Crystal is our CAREGiver of the month for November! Crystal started with Home Instead Senior Care in 2009 and has worked with several clients over the years. Her favorite part about working as a CAREGiver is being able to learn about the history of her clients. She loves listening to their stories and visiting about the past. Crystal works a fulltime job in addition to her work with Home Instead Senior Care. She also has 4 children and 3 grandchildren. In her free times she loves to spend time with her family and also enjoys working on jigsaw puzzles which she glues and frames! Thank you, Crystal, for all the care you continue to provide for our clients!
Sarah is our CAREGiver of the month for October! Sarah has been with Home Instead Senior Care since July of this year. Since starting she has worked over 400 hours and has taken on all kinds of shifts including days, weekends and overnight. This is amazing because she does this while being a wife, mom, and a fulltime student! Sarah says her favorite part of the job is that she feels like she goes to see a friend when she goes to shift instead of like she is going to work. She also enjoys the appreciation that the clients have for her just by knowing she is there. Sarah is thankful for the flexibility Home Instead Senior Care offers her as she has such a busy schedule. Thank you Sarah for all you do for our clients!
Jaunwanda was selected as CAREGiver of the month for September! She started with Home Instead Senior Care after relocating from Alabama to Illinois to Iowa. We are so glad she did! Jaunwanda works with several clients and is always willing to help out wherever and whenever needed. Her favorite part of her job is seeing her clients smile and knowing that she helped create happiness and joy in their lives. In her free time, Jaunwanda loves to cook and bake. We know her clients love this about her! She also enjoys movies and collects all types from Westerns, to Comedies, to Action. Jaunwanda is very family oriented and loves to spend time with her loved ones as much as possible. Thank you for everything you do Jaunwanda! You are such a valued member of our team!
Allison was selected as CAREGiver of the month for August! She is in contact with the office on a regular basis and reports any needs or concerns in a professional manner. She is also always willing to learn more about her clients in order to best meet their needs. Allison’s favorite part of her job is the bond she makes with her clients and has discovered that because of this, patience is easy even during the difficult moments. Allison is a 3rd degree black belt in karate, starting the martial art at age 4. She was teaching her own class by age 17! We are so thankful for Allison and all the care she has provided to the clients.
Carla was selected as our July CAREGiver of the month. Carla started providing excellent care to our clients in July of 2012. Since then she has worked with around 15 clients! Carla comes from a teaching background and it shows with her versatility and ability to adapt to many different clients. When asked what she likes best about her job, Carla said it was hearing the clients life stories. She loves to hear about history and how life was in the past. In her free time, Carla enjoys spending time with her three children and extended family. She loves the summer and being outside.
LuAnne was selected as our CAREGiver of the month for July. LuAnne consistently works with one couple 5 days a week and has since worked almost 500 hours with them alone! Because she has worked so often with this couple the family trusts her as their primary CAREGiver, and they work together to determine care needs. She always updates the office with any care notes she and the family discuss. We know they are grateful to have her! In her free time, LuAnne enjoys anything Hawkeye, going for bikes rides with her husband, and caring for her 2 dogs. She also has 7 siblings who are spread out all across the country. Thank you LuAnne for all you do for Home Instead Senior Care!
Courtney was selected as our CAREGiver of the month for this last May. Although Courtney was just hired in April, she works 5 overnights a week, traveling from Mount Vernon to Marengo to work the shifts! Courtney says she loves what she’s doing and wants to continue caring for her clients for a long time. She recently graduated with her bachelor’s degree in biochemistry and molecular biology. Courtney says that in her free time, she likes to sleep. We have no doubt about that given her busy work schedule and willingness to get up often each night to help her client! We are so glad to have her as part of our team, and we know our clients and their families appreciate her positive attitude and gentle demeanor!
Natalie is our CAREGiver of the Month for April! Although Natalie was finishing her last year of her bachelor’s education in psychology with a minor in music, she pulled a ridiculously busy schedule with us in April. She worked every day in April except for a mere 5 days, even while nearing the semester’s end. Honestly we don’t know how she does it! We think she’s able to schedule in so many shifts because she completed CNA training and worked as a CNA through high school. We’re glad she’s so great at time management, because our clients really love her bubbly personality and knowledge about caring for seniors. Natalie plans to continue taking some coursework and possibly completing an industrial and organizational psychology master’s degree. Natalie, we appreciate all your hard work!
Laura is our CG of the month for this last March! Laura has only been with us a short time, but she has already shown us that she is such a hard-worker and a VERY caring companion. Laura commutes to our client homes from Lisbon, IA, and even still she signed up to take shifts in Williamsburg. She is always willing to pick up shifts in a moment’s notice and calls us if her schedule randomly opens up to see if she can be of some help. Not just that, but she made a point to come in to complete her mandatory reporter training 4 months before it was due for her! When she’s not working, she’s outside gardening and walking her shepherd/husky mixed dogs. Again, we are so thankful for her hard work and willingness to help out any way she can. Thank you Laura for your great dependability!
We cannot say enough about how Joyce has helped us out this last February. Joyce has always been a consistent CG, working with one particular client daily totaling over 500 hours of service for her alone. In addition to working with this client, Joyce always goes the extra mile to help. One Monday in February, Joyce accepted a last minute shift at 6:30am, worked until 10am, went to her other client, and then back to the first client to work again until 5pm. It’s no wonder Joyce is a dedicated CG, since she was an LP nurse for several years and also lived with her grandfather when she was younger. When Joyce isn’t serving our clients, she enjoys spending time with her grandkids, making jewelry, and making pillows from t-shirts. Joyce, we so appreciate you and your work!
Becky is our CAREGiver of the month for the month of January. Becky started with us in June 2013 and before even being with us for a year, she has already worked over 500 hours! Becky is finishing her degree and in the process of applying for medical school in family medicine. When she is not working hard and studying, Becky likes to kickbox for fun. She’ll have been kickboxing for a year this March. Becky’s favorite part of being a CAREGiver is getting along with clients. She says they always seem to be very nice and uplifting, so she enjoys companionship with them. Becky has taken so many last minute shifts in January—even rearranging her schedule to stay for a 12-hour day. We’ve also received so many positive comments from her clients! Thanks Becky, you’re awesome!
Sharon is CAREGiver of the month for June! She works hard to ensure her clients needs are met by keeping informed and reporting pertinent information. Sharon leads by example by doing tasks done well at her clients home. Sharon is always willing to pick up extra shifts when needed. She says her favorite part of the job is hearing the stories of her clients’ past. She advises other potential CAREGivers to remember you might need to try many times in many different ways to re-direct but the outcome is well worth the effort!Congratulations Sharon and thank you for all the loving care you provide your clients!

Ami communicates often with the franchise office and reports any concerns she may have. Her favorite part of the job is knowing she is helping others enjoy life. She advises anyone considering or doing caregiving to never stop learning. Ami recently took the Alzheimer's and Dementia training with Home Instead Senior Care and said this was a great training which helps her care for her clients.
