Hondo Tongogara is our unanimous choice as our 2018 CAREGiver of the Year for Home Instead Senior Care in Charlotte, NC. Hondo lives Home Instead by sharing his heart with his clients, building trust with his clients and their loved ones and taking the lead to provide each client he serves with an improved quality of life.
Hondo shares his heart by showing dignity and respect to his clients and by building strong relationships with them. He listens intently and observes them closely. According to fellow CAREGiver Consuelo, "Hondo needs his own personal halo. I was the CAREGiver with Mr. S. who was in a grumpy mood one day, restless and wouldn't eat. When Hondo relieved me, Mr. S smiled and engaged in conversation. Hondo was able to get him up, change him and feed him a light snack. They both really enjoy each other and Mr. S trusts Hondo completely."
One client's daughter, Geoffrey, describes why her father is so fond of Hondo, "Hondo laughs at his jokes, helps him research things on Google, takes on projects like indexing Dad's CD collection. Hondo's greeting is 'Hello Buddy. How can I help you?' Hondo helps him without fuss. He speaks clearly and simply. He tells Dad what will happen and follows through. He notices things (my father really likes soup - I didn't realize). Hondo heard about Wednesdays being 'Boys' Day Out' and came early to join the boys' trip to Bass Pro Shop. He rescued me when Mom went limp while we were walking to the kitchen. What makes Hondo special is the man himself. He is a remarkable human being. We're privileged to know him. He's someone anyone would want to befriend. His judgement is good, his humor contagious. I trust him to care for my father!"
Hondo believes his greatest asset is his ability to observe and listen. "I observe my clients and I learn a lot about what they like. For example, I now feed John. I watch his pace and I feed him accordingly. He eats a lot more when I am with him."
According to Hondo, who is from Zimbabwe, "In my culture, we help our elders. It is drilled into us when we are young that are elders are to receive much respect and patience. I have received a lot of wisdom from my elders. There are ceremonies in villages and the older you are, the more respected you are. Everybody is a parent."
"I show compassion by living by the motto 'do unto others like I would like to be treated'. I choose every day to have a good day. That choice together with my patience gives me my compassion for others."
In addition to his excellent CAREGiving skills, Hondo's strongest leadership assets are his patience, kindness and humility.
According to Connie, our HCC, "Mrs. D, a client's wife, had high expectations of our CAREGivers in helping her husband with his PT exercises. At times, when Mr. D was too weak to do his exercises, our CAREGivers felt her demands were unreasonable. Hondo handled these difficult situations with grace and advocated for Mr. D in a way his wife would accept. For example, Hondo would say, 'Mr. D seems tired today. Would it be ok with you if he did his exercises sitting in his wheelchair?' Mrs. D trusted Hondo's judgement and always agreed to his recommendations."
While observing Hondo on QA visits, our staff said he is patient, allowing the client's pace and needs to determine the care he provides. For example, while many CAREGivers will rush a client to bed, Hondo takes Mr. S's lead and puts him to bed slowly. Mr. S always says, 'you do this so well.' The client's daughter has Hondo show other CAREGivers how to do things for her father.
According to Hondo, "I observe John. I look at my clients and think, if it was me, how would I want to be handled? I always tell him what I am doing. I'm very slow and I constantly communicate."
In addition to these wonderful traits, Hondo is articulate and well educated. He has a master's degree in Information Management as well as state CNA certification. He also has the equivalent of a Bachelor's degree in Hospitality Management.
Hondo is soft spoken and presents to others as almost Zen-like in his demeanor, always smiling and remaining calm. Nothing rattles Hondo. He says of himself, "The personal state that I choose to be in- I choose not to have a bad day. If I'm having a good day, I can deal with others. It's a personal choice. I guess I have a lot of my father in me."
We are very blessed to have Hondo on our team. He is a kind, considerate and compassion human and gives the men he helps a quality of life that they might not have had without his care. He gives family members peace of mind, knowing that their loved ones are treated with dignity and respect. Hondo's parents, family and his culture have provided him with a solid foundation to be an extraordinary CAREGiver. Hondo's personality, love and compassion make him invaluable to us and his clients.
The CAREGiver of the Month of November is Dolores B. Dolores joined Home Instead Senior Care on September 27, 2016 and she has worked a total of 3636 hours. It's not the amount of hours she has put in for us consistently, it is the spirit she brings to the job. She is a joy even when, by the clients own admission, they are not so easy.
Here is what one of her clients said about Dolores:
Delores is just as nice and as sweet as can be. Mom was a ball of fire even before the Dementia set in. Mom has this streak of independence. You can say, " Can we take a shower?" and mom will say "Why, do I stink?" If you say, "Can I help with the dishes?" she will say "Why?! I can do my own dishes." Home Instead couldn't have sent a better CAREGiver for mom than Dolores. She has really been a so good with her.
As former owners of Home Instead Senior Care, Les & Roberta had a large pond of CAREGivers to choose from to care for their family member and they had this to say about Dolores. "We are so grateful to you for the compassionate care you gave our mother, Eleanor C. By providing her with great meals during the week, being her jeopardy and wheel of fortune sidekick and helping her into bed every night, you gave us tremendous peace of mind and provided her with much needed companionship. You were a comforting presence in the hospital during her final days. We will always be grateful for the important work that you do in keeping our loved ones 'home instead'. Thank you for everything, Dolores. Warmly, Les & Roberta
From Dolores' supervisor in the office, Karen K. we are told that Dolores has great personal care skills and relates well with her clients. Dolores is a quick learner and knows how to get her tasks done with efficiency.
It is clear that Dolores is a wonderful choice for CAREGiver of the Month during this month dedicated to gratitude. Home Instead Senior Care is truly grateful for your consistent joy and professional and loving care for our clients.
As our year comes to an end, we'd like to recognize Irene O. as our December CAREGiver of the Month. Our clients and staff love Irene's attitude, compassion and competence. According to one client, "Irene is great! She is always looking for things to do around the house. She has a sixth sense and that's in addition to being an incredible caregiver for my Sue. She is absolutely the best."
According to Consuelo, our Client Care Coordinator, "Irene is a quiet, kind, and gentle soul. CAREGiving comes naturally to her. She has a good skill set and is very organized. There is never a question about what she can or cannot do and it is obvious to the staff and clients that Irene can handle any situation. She is conscientious while providing personal care and her clients have faith in her doing it well while also maintaining their dignity and privacy. She does not need much explanation. She knows what to look for and can easily assess the client's needs and deliver quality care. She is always aware of the client's physical and emotional state."
Thank you, Irene, for your compassion and competence and for taking such exceptional care of your clients. We are fortunate to have you on our team!
Robbin J is our choice for CAREGiver of the Month for November. Two years ago, the team also chose Robbin as our CAREGiver of the Month. We have selected Robbin again because she continues to go above and beyond in caring for her clients and giving peace of mind to family members.
Robbin is a skilled CAREGiver who has a wonderful way and ability to connect with her client and their family members. She listens and learns and understands what is important to the client and to the family and then she adapts to accommodate those needs. Robbin did this beautifully with Mrs. C and her daughters. The client's daughters had a specific way they wanted things done for their Mom and to accommodate their Mom's culture and the things that were important to her. Robbin provided compassionate and customized care to her client and the family. It was important to the daughters that the CAREGiver be attentive 100% of the time, stay right next to her, watch her and keep her comfortable and calm, reassure her and fulfill all of her needs – water, wipe he mouth, fix her blankets, etc. Robbin did all of this exactly the way the client and family needed, not because she was told to but because she understood. Mrs. C's daughters experienced great peace of mind when Robbin was there. She did all of this with the utmost kindness, sweetness and compassion, constantly telling Mrs. C in the softest words that she was ok, beautiful and wonderful and she (Robbin) will do whatever Mrs. C needed to keep her happy and comfortable.
Another client, Mrs. F's daughter, Beth, said her mom loves Robbin. She said Robbin is so good with her mom and when Beth comes home, her mom is always talking about Robbin. Beth said she never worries when Robbin is with her mom.
A third client's brother said, "Robbin is an excellent caregiver. Not only is she efficient and caring and knowledgeable, but she is also a dynamite cook. She has made such a difference in my sister's life. I can never thank her and Home Instead enough for these services. It has allowed my sister to remain in the home."
Thank you, Robbin, for your compassionate care and for the close attention you pay to every client you serve. We are so very fortunate to have you on our team!!
Our unanimous choice for October CAREGiver of the Month is Angela C. For the past 2 ½ years Angela has made a difference in the lives of her clients by anticipating their needs and paying close attention to every detail.
According to Mrs. H, a client's wife, "Angela is wonderful, and we are lucky to have her here every day. Angela pays close attention to my husband and knows everything about him and the care he needs. She is able to get things done that were difficult for others to accomplish. At a recent doctor's appointment, I was so grateful Angela was there because she was able to answer every question the doctor had about my husband's physical problems, so much better than I could. Even when things get rough and don't go so well, Angela can keep things going and contributes so much good to our lives."
Another client's daughter said, "My mother finds it comforting to have Angela around. She watches mom to make sure she's safe and that is very important to me. Angela is very caring, and my mom has grown very fond of Angela. My mom hugs Angela and she doesn't easily hug people. This gives me peace of mind."
Thank you, Angela, for the extra-ordinary care you give to your clients and how you make the little things big to each of them. We are so fortunate to have you on our team!
As our choice for September CAREGiver of the Month, Tanya, exemplifies teamwork, compassion and professionalism. For the past three years as a Home Instead CAREGiver, Tanya has done an outstanding job with every client she helps. She has a beautiful smile, warm personality and clients instantly like her. One client's son called Tanya 'a godsend', 'an angel'. "Tanya is born to do this work", he said.
On one occasion Tanya even called the office to compliment her fellow CAREGivers who were caring for the same client, a true example of her commitment to teamwork.
According to Anne Hyde, RN, one of our Client Care Managers, "I have observed Tanya working with her clients and she really cares. On a visit to a client's home after they started services, the clients looked amazingly different. They were rested, stood up straighter, looked healthier and happier. Tanya has done a great job. Initially, this couple was very resistant to having someone in their home, but they now accept help and really love Tanya. She is a natural and understands exactly what each of her client's needs are."
Thank you, Tanya, for your exceptional acts of compassionate care. We are so very fortunate to have you on our team!
Emu is our choice for CAREGiver of the Month for August. When Emu joined the Home Instead team over a year ago, there was some hesitation in placing her due to her heavy accent and the possibility that clients would have difficulty understanding her. We asked her to be patient if this presented a problem. She said, "You don't know me as a person, but I can tell you, you won't be disappointed, and my clients will be very happy with me." She proved herself to be correct. Emu is special and exceeds the expectation of care. From the day she walked into her first client's home (she is still with Mrs. B), they were impressed and are more than satisfied with the care she provides.
Mr. and Mrs. B didn't think that they could find anyone else who could take the place of their previous CAREGiver. But Emu stepped in and she won their hearts. Now Mrs. B says that she would take Emu over anybody. She never stops. She's always doing something all the time. She always makes sure that they have food. They think that she is wonderful, and they feel really lucky to have Emu. Mrs. B says, "Emu watches me like a baby. She is so attentive, and the house is spotless."
According to the couple's daughter, "The caregiver for my mom and dad is excellent. She is so attentive and caring. We can't say enough good things about Emu."
Thank you, Emu, for your dedication and commitment to your clients and for going above and beyond every day!
Our July CAREGiver of the Month is Liliya L. According to her client, Mrs. W, "Liliya is the BEST! She is wonderful. Liliya takes me to the beauty salon and she is fantastic and skillful in handling me and my wheelchair. She always does the best job. Sometimes there is a challenge with language (Liliya has a Russian accent), but we have agreed that we are friends who are a good fit and we understand each other. I am never disappointed with Liliya!"
According to Client Care Coordinator, Consuelo, "Liliya is very quiet but is a wonderful CAREGiver who is loved wherever she goes. She is self-directed and proactive. She knows exactly what her clients need – not just the tasks needed – but emotionally she understands what they respond to positively. She gives her entire focus to the client and is an excellent listener. I am impressed with how Liliya immediately sees and understands the needs of her clients."
Thank you, Liliya, for your quiet compassion and skillful intuition in serving your clients, providing them with expert care and their families with peace of mind!
'Warm', 'smart', 'personable', 'compassionate', 'conscientious', 'efficient' and 'exceeds expectations'. These are just a few words clients have used to describe our June CAREGiver of the Month, Linda S. As one of our 'Peace of Mind' CAREGivers in an independent living community, Linda visits up to 15 clients a day, ensuring that they have taken their medications, assisting them with bathing, accompanying them to meals, encouraging participation in daily activities or providing friendly conversation. Linda is a welcomed visitor to these clients every weeknight and every weekend.
According to some of her clients:
"I love Linda. She makes me laugh. Life is worth living again!"
"Linda has such a positive attitude. I could not have a better person helping me. I just love her." This client's daughter said that Linda always makes her mother laugh and smile.
"Linda does not need instruction. I like that I do not have to remind her or tell her what to do."
"Linda makes a difference and I do not want to lose her. I am very happy she is looking after me and I don't have to worry about stuff knowing she will keep me on track."
"Linda is very efficient. She provides the exact care that is needed and always comes in with a happy smile. She is pleasant, kind and exceeds expectations."
According to her teammate, Jennifer, "Linda is a sweet person and perfect for the Peace of Mind team. She goes out of her way to accommodate and care for her clients. I always get compliments from clients about how much they love Linda and the care she provides."
According to Karen, our Client Care Manager, "She makes a difference when she visits. She listens to each person's needs and provides care accordingly. She is not just stopping in to give medication."
The team in the office also loves Linda for her 'can do' attitude. Joy said, "She is flexible and is famous for saying 'just tell me where to be and I'll be there, Joy'. Linda is reliable and has never called off. She responds to every message that I send her within minutes. I truly couldn't ask for a better person to have on my Peace of Mind team."
Thank you, Linda, for your dedication to your clients and to Home Instead and for showing us that you can make a difference everyday with your acts of kindness and compassion!
For the past 10 years, Minnie S has been a steadfast, reliable and compassionate member of our CAREGiving team, serving her clients with almost 17,000 hours of care. It is our pleasure to recognize Minnie as our May CAREGiver of the Month! She is a team player, always willing to help out and jumps in when other CAREGivers are not available.
Minnie cares for her current client overnight, making sure he is safe with his dementia when he gets out of bed during the night. According to Mr. H's wife, "Minnie is a GEM! I cannot say enough good things about her. She can get my husband to do things like no other. She is excellent with the overnight routine. He gets edgy at night but Minnie is patient. She can get him back to bed and makes sure he gets the sleep he needs." One night, Mr. H got up and was confused. Thinking it was daytime, he took his pajamas off to get dressed for the day. But this did not rattle Minnie. She was able to calmly get him back in his pjs, back to bed and to sleep.
Mrs. H continues, "Minnie keeps me informed and updated on how my husband is doing and we laugh about some of the things that happen during the night but she never wakes me or gets too frustrated when his behavior is challenging. Life if good when Minnie is here. She offers a great deal of peace of mind. She is so confident and persistent but so kind with my husband."
Minnie, your quiet strength and dedication to your profession and to Home Instead is tremendous. We thank you for your service over the years. You have helped so many and offered peace of mind and many good nights of sleep to many family members. Thank you for all you do.
Our team has chosen Phyllis L as our April CAREGiver of the Month for her strong leadership and caring heart. Phyllis has become the lead CAREGiver for Mrs. W over the past year. According to Mrs. W's daughter, Diane, "We can't say enough good things about Phyllis. She is very caring and she is very special. Mom just loves Phyllis. She is efficient and organized, gentle yet strong with the care that Mom may not want, but has to have (such as her sponge bath)." Phyllis explains to Mrs. W just how important these baths are for her health and for her overall well-being. She has a way of convincing her to do it. As Mrs. W is aging, new challenges arise and Phyllis is excellent at addressing these concerns and in finding solutions. Phyllis has started going to Mrs. W's doctor appointments with Mrs. W and her daughter because she knows what to tell the doctor. Diane likes that they can reinforce each other and, between both of them, hear everything the doctor says.
Phyllis pays special attention to Mrs. W's dietary needs. Mrs. W does not eat a lot but is very health conscious. Phyllis makes her shakes with rice milk, bananas and strawberries or with kale and apples. Phyllis freezes extra servings so Mrs. W can have one whenever she wants. Phyllis takes the lead by leaving notes for the other CAREGivers, making suggestion for Mrs. W favorite foods and when and how to order food for her from the café. Phyllis is excellent at communicating all concerns and updates with Diane.
According to Staffing Coordinator, Michelle, "Phyllis is a pleasure to work with. She is willing to accept urgent shift requests when asked. I truly appreciate her wonderful, caring manner. Thank you, Phyllis!"
We all appreciate you, Phyllis. Thank you for sharing your heart and being such a strong, caring advocate for your clients.

She has been as steady as a rock, dependable, reliable, as well as caring, compassionate, kind and well-liked by all of her clients and office staff. Jo stayed at a client's home during an ice storm to ensure that he was not left alone and stayed until a relief CAREGiver could get there.
According to Jessica, our General Manager, "Words that come to mind to when I hear Jo's name are 'reliable', 'consistent', 'professional' and 'caring'. Jo is not only one of best CAREGivers, but she is a fantastic dresser. Whenever she comes to the office she is dressed to the nines and everything matches perfectly! She has that same attention to detail in her caregiving. Jo is never late and always there when her clients need her.
When I think of Jo, this client's daughter sums it up perfectly. 'Can we nominate Jo for a heart and hand or some recognition for her faithful Sunday nights? She is such an anchor of stability and comfort for both Mom and me. Jo is blessedly familiar. She teases Mom. I trust her judgment. Jo gives us peace and we do appreciate it!'"

According to this couple, "Linda is tip-top. She fits right into the family. There is nothing too bothersome for her to do and she does anything that we need. Linda is one of the nicest people I have ever met. She is very outgoing, pleasant, knowledgeable and helpful. Plus, she is the best cook!"
Another client's daughter-in-law said about Linda, "Linda is awesome. She has blended into the family and I can't say enough good things about her."
Thank you, Linda, for being such an awesome CAREGiver and for the peace of mind you bring to the families you care for. Congratulations, Linda!
Although Lisa has only worked for Home Instead for almost one year, she has received rave reviews from every client she has helped. For this reason, as well as her tremendous reliability and her sunny disposition, the Home Instead team has chosen Lisa as our December CAREGiver of the Month.
According to Helen, one of Lisa's clients, "I am so happy with Lisa and I wouldn't have anyone else. I just love her so much! She knows what I need, when I need it and takes good care of me. Lisa is competent, able, a wonderful person to get along with, she anticipates my needs and I couldn't have anyone better!"
The wife of another client with dementia is so impressed with Lisa's creativity in keeping her husband thoughtfully engaged. With her own money, Lisa purchased a small wooden airplane and a wooden helicopter from the dollar store and worked with Ed to put them together. The wife said that Lisa is a perfect fit for her husband and that Lisa does a great job engaging him in conversation since he does not initiate conversation on his own.
A couple who Lisa cares for, Ken and Dolores, think the world of Lisa. They say she is very self-reliant, knows exactly what to do and does not need direction, comes in and works fast to get everything accomplished. "Lisa is such a nice person to talk to and we would love to have her for our next-door neighbor!"
From Tabitha, our Family Care Specialist, "It is a relief when I see Lisa's name on the schedule with my clients. My father is more independent with Vilma's help and does not have to rely on me or my brothers for assistance during the week. Thank you, Alva, for making our lives easier and for the difference you make every day in the lives of your clients!
Sharon is our CAREGiver of the Month for September. Although Sharon's tenure with Home Instead is relatively short, her compassion and caregiving skills are second to none. One of Sharon's biggest concerns when first hired was working in a cluttered environment. She faced her fears when she was placed with her first client who has a condition that makes her very anxious when thinking about throwing things away. Her home was very cluttered. On the first visit, Sharon felt an immediate compassion for her client and was determined to help her through this challenge. She has been very successful and is still with this client, working together to declutter her home.
Connie, our Home Care Coordinator, said she was very impressed with Sharon's attitude and the way she related to her client, putting her at ease and telling her 'we are a team and we will work together to improve your environment'. According to Connie, Sharon has changed her client's life. She is her friend and companion. According to this client, "God has sent Sharon to me. She is kind and compassionate. I love her. She goes above and beyond what is expected of her."

Sandra paints with Grace and has taught Grace how to crochet. According to Grace's daughter, "A day with Sandra is a good day – a day without Sandra is a not so happy day for my mom. She has an engaging personality that my mom likes and appreciates. It is so important to recognize the hard work Sandra is doing and it offers me peace of mind knowing someone is with my mom and taking good care of her when I can't be there."
The daughter was so appreciative that Sandra took her mom back and forth to the hospital when Grace's husband was ill and said, "We were so touched that Sandra went to help my mom get ready the morning of the funeral and showed up at my dad's funeral. She is a special person. We are very satisfied and happy with the care she provides for my mom."
Thank you, Sandra, for your exceptional acts of compassionate care. We are so very fortunate to have you on our team!

Lataisha is very patient with Mr. H who has dementia. She is easy-going and very sweet with him and they have formed a very special bond. Mr. H's wife is so appreciative of Lataisha because she keeps her husband engaged with conversation and playing cards. She is proactive; she knows exactly what to do without being asked. Mrs. H said she would adopt her if she could and that she would be lost without her.
We recognize Lataisha for her patience, warm heart and generous spirit. Thank you, Lataisha, for your extraordinary acts of compassionate care.
As a dedicated and compassionate Home Instead CAREGiver for the past 12 years (and 18,000 hours!), Dot is our unanimous choice for CAREGiver of the Month for June.
As a faithful and dependable CAREGiver to Mrs. B every week day for the past 3 years, the family believes they would be 'lost without Dot'. According to Mrs. B's daughter, "For my Mom, Dot is like having a good friend show up each day to help her with the things that need to be done and to be a companion- to talk about the latest news and other things which they have in common. Dot's cooking background is a perfect fit for Mom. She provides a delicious full breakfast as well as other well-planned and prepared meals. Dot does the food shopping and ensures what is needed for meals is bought and stocked in the house.
Dot is organized and self-motivated doing daily activities without direction. She does the big things as well as a host of small things, whether that is filling a hummingbird feeder or birdbath for my Mom's enjoyment or picking blooms from the yard to make a nice flowerpot for Mom's table. Dot is very thoughtful and often brings special treats for Mom like a potted or cut flowers, special dessert, thoughtful card, etc.
Dot also is especially dependable, arriving each day on schedule, even when the weather is not cooperating. Dot's calm demeanor has been a blessing for all of us. Mom gets frustrated with her limitations sometimes. Dot has amazing skills and does not let such frustration affect her calm demeanor which in turn helps Mom to get over her frustration. As one of Mom's daughters, I consider myself so lucky to have a person like Dot as Mom's caregiver."
Thank you, Dot, for your exceptional acts of compassionate care. We are so fortunate to have you on our team for the past 12 years!

According to Connie, our Home Care Consultant, "For our clients that require the highest level of care, Ruby is able to calmly provide exceptional care to these clients and also help their overwhelmed family members. Everyone loves Ruby! She reassures clients and family members and goes above and beyond in providing care. She is truly a team player and makes it easy for me to talk about the exceptional care our CAREGivers provide because I have Ruby as an example!"
Thank you, Ruby, for your compassion and the exceptional relationships you develop with your clients and their family members!
Our unanimous choice for February CAREGiver of the Month is Linda R. Our team agrees that Linda is very easy to work with, that she is flexible and always willing to take on extra shifts when needed. Linda’s biggest contribution, however, is to her client, Robert. He said, “Everyone needs a person like Linda. She is fastidious, inquisitive, always stays busy, will do anything and is exceptionally helpful.” Robert has also told, Karen, our Client Care Manager that he looks forward to Linda’s visits everyday. He said that she is indispensable and he would not know what to do without her. He said Linda keeps his house spotlessly clean, she runs errands with him and does all of his grocery shopping. He said Linda is one of the hardest workers he has ever seen. Thank you, Linda, for making such a big difference in Robert’s life and in the lives of all the clients you serve. We are fortunate to have you on our team!

Our choice for December’s CAREGiver of the Month

trade her for anything. She's a smart woman. “

interests. She is a valuable caregiver and we are lucky to have her!

Our choice for CAREGiver of the Month is Rhonda B. Although Rhonda has worked for Home Instead less than a year, she has made a big impact on one client in particular, Mr. M., who is blind and has Alzheimer's. Rhonda has traveled many of the same places that Mr. M and his family have travelled. They have found common ground in talking about their travels, since Mr. M's long term memory is much better than his short-term memory. When Mr. M brings up a topic of interest from his travels, or his family history, or art, or music, he is fascinated by Rhonda's ability to research these topics on her own time or on her smart phone while she is with him. For example, Mr. M talked with Rhonda about an old favorite hymn from his years as a minister. Rhonda found the song on her smart phone and played it for him! Rhonda recognizes the importance of keeping Mr. M engaged verbally since he has lost his sight.
Rhonda exemplifies the very best of our CAREGivers. She lives Home Instead by sharing her heart, building trust and taking the lead. Thank you Rhonda for all you do to add to the quality of Mr. M's life. We're so happy you are on our team!!

the Month for June. For the past 8 years our team has sang Janis’ praises not

of her tremendous communication and the regular updates she provides to the
staff and family members of each of her clients. According to one family

natural sense of understanding of the needs of elderly. Both of my in-laws were initially hesitant to have care in the
home. Janis has really made them feel comfortable and

and working on a modified plan of care, but after speaking with Janis, I am
very comfortable with her current plan. Please send our
appreciation to Janis!” A son of another client said, “Janis is just outstanding. She knows just what to do and what to
say.” According to Darla, Lead Staffing Coordinator, “Janis is AMAZING when it

Betty R is our choice for CAREGiver of the Month for May. Sometimes we never know the ways that our CAREGivers touch the lives of our clients, often during the most challenging of times. Betty touches the lives of her each of her clients. It is a daughter of one client in particular that thanked us for the care Betty provided her parents. “Betty was so kind and compassionate, extremely skilled in her care and my parents loved having her with them. She was with us the night my father passed away in his home and I don’t know what we would have done without her. She was an angel in disguise helping with a million things at the same time and not only for my father, but us as a family. We will never forget her and all that she did for us. My mother fell recently and broke a rib. I called Home Instead at the last minute as we had planned to leave town to see family for the holidays and Darla was able to place Betty for the evenings right away. As always, Betty was wonderful. She gave me updates when I called each evening, and showed the same compassion and skill that she had earlier in the year when she was with my parents.” Thank you, Betty, for all you do for your clients and for the peace of mind you give to their families! We are grateful to have you on our team.
