with golf cart rides and trains.

Nelson Carpenter - Owner

Nelson Carpenter - Owner

Nelson Carpenter is the Owner of NEC CARE, Inc. doing business as Home Instead Senior Care. 

Nelson started Home Instead in Saratoga Springs following a diverse career in health benefits.  He was Director of Employee Health Benefits in the New York City Mayor's Office of Labor Relations and later Deputy Director of the NYS Governor's Office of Employee Relations.  Upon leaving government he served as Vice President of Value Health, Inc. and National Vice President of Prudential Healthcare.  After working for mega-sized employers for over 33 years, Nelson thought it might be nice to work for a smaller company, so he started his own.
He recently served on the Board of Directors of the Senior Center of Saratoga Springs, the Visiting Nurse Services Foundation of Schenectady and Saratoga Springs, and the Alzheimer's Association of Northeastern NY.  He is President of the Lake Placid Club Lodges Resort and his family spends much of their free time in Lake Placid.  He and his wife Maryellen live on McGregor Golf Course where he is a fairly mediocre golfer.  She's pretty good.

​For 14 years Maddie was our Official Greeter.  Maddie passed away this summer but Staff, many Caregivers and  numerous guests have fond memories of visiting Home Instead and being welcomed by this cute and lovable black lab.  We all miss her.
