I am a wife and mother. My personal passion is horses.  I am thrilled to be practicing as a Registered Social Worker for a Home Instead. My background includes 15 years with the Department of Justice and 5 years in Child Welfare.  I also lived with a lady affected by Alzheimer's for 4 years and have worked within long term care.My clients, families and CAREGivers have generated so much positive energy for me. I believe my coworkers and employer share in my philosophy.  If you love what you do you will never work a day in your life.  By educating seniors and their families we can help them make informed decisions and respect wishes.  This feeds my passion.

Debbie Savage- Recruitment, Retention & Training Coordinator

I feel fortunate to have the opportunity to work with some exceptional people (both clients and colleagues) at Home Instead. Dividing my time between caregiving, and hiring and training caregivers is a great balance. Although my background is in Education, when it came time for a career change I wanted to make a difference to seniors who have contributed so much to our Island way of life. I've found though that we are the ones who benefit from time spent with them. Their life experiences, insights and wisdom are valuable resources. When I'm not working, reading, gardening, and spending time with my family (especially playing hockey and hide-and-go seek with my two grandsons) are among my favorite things to do.

I graduated from the PEI School of Nursing as a Registered Nurse. I worked in a long-term care facility for 23 years. As an RN I was privileged to care for hundreds of seniors and their families. Advocating for the residents was a major factor in my career. I believe my nursing experience and my natural empathy for seniors give me the qualities that make a good caregiver.
Working for Home Instead allows me the pleasure of meeting and caring for clients in their own home and helps me realize my passion for helping seniors. I also believe the more I give to my job the more I receive out of it.

Being born into an Armed Forces family has done nothing if not made me extremely versatile and adaptable person, who loves new people and experiences. Becoming and empty-nester has left me with time on my hands to fill. Care giving allows me the opportunity to fill that time wisely by helping others.
Feeling needed while filling a need is a win-win for all. My home economist education certainly has served me well in this new endeavor.

Leslee Sack- CAREGiver

Leslee Sack- CAREGiver

I was born and raised in Brooklyn, NY. I have a BA in Psychology but became a travel agent for 40 years in New York City. I left my son and his family to move to PEI – which I had never heard of even after years in the travel business! I worked across the street from the World Trade Center until April of 2001 before the dreadful events of September 11 and still have issues with that horror.
I love to cook. I used to visit two elderly ladies in the Jewish community here – as there is other community support – so it was an easy transition to actually do the same thing as part of my new job with Home Instead!

Daphne Harding- CAREGiver

I come from a family of 13, was born on PEI, and have lived here most of my life.  I have always been around seniors, and had the privilege of taking care of a great man in 2004-2005. In 2008, I had the opportunity to work with Home Instead Senior Care.  I jumped at the chance to work with seniors again.  Working with seniors gives me a great sence of fulfillment.

Some of my hobbies include reading a good book, spending time with family and friends, especially my granddaughter.  I love to travel, live horse races, and I also enjoy watching classic movies.

A quote that I have always loved is:

"They may forget what you said, but they will never forget how you made them feel."

I am an international educated nurse from Taiwan. My family just relocated to this beautiful island after few years stay in Montreal and Toronto. We LOVE this place. Our baby girl is so lucky to grow up here. In addition to having experience in senior care, I have been volunteering at many medical centers. My experience tells me that seniors are not just seniors, but they are wiser in life. I have learned a lot from them, and want to keep learning. I am so glad to have this opportunity to work as a CAREGiver at Home Instead this allows me to be part of healthcare which is my passion and to give 100% back to seniors.

I am newly married and new to this Island from Cape Breton Island.  I have a wonderful husband and a large family, with lots of nieces and nephews to cuddle. :)  My love of seniors came from spending time with my dear Grandma who passed away at 98 years old.  She was a fantastic role model for her large family.  I have learned that if we just stop and listen to those who are older they can teach us valuable lessons!

I was born in Dunstaffnage and have lived in Sherwood for the last 48 years with my great wife Flora. We raised three wonderful children and now have 6 wonderful grandchildren. I was self employed for most of my life until retirement in 2005. I soon found out that you need to find part time activity. Home Instead senior care and volunteering at the hospital have filled that void for me. I love to play golf and spend time with our children and grandchildren.

I was born in Summerside but I lived most of my life "off Island" working in Toronto as a TV writer and professional fundraiser. I have traveled all over the world in my work but have chosen to come home to PEI to live.
As part of "re-inventing myself" I started working with Home Instead almost by accident but it was one of the best things that happened to me. The work is a constant creative challenge and always rewarding. Those of us who do this work totally get it...the more you give the more you receive.

Hi to all.  I am a Charlottetown gal who has retired from a social services position and is very pleased to be working with such great people.  I have a Human Services background  with Commercial Design as well.  I am a mom with two grown children whom I am very proud of.
I was able to be with my mom and support her when she chose to stay at home.   It was a gift to me and to her.  As well, I worked with seniors at one of the Government facilities during the summer between my 1st and 2nd college year.  With those two experiences and the staff at Home-Instead I knew  I would enjoy this work.

I am currently in the resident care worker program with Marguerite Connolly training and consulting. My whole life I have loved to help people, put smiles on faces and make a positive difference in the lives of those that I encounter, which was why I enrolled in the rcw program. I have a background in working with developmental disabilities, and I volunteer with community connections (a day Center for adults with disabilities) quite frequently. This line of work had brought great joy to my life and leaves me feeling appreciated and accomplished. Outside of work I have a passion for music, drawing and spending time with family and friends.
